Why is there a profanity filter?

Why? This game is 18+ and Ash literally swears in game, swearing is fine as long as you don't use it to insult people (insulting is against the forum rules anyways).

Dbd is a game about sacrificing survivors to a satanic spider on meat hooks, and swearing isn't allowed?

I also just want to know why there's a profanity filter, so it would be great if you can answer @MandyTalk @Gay Myers (Luzi) and @Rizzo90

Its like this, Because swearing serves no intellectual purpose, it only serves an emotional one.

BHVR are likely not interested in reading your wild emotions on here, The forum posts should be explanatory, precise and swearing don't.

And then there is the fact that swearing is used to hamper discourse, which is the opposite of what we want.

You can see how that would get in the way of the forums purpose?

Pretty much it's about the fact that this is a discussion board and for intellectual purposes, to have posts clean and well... It tend to escalates further a lot of times. It's just much more professional too in a sense as this is a official source intended for feedback and more.
