Soo....Let's put it this way, Ruin is still a Hex Totem, so it can be destroyed within 30 seconds, STILL. Secondly ruin is used on killers who's weaknesses is gen pressure. I want you to run Hag, without Ruin for one high red rank game. By the time traps are set you've lost a generator, repeat this playing as trapper, repeat this playing as any killer who has to rely on early game slow downs to even have a chance.

And yes I do run corrupt on my hag, and my trapper. But you waste the first 30 ish seconds of corrupt just setting down traps applying 0 pressure and leave yourself with just about a minute to actually apply a pressure and keep a momentum, which can also be easily lost by DS, or one of the many pallet or god loops. Or as some maps stand some of the still current INFINITE LOOPS that require you to break a pallet. But Ruin is unfair.

And let me teach you a fun fact as killer, if there are two people on a gen you can only chase one. Effectively making the said "great totem" useless.

And insidious camping doesn't exist, you just can't hear the heartbeat anymore cause the killer walked away.

Nah. YOU are the joke my friend.

Don't wanna get looped with vaults? Bring bamboozle. Don't wanna get looped with pallets? There's a limited number of them on the map + bring brutal strength. Once there's 2 or 1 gens left to do it will be harder for survivors to do gens because your patrol route will be shorter, which will apply enough pressure to chase survivors and get those hooks. By the time there's 2 gens left, there should be minimal pallets left on the map for survivors to use.

Hope you don't mind going up against top tier killers then. Remember the fun diversity? It's gone. Don't blame the killers, blame the devs.

Oh man but remember when the killers told survivors to use Iron will if they don't like going against Spirit? They were flamed saying why should they bring a perk when it might not even be against a Spirit?

Oh the irony, I hate it when people say to killers "just use X perk to counter" (bandaid) but when the killers tell survivors to use perks to counter they are just met with "You can't use a perk to counter an issue LUL"

ruin is required though on some maps since on maps like red forest it literally takes you half a gen on most killers just to get to the other side of the map also just because gen rushing doesn't exist doesn't mean gens aren't fast af. Also don't get me wrong i hate ruin i hate runing it i would much rather run something else but in some situations your forced to run it or lose

Inexperienced survivors. Learn how to win without ruin

  • If they would listen and form a response, and say what their plans are to address the other side's concerns....then it would all stop immediately.

People get the ruin nerf to a degree, but the fact that it still has the same huge problem it did before on top of being nerfed is what is annoying; feels like they solved all the survivor side problems and ignored any killer side complaints. Feels one sided.

killers rely on ruin because they have no time to breathe and even move around the map without a generator being completed.

A ruin change is welcome, but its currently too early for one. If it was changed within the same update that the early game was updated to reflect on the change killer mains would be happy.

Killers hate using ruin as much as survivors hate going against it, its a perk we shouldnt need but we have to use it to balance out the early gens going too fast.

  • AndraKunAndraKun Member Posts: 21

The reason why we killer rely on ruin is because the generators progress are too fast, especially on high rank.

On high rank survivors know what to do. They'll do gen right after the game started and keep doing it unless they're being chased. They mostly do gen separately. When one of them being chased, he would waste the killer time by juking and looping the killer. Without ruin there would be 3 gens done after the killer downed the survivor he chased earlier (if that survivor didnt run to the other survivor when being chased). Even if the killer is good enough and managed to down him very quickly, the others survivors would managed to get the gen to around 50%-90%. But most survivors on high rank are clever and cant go down easily, even if you try to mind game them they would expect it.

My opinion, nerf ruin but also nerf the gen progression. I honestly think the old ruin is very frustrating as survivor, but also the very quick gen progress is very frustrating as killer.

If you cant do well without Ruin...

Your rank is adjusted where your skill without a crutch perk makes you comfortable to play against survivors of equal or lesser skill than you.

Don't tell them to complain, it's like asking them to continue.

It's very evident who does the most complaining in these forums.

(I main both) Wait so you're rank one and you still have trouble hitting great skill checks? No offense but that just proves the ranking system needs to be "overhauled" instead of ruin. The killer is getting 2 or more kills bc they're actually good at the game and that's why they're in red ranks (unless they camp or tunnel lol). Me as a survivor and killer main didn't have a problem with ruin, if you couldn't hit the skill checks then just go and find the totem like you're supposed to as your secondary objective. Yep, gens aren't your only objective. Totems, emblems, heals, escaping chases, the game isn't only about getting gens done. If your mindset is to just do gens, then you'll never pip. In a way, ruin forced survivors to do their other objectives. I don't agree with the ruin changes but complaining won't fix anything, like you're trying to say. But don't expect killer mains to stay quiet when their meta perk gets yeeted, you survivor mains wouldn't like it if any of your meta perks got nerfed so why should we?

Why, is this difficult? I did it several times first try and I usually play on PC.

From my view: I'm a survivor main - the few times I play killer I never equip ruin. But then again, I'm a killer noob in noob ranks, getting noob survivors. I'm fine. If I would be a godlike killer player like True or Otz or anyone able to at least 2k against decent survivors, I wouldn't need ruin in higher ranks either. But it currently is a great help to balance out a big skill gap and that's its greatest value (especially in times of bad matchmaking).

Sure it can be abused. Like balanced landing and DS, every perk can. But with this nerf they basically removed it from the game. Imagine removing DS - sure you CAN play without it without issues but if you need it you reeeeaaally feel it lacking. Same with ruin.

Read the dev notes. They say outright the change is because new players can hit a button properly.

I play console. 30 fps and trying to hit greats isn't the best combo. But yeah, join the squad of kiddos insulting my rank and saying I don't belong in rank 1. Maybe one day you'll be mature enough to contribute to conversations and arguments.

Ranks seem to be a joke at this point anyways with the current matchmaking.

omg sis. Resort to?! You guys already f’in do this over and over anyway so it’s no change for us.

  • Widowmaker8197Widowmaker8197 Member Posts: 88

Yeah. All I see these days are spirit, trapper, and ghostface. Those 3 killers.

Ummm, what are you talking about? I have which is why I still play the game you [BAD WORD]. I don’t know what you’re tying to say. I’m not complaining, I’m just stating facts. Facts are facts America.

  • DeadArsenalDeadArsenal Member Posts: 208

You say that now, but I don't think you realize how many killers adhere to the socially acceptable Killer Rules that Survivors have complained into existence over the lifespan of this game. You may not notice it but Killers can often intentionally switch targets to avert accusations of tunneling or just hooking someone instead of leaving them Knock Out slugged in a corner. That's just a couple of examples. You run into a couple of jackasses every now and then. Now there will be nothing but jackasses.

It doesn’t matter what they do to this game, I’ll still play it irregardless because I love it. Some people just take this [BAD WORD] way too seriously ISTG.

It’s easy I hit right about 90% without going full try hard it’s very easy

  • DeadArsenalDeadArsenal Member Posts: 208

You'll love it less and less as the meta shifts toward what has been considered "toxic" behavior up until this point. Shameless use of NOED and Moris alone will be annoying. But those are just the most obvious mechanical ways this will manifest. Forget all the threats people are making too, there's nothing to threaten: This is natural response to a popular and useful perk being changed. The meta shifts to the next most viable method and if that next most viable method is scummy what's left of the Killer playerbase won't care.
