Ability to upload own avatars (?)

LivuxLivux Member Posts: 27

Just an idea - but: How would it be to give people the possibility to upload own avatars?

i saw the community manager had a custom avatar, so i'm guessing it's a feature implemented only for staff members

It'd be cool to open that for everyone - but in addition, there should be rules like 'no porn content' or sth.

It should be a given that putting nsfw content on the site would be against the rules in general.

    Honestly? No.

I hope they upload more default ones like we can already use. Just different things. Like 100 total or something.

Sadly, letting users upload their own would just create silly stuff... offensive stuff. This place isn't like the STEAM forums. Thank God.

I saw so many offensive names on Steam forums and so many stupid avatar pics. Just silly stuff. Very immature.

Very high school like stuff. This place is different so far. I love it.

Definitely a good topic to bring up, and also one I mentioned in my own feedback! (http://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/54/hello-just-some-initial-notes#latest)

Hopefully we can see something along these lines, soon :)

I would like the freedom to upload my own pic. They could implement a 6 hour delay or something, so they can review, if necessary.

It wouldn't stop users from changing it right away after succesful moderation though.

That's right - maybe just give it out as an "achievement" maybe - like: If you reach 100 posts, you're gonna get the ability to upload own avatars.

Yes, it would. I'm on Alienware's forum, each individual pic you want to use for an avatar, has to be approved and you have to allow 12 hours for an approval. Just because one is approved does not mean all get approved. It works quite easily and it could be done here.

    Thanks for the info!

I'll be sure to discuss it with the team.

Yes, that is one of the ideas we have. Although just reaching 100 posts isn't good enough, 'spamming' is easy.

It's something basic that forums have, yet this forum doesn't have it..

Honestly, I don't really see the need. It's a Dead by Daylight forum and we have Dead by Daylight Avatars. So long as the staff members don't start running around with completely unrelated custom ones I see no issues.

Why not link the achievements in dead by daylight to avatars? people have to complete harder achievements for more exclusive avatars. Example; Skeleton key avatar for completing the achievement where did they go.

This would require you to link your accounts to do so, which unfortunately would not be possible on all platforms. It would exclude some users, so it's unfortunately not an option.

Darn console peasants screwing the pc master race over again with their limitations. 😜😜😜😜😜😜😜

In all seriousness though, it's one for all on that type of stuff and no one should get left out.

Instead of being able to put your own avatar, I'd suggest something like perk/item avatars. Or even Mori icons, lol. The forum would still be DbD themed and we'd have more icons to choose from.

I would love it, i have a small pool of avatars prepared i can't use.

An approval system would be the best compromise, just have a limit how often you can change it, say every 2 months, to keep them from changing it right away.
