Every Killer has a way of telling what they're doing, not just demogorgon

People have been saying demogorgon is too loud and gives too much info, but how much ground can this argument cover? Let’s see:

I’ll be listing every killer and their global audio cue then compare them to demo:

  1. Trapper: global sound cue for when a trap gets disarmed
  2. Wraith: Swoosh sound every time he cloaks or uncloaks, + bell sound when he’s near.
  3. Hilbilly: Chainsaw sounds, not 100% global but still can be heard from long distances
  4. Nurse: global screeching sounds
  5. Myers: global halloween theme + exposed icon to survivors in tier 3
  6. Hag: this one is probably the most subtle but you can hear a slight sound whenever she takes a trap. test in kyf if you don’t believe me.
  7. Huntress: SHING kinda sound when her hatchet is fully charged, and global
  8. Doctor: both static blast and shock therapy have global sound cues.
  9. Bubba: like hillbilly
  10. Freddy: Air wooshing sounds when he’s teleporting, and global.
  11. Pig: she doesn’t have a global cue but she does have an ambush cue, and you can see the progress of your teammates traps
  12. Clown: survivors screams when intoxicated are global. + he grunts when he vaults so shack double vault mindgames are impossible with him.
  13. Spooreh: Phasing sounds, not global but can be heard from a decent range, because it would just be a buff if the phasing was global since you won’t tell if she’s near or not.
  14. Legion: deep wound bar that instantly notifies survivors its legion and every time you see it it means they’re busy frenzying someone (if thats even a word)
  15. Plague: global cue for cleansing and if she picks corrupt purge
  16. Ghostface: you can see if a survivor is marked or not and if it’s not you then you can instantly tell its ghostface.
  17. Oni: Global war cry, and global sound cue for when his power is ready to use
  18. Deathslinger: global gun shot sound cue
  19. Blight: you can hear him roar when hes around 20m of you, but hes the only killer that doesn’t have a global audio cue or doesnt give a special effect on the survivors status bar (the one at the bottom left).

Now, what was the point of all this? to prove that every killer notifies survivors on what they’re doing, however demo boi notifies survivors even when he misses or gets stunned when no other killer does that.

Is it a bad thing? Yes and no; No cuz you can use this to your advantage by giving survivors a false sense of security: randomly clicking m1 will notify everyone that you tried to hit someone when you werent even in a chase plus swf get info on what the killer is doing regardless if it’s demo or not, yes cuz if you actually are in a chase survivors will be wary of that, hell you can even hear if someone got dedicated or not, cuz if you hear his global stun noise and see a survivor downed at the same time then it means they got hit as they stunned you. ofc im not saying that demo is fine and that this is justified by any means and he could still use some buffs and an add on overhaul. his m1 and stun noises shouldn’t be global at all, the rest can stay global, like the roar after a hit or the roar while teleporting and for the love of god remove his STOMP STOMP while hes undetectable

Yes, completely ignore clown, trapper, nurse, oni, deathslinger, plague, doctor, huntress, freddy, myers, hag and wraith, for 4 killers who don't have a global audio cue but it sure as heck reaches far away, hillbilly's chainsaw can be heard from pretty far like 60m and thats like a double terror radius, and all the killers you mentioned dont have a global cue BUT you can still tell what they're doing, a random deep wound bar appeared? its a legion using frenzy, someone got an rbt? its a pig... etc.. they dont have global cues but they have other things that tells what they're doing, oh and fixed the title

  • ClocksoClockso Member Posts: 850

like i said i changed the title to better reflect what i ment, you're example is 1 killer out of 20 and they all have a way to tell what they're doing, a giant red circle appeared to someone's name? killer is ghostie, the timer ran out? the killer lost the survivor.. and like i said demo shouldn't have a global hit and stun noise at the bottom of the post and i think they should be removed, i mentioned all these killers not to prove demo is balanced, i mentioned them to prove how all killers give a tell tale for their power 1 way or another and not when they breath on the map

i find clown suffering from this problem harder than demo, you see when the survivor screams you can see their scream bubble's location and from which direction, luckily however demo's screaming is not directional

Literally none of those things matter compared to what is essentially free echolocation that the killer is not actively looking for you at that moment. The point of the TR is to tell you when the killer is nearby: Demo's constant "RAWR~! :3 "s are a contant indication that the killer not only isn't nearby, but they are preoccupied. Some of the things you mentioned have a similar effect, like GF's marking circle, but Demo's absurd frequency of these notifications is what hurts him to a degree that few other killers feel.

I agree, all the killers mentioned above have a way to tell they're using their power, but NONE indicate when they're pressing m1 or getting stunned or what they ate for breakfast which is why i think his m1 and stun sounds shouldn't be global even if it's just for the sake of horror atmosphere, the roar after the hit is fine since you can already see someone getting injured at the bottom left

It certainly hurts clown a lot as well, the two of them have it worse than most other killers in this particular facet. It hurts doctor a lot as well, but he can at least do things like TR manipulation + his area shock to lessen the amount of map pressure lost. A lot of other killers like Plague get the ability to offset their global indicators as well, she can just simply break off a chase after puking on someone and leave them to get sick while instead looking for other survivors and building map pressure elsewhere. Clown and Demo really just get boned by their global sounds, and STILL get boned even if they break off due to the suddenly lack of notifications giving tons of info in its own right.

I'm pretty sure he does, not the bell ringing itself, but whenever he cloaks you hear a SWOOOSH sound, you can try testing in kyf

Its not something I ever considered since it never bothered me. Demo making noises never put him at a disadvantage in my opinion.

The swoosh isn't (supposed to be) global, it should be slightly bigger than a regular Terror Radius.

  • TerroTerro Member Posts: 1,026

I think you're missing the point of the argument that ppl are complaining about the global sound cues. It's about how much they feel it effects the Demo not that they exist (another debate in itself). Like does it matter that you can tell you're exposed against gf or Myers? Not really since they're probably about to stab the person they're after with it. Legion? Less useful than knowing that another killer injured some1 since you don't know if the legion just turned and is heading to you.

As for the ones that are useful, he killer mains have already complained about some of them, asked that they be reduced or suggested that certain add-ons that deal with those draw backs should be base kit.

Come on, you cannot be serious. You actually think that Demogorgon gives a similar amount of info to any other killer? I just gave you a middle of the road example and you basically ignored the parts that proved you wrong.

  • xenotimebongxenotimebong Member Posts: 1,845

Not to disregard your point since this is only one other killer, but... Doesn’t Oni also notify other survivors when he’s stunned? I’ve definitely heard another survivor stun him early in the match before and thought, “oh it’s an Oni”. I’m not sure if it has a radius though.

  • ClocksoClockso Member Posts: 850

If you remove his global m1 and stun noises and loud ass STOMP STOMP like i originally suggested in the post then yes, he will only roar after hitting a survivor (you can see them getting injured anyway without the roar) and he will roar when teleporting (freddy also makes swooshing sounds when teleporting)

yes you’re correct, oni’s stun is global, his footsteps are loud and he has 2 audio cues for his power

I want a global audio cue when Demo searching a chest. (If he could do this) 😄

  • MrDardonMrDardon Member Posts: 1,729

Might be that every Killer has maybe one audio cue which is sometimes global and sometimes within a certain radius. But Demo gives an Global Audio Cue for basically anything he does, not just one thing like any other Killer.

  • Mister_xDMister_xD Member Posts: 5,745

most of these "global audio cues" are very much limited to certain actoins these killers take / dont even give any info on the killer in the first place.

Trappers trap disarm for example only tells you what the others of your team are doing, not the killer himself.

the thing with Demo is, that he has a lot of global audio cues that give away too many of his actions - the teleport, getting stunned, hitting someone (different cues for normal attacks and shred i believe), footsteps so loud anyone can hear them from a thousand miles away... its not that he has a global audio cue, its the amount he has. survivors basically get a constand realtime update on what he is doing.

personally i dont view that as much of a problem though. its a nice touch he has and if the killer is doing well that audio design can be quite frightening to hear as a survivor.

by the way, Wraith's bell has a limited range for those cues.

the ringing of the bell can be heard within a 16m proximity to the killer and the wooshing can be heard within a 40m proximity to the killer.

You can be pretty sneaky with Demo and use his global sounds like for missed attacks to make survivors think you're preoccupied when you're really just trying to get the jump on them. It's not as good as him just being... normal, but it can be pretty fun. Demo could really use some love, though. I get why they'd want him to be the loudest, since that's what he is in the show, but he needs something to make up for it. He's not insanely weak, but he's also not really impressive in any way.

I [BAD WORD] hate that Nr 13 is a thing. Why does Clown need to have a noise that tell Survivors that he's vaulting? Its like they want him to be a tunnel machine.

  • Kind_LemonKind_Lemon Member Posts: 2,559

I always thought people were complaining about demo sounds because really loud stomping exists for the newest killer frame. Didn't know it was about the global cue. Also, I disagree with the accuracy and integrity of your list.

  • Lily0Lily0 Member Posts: 117

If demo's only map wide sound was the screech after he uses his power, then that would be fine. But he makes noise for pretty much anything, even getting stunned. there is no reason for that

The other Killers don't have global cues for everything they're doing though, only for specific actions that don't even give away that much information. All Demo has to do is breathe and the Survivors get a mapwide notification. Its footsteps are also way too loud (especially for a Killer who uses the Undetectable effect in its power). Four solos can have information on the level of an SWF. People would be fine if Demo only had the roar after teleporting as mapwide audio cue.
