Due to latency issues in the PTB, we have decided to postpone the server hit validation test until after the update releases on the live version of the game. We will let you know when the test will take place as soon as we can. Thank you all for your patience.

Um what?

(Seriously though idk what the heck happened one moment the ghostface is literally walking away and then WAM downed.)

    Dedicated servers.

Unless you're playing on Xbox. Then either lag switching or one of the two of your lagged out for a moment due to it being peer to peer.

(lagging out could also happen on dedicated servers too, though more often than not it results in your just being booted from the match if it's for more than 3 seconds)

That's how lagging out works, though.

If someone is running in one way, and then the connection drops, they will continue running in that direction because that's the last signal that was sent.

To the Ghost Face, you too would have just been "walking away" on their end, and well, the game cares if the killer connects to the survivor on their side, rather than if the killer connected to the survivor for the survivor side. That's why you can get hit from so ridiculously far away from windows or over pallets as a survivor, even if the killer is a ridiculously large distance away.

There's a lot of factors that can cause this to happen, so it's hard to pinpoint what it exactly was. Either way, it all bottles down to unstable connection/server and/or high amounts of latency.
