Since nobody is talking about it.

Maybe I missed it, i only heard of it before the patch actually dropped. What was the reasoning behind nerfing such a situational perk like balanced landing? I really don't understand this, even one of the maps it's really good on (hawkings) is super killer sided with how the map is laid out and pallet locations are all super unsafe. I'm really curious why this was nerfed, it's mind blowing to me actually. Also I never used the perk so it's not a personal stab to me personally, but I can't really understand the reasoning.

Nobody? Right...😂
BL created infinites, that's bad.
Lampkin, tractors on coldwind, iron works and other big buildings with long drops, survivors would abuse the stagger reduction to essentially create an Infinite.
Its not the perks fault as much as the players/map design.
Some maps, namely Haddonfield were really good for this perk. And when I say "good" I mean, stagger reduction allowed BL users create nearly infinite loops.
The perk's passive stagger reduction made it to where players can create unfair loops and infinites. It made maps like Haddonfield, Temple, and Ormond (Still nasty) awful to play on for the majority of the killers.
Instead of closing off some windows and putting doors instead of windows, they went with a easier solution just nerf the damn perk.
It could be used in some maps to make loops incredibly strong, or even infinite. While we don't mind it opening up some new opportunities, becoming basically untouchable is out of the question.
It was hardly situational, I abused it on most every map, shelter woods was the only situational thing about it. The perk is still good but now it is balanced.
You don't need balanced to use tractors effectively.
Even on haddonfield it doesnt' create infinites, it's just the killers refuse to mind game, they mindlessly follow window to window.
Let's be honest here, at the highest level of play, you are not getting away even with the silent fall. Please stop pretending like it's still usable, lol.
And if I don’t fall for the mind game?
This is such a cop-out response. There are a ton of perks like this one in the game that can create advantages for both sides, yet we're targeting really situational perks.. I don't understand this logic lol
I pretty much got the replies I expectd out of this thread, instead of killers adapting to certain mechanics they would rather mindlessly chase in a straight line and not use mind games or any other form of strategy to get better at the game, so let's nerf another survivor perk that was already (imo) really bad to begin with.
It wasn’t situational, it could be abused on most maps.
I'm sorry if you don't like the actual answer, but having a perk that can literally make you untouchable in certain situations is not acceptable. There's a difference between getting an advantage and not being able to lose.
Then fix the Maps.
The Maps where BL was insanely strong are still not good at all for Killers. Haddonfield in particular, the Myers House can be fixed by having Doorways instead of Windows on the upper Floor and closing the Bottom Floor Window.
Crotus Prenn Main Building has 4 safe Pallets and a shitload of Windows. Whether or not you have BL, this is an insane structure. Same for Grim Pantry, you dont need BL for that.
It is kinda sad that no good Survivor Perks are coming, but gutting the few that are actually useable is a shame. Because with that we reach a point where only a few Perks are commonly used, and this is not good.
I was speaking from my perspective as survivor, it is easy to not get mind games at the Myers house and BL was easily S tier.
Found the incredibly biased survivor main
That's the end goal, although that takes time. It takes even longer when you have to design each map for both reduced stagger and normal stagger. We didn't want to do nothing in the meantime, so we chose to address it now.
"takes time"<--I mean, the complaints about especially Haddonfield are going on for months, if not years. The Map is horrible for Killer, even without BL.
But well, at least there is hope that BL will return one day in a useful state. The way it is right now it is on pair with many other garbage Perks.
It wasn't that strong, aside from the fact that some people based their entire gameplay loop on it.
LOL
"The perk is still good"
Well yeah, but only because it's an Exhaustion perk. It is the worst among them and people who continue to use it are probably slightly deluded
Cool, so we should be expecting some kind of nerf to address freddy right? I mean in this kind of mindset at least.
This to me just tells me that they have no real way of dealing with dead hard, so they are going after BL for whatever reason. Even now when haddonfield comes, i'm still getting killers instantly leaving lobbies so, what did you fix realistically? lol.. nothing, you just nerfed another bad situational survivor perk but you refuse to address some of the busted killer perks like bbq for example just one of many that we have asked you take a look at since you refuse to do anything to WGLF
Way out of left field. Are we nerfing Freddy next? Survivor mains need to get together and agree on one between Oni, Freddy, Billy, and Ghostface so they can complain incessantly and get one of them nerfed.
Tell that to the people who used Balanced Landing to make it so you'd never catch them on tractors.
I almost think you're joking at this point with all the rage induced comments.
No you don't but you literally just made an argument against it by saying that. If you don't need balanced to play it effectively then you just admitted that balanced makes it even stronger
yes because a killer can adapt to Haddonfield infinite abusers (like myself) that would just run to the myers house every time they get in a chase and just abuse balanced landing. yep definitely the killers fault for just NOT ADAPTING
I never once admitted balanced makes it stronger, did you not read my initial post? I don't run the perk because when i did run the perk i never got a map for its value.
Part of the reason for the BL change was to allow for future maps to have more drops.
