Why are the devs so reluctant to give trapper his brown bag add on as basekit?

It literally makes zero sense, it would be such an easy way to improve him, and it’s been suggested for years at this point.
Meanwhile, killers such as Plague had a simple change (one corrupt fountain every match) that made them much better to play, but nothing for the face of the game. I think most of us would rather have changes to a killer who came out in 2016, than trickster who is going to fade into nothing like the twins did.

I'd imagine they looked at their statistics and decided he's in a great place. That's why even people who love Trapper, like Otz, will be one of the quickest people to tell you he should have at least a brown bag by default. But again, just further proof they don't even listen to their own Fog Whisperers, too, so what chance do you think you got?

It's not even like it'd be unbalanced if he has the addon as a base kit. To the contrary, I feel it'd actually balance a bit more the game for him.
I've decided no matter how unlikely it is that Jason is coming to DBD the devs want to keep Trapper weak so if they ever do get Jason they can make him stronger version of Trapper. It's the only reason I can think of to not give Trapper the love he deserves.
My theory is that most people don't like playing against trapper, and not many people play him either, and if you buffed him (he needs it) that would make more harm than good in terms of enjoyment. I personally don't mind going against trapper occasionally, it adds a unique way to play against.
I'd rather them just start trapper with all his traps and after he runs out THEN make it to where he has to fetch the trap and put it somewhere else , he's already a weak killer with zero map pressure and the early game is where he struggles even that small little change would make him more viable than he is now
