What the Resident Evil Chapter should've been, what it is, and what Project W should be

TheDarkTyrantTheDarkTyrant Member Posts: 1,990

I love Resident Evil. I started my Resident Evil adventure when I played Resident Evil 4 which released on January 11th, 2005. Ever since I've just been obsessed with Resident Evil. Almost as obsessed as I've always been with the Caped Crusader. It's been a huge part of my life ever since. It was the perfect game franchise everyone eventually finds for themselves. Resident Evil is that for many people. It's helped me through my darkest times. Sure it wasn't the only thing helping me but it was one of the big things that helped besides family and also Batman. I've played all the mainline games in the franchise. Resident Evil, Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, Resident Evil: Code Veronica, Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil 5, Resident Evil 6, Resident Evil 7: biohazard, Resident Evil Village, Resident Evil 0, Resident Evil Remake, Residence Evil 2 Remake, Resident Evil 3 Remake and what I and some others also consider main games, Resident Evil Revelations and Resident Evil Revelations 2. Those aren't the only games I played but it is a hugs amount of them. I love Resident Evil. I'm not one to just praise and defend everything Resident Evil though. If I don't like something I will say I don't like it.

Dead by Daylight is a game that over the years had meant more and more to me. Specifically because of the licenses. I've been playing since 2017. I love Dead by Daylight as well. I originally bought it because of Michael Myers as I love the Halloween franchise. Then we started getting more and more horror icons I love. One I always wanted personally was of course, the biggest horror game franchise ever made and my favorite game franchise ever, Resident Evil. I had so many ideas for powers and just the characters they could do. I always got excited at the idea of Resident Evil being done justice next to Michael Myers or Leatherface or Freddy Krueger of Pyramid Head which I never though I would see happen.

In 2021 I was in the community of a YouTuber and streamer known as MrGimms. I have since banned from there over a misunderstanding. In various places including there though I was saying I think the 5th year chapter was going to be Resident Evil. Then I was watching one of Capcom's Resident Evil Showcases for my most anticipated game of 2021, Resident Evil Village. Then I heard the hook sound. My jaw literally dropped. I am not lying. I was so excited. I immediately picked up my device and went crazy in the discord talking about Resident Evil coming to DBD. I was so optimistic and enthusiastic about it at the time. Then the wait. It felt longer to get the chapter reveal because it was announced so early.

The 6th anniversary stream finally came around. I was so anxious to see what they chapter contains. My predictions were Nemesis as the killer and Leon and Claire as survivors. I was off by 1 but obviously Claire and Chris became skins. I saw the gameplay sections and I just could not believe what my eyes were seeing. I kept saying we should be happy for whoever we get and that was still true. But I hated what I saw. Nemesis' power just simply did not scream Nemesis. I just became sad and did not know what I wanted to do. I just ended up playing a game that always cheers me up. Resident Evil 4. It couldn't though. They had ruined Nemesis in Dead by Daylight. Instead of being the lethal pursuer with his 2 most iconic and able too be balanced abilities, the rocket launcher and his super fast sprint, he was some sort of zombie general but without being able to actually control the zombies. Taking that away from Nemesis is like taking the chainsaw away from Leatherface. He's just not Leatherface without his chainsaw.

I went through many different emotions every different time I randomly thought of the chapter. Anger, sadness, sometimes even optimism. Optimism always died quickly though and went back to the others. The chapter releases. I buy it and that day I have the mindset of saying maybe it's not that bad in my head. Nope. I played it and just could not do it. It just depressed me. I have fun with Nemesis but what matters to me is that Nemesis is actually in Dead by Daylight and not just him used as a skin for something that doesn't fit him. Ever since I've made posts about how I hated it and wanted people to help get it fixed. I admit I've gone a little too far and have been too harsh sometimes but my point will never change. Nemesis is not in Dead by Daylight. It was an attempt to bring the feeling of Resident Evil as a franchise in Dead by Daylight which as you can imagine is not really a good idea.

For me it was a mostly negative experience and chapter but it was never all bad still. The music was fantastic. Leon specifically looked PERFECT. The outfits looked great. The faces might've not all looked good and Nemesis' model might've not been good but the survivors' outfits and Leon's face was great. The map was so cool for me. I always felt it 100% got too much hate. I played very well on the map and had tons of fun and never understood why everyone hated it. I do agree it is too big though but the feel is fine to me. The music was really great to.

I don't ever want to give up on Nemesis and the chapter as a whole. I don't want something that means something to gaming and me to just rot when I've been asking for it for years. I would hope more people would understand but most have just mocked me as if they don't have something like that as well. Maybe they just haven't found it. I want my Nemesis in DBD. I will never stop until it is done. I won't stop until at least the bare minimum, Nemesis is fixed.

I am going to explain what should be at the bare minimum fixed to make this chapter in the state it should've been from the very start.

1. Nemesis - Nemesis' power needs to be completely remade. I'm not balance genius but I can place down some ideas. First off, replace the tentacle with a sprint and attack ability. You can sprint in short bursts with movement controls being in between Legion and Oni. The sprint attack will only ever take 1 health state though. The 2nd part of his power, the zombies, will.be replaced by the rocket launcher. This ability will instadown. You CAN balance this. You can do it similar to REsistance where it's just in a cool down and every time it's available the entity just makes it appear in Nemesis' hand and he can aim with the laser sight while moving really slow. You can cancel the rocket launcher if the survivor gets out of sight. If yoh cancel it goes on a cool down again but not a really long one. You just can't IMMEDIATELY take it back out. It has a blast radius of however much they choose. If you hit a wall or pallet with the rocket it will break it and pieces of wood will fly around and can injure survivors. These will never be able to down a survivor. On the survivors last hook stage, if you hit them DIRECTLY with a rocket, they will just completely die and will be erased from the map. All you will see is the black stain on the ground. That is what his power could be. There is other options for obtaining the rocket launcher as well though. Some have suggested crates. That can also work. But it CAN be balanced. People who think it can't are just outright wrong.

2. Models - The models in the chapter are half good. For the survivors all of the body pieces are really good but really only Leon and Chris look good in the face. Jill does not look like Jill. Claire looks like her but just if Claire was ugly. Chris' problem is that he is not even a canon version. They used RE5's S.T.A.R.S. bonus outfit to trick people into thinking it was RE1 Chris. It isn't. He has the earpiece and face and hair from RE5 and RE5's version of the outfit. Change it to the default RE5 Chris so it's a canon version that he actually wore. For Jill and Claire, just fix their faces. Now Nemesis' model... This is the worst one. His neck piece takes up too much space. He needs to have his center body piece up more to cover it and then make his legs a little longer. Then his face. His face is too straight down when you look at it from the side. The skin needs to look like it's pulling on his face and his face needs to be at an angle. His jaw is too small. Needs to be a little longer and wider. That's what you need to do.

3. Voices - Nemesis and Leon are fine as is. Jill is awful though. Claire is fine. I don't mind her. Not perfect but not horrible. Chris is also awful. So fix those 2's voices, Chris and Jill.

4. Map - Remove all the orange bubbles. They are so random and don't look cool. They just look stupid. No other map ever had it. You went so far into being accurate and stuffed up at the end there. The 2nd thing you need to do is have 4 variations. 3 for public and custom matches and 1 for custom matches only. 2 variations will just be locking off either the west or east wing. This will significantly reduce the size but both have the main hall still. The 3rd public variation will be to just block off only the top half of the map. Just 1 floor now. The final variation which is only for custom maps, just keep it how it is now for custom matches with the option to also choose those others like Badham.

The Resident Evil Chapter broke my heart and I want nothing but the best for it. Please I want you to try and help to fix it. All I can do is ask. Obviously you don't have to but if you have the time and want to help then please do in whatever way you can. More forum posts, tweets, or whatever else you can do. Like I always said, I just want RE characters to be in DBD.

Now the new Resident Evil Chapter. It is Albert Wesker. Some said it COULD be Birkin because it's Project W but no. Project W is actually a real name in RE. It refers to Wesker. Make sure to actually make him accurate please BHVR. It is most likely RE5 Jacket Wesker because we have RE5 Chris in DBD. Make sure he revolves around his smooth movement in his power. I know we don't talk about leaks so I won't talk about some other thing but make sure everything is as accurate as possible while still fitting in DBD please. All I ask is for Wesker to just have his super speed at the bare minimum. I don't NEED him to be OP or strong. It would be nice but I don't care too much about that. Just have super speed. And his voice lines. Record LOTS of voice lines. If he had no voice lines the it'd be like giving Ash no voice lines or Nemesis not ever saying S.T.A.R.S. It'd be very dumb.

I've played all Resident Evil games since the beginning and honestly, they did good. Nemesis is perfect. Maybe add more zombies to maps, especially open/outdoor maps. RCPD is exactly how it is in the games.

Project W is in the RE universe, known as the Wesker Plan

Project W, or the Wesker Plan, was a eugenics project pioneered by Oswell E. Spencer which intended to develop an advanced race of human beings from the Progenitor virus. This is taking us back to the the beginning with Alex and Albert Wesker.

I wonder, did you ever play Umbrella or Darkside Chronicles? You know, these railshooter spinoffs which actually contained some lore relevant stuff and retcons. It's quite interesting how Nemesis and all of the tyrants originally were clones of Sergei Vladimir, the right hand of Spencer and Wesker's former superior in the organization.

You already know how I feel about Nemesis and I do agree with your sentiments, they weren't able to do him justice. He needs the sprint, the rocket-launcher and a bigger model to properly represent the behemoth that he is.

  • TheDarkTyrantTheDarkTyrant Member Posts: 1,990

That's more like I'm upset that I'm head Huntress is like Nemesis. You could just not comment though.

  • Marc_123Marc_123 Member Posts: 2,379

You know i am also a big RE fan.

But i don´t think they will change much on the models and complete power rework will also not come.

  • Sandt21Sandt21 Member Posts: 533

Two changes I'd make to Nemesis.

    1) Whenever Nemesis gets a hook, he gains the ability to sprint for a brief period. The fact that Nemesis made it to the game without the ability to run strikes me as odd, as it's what makes him so different from other Tyrants

    2) When all gens are completed, Nemesis gains a rocket launcher with a single shell that can hit across the map with a fast missle. Blast radius is 3 meters. Anyone caught in the blast radius is placed in the dying state.

That's it. That's all he needs

I would rather they just give him an addon pass and incorporate his sprint through that instead of just reworking his power entirely, way more likely to happen than something like a rocket launcher to be added.

Also keep in mind that not everything is on BHVR's end, Capcom has a bigger say in the matter on the whole thing aswell as what they're allowed to do and not, such as chris and claire's look.

Completely agreed, as much as I thoroughly enjoy playing nemesis in DBD, as many hours as I've put into him...I wish they'd completely rework his power, it doesn't feel like Nemesis...in name and in skin only. Nemmy isn't a zombie horde leader that spams his tentacle 24/7.

He's known for his intelligence, speed and weaponry and none of those were represented well. When I play bubba I feel like bubba, when I play Myers I feel like Myers (although he could use a few buffs that's besides the point), and when I play Nemesis...I honestly feel like I'm playing Birkin with a nemmy skin and tentacle ability.

I'll try to describe it in a way that is easier to digest. It's like having Freddy with nothing to do with the dream world, it's like having Myers with no stalking aspect, it's like having Sadako with no video tapes/the well. These things are tied so closely to these characters...character, that they just aren't fully them without it.

  • TheDarkTyrantTheDarkTyrant Member Posts: 1,990

Yeah I love those games. I used to play House of the Dead a lot so the RE railshooters were a lot of fun.

  • TheDarkTyrantTheDarkTyrant Member Posts: 1,990

I'm mainly just making an assumption that it is gonna be RE5 Wesker based on the first chapter which like I said, they seem to only have had 2R, 3R, 4 and 5. If they got a different version of Wesker then do that one justice.

  • TheDarkTyrantTheDarkTyrant Member Posts: 1,990

Well I'm mainly looking at the power. The models I would want fixed but the power is what I really want. But we won't get it if no one even tries.

  • TheDarkTyrantTheDarkTyrant Member Posts: 1,990

I actually did suggest that change for the sprint awhile ago. It's basically the exact same thing as the blighted serum which I had so much fun with on him. I thought they should just make that base kit since it wasn't op next to the rest of his power.

  • TheDarkTyrantTheDarkTyrant Member Posts: 1,990

Well I don't think Capcom is the one saying they are not allowed to let Nemesis move his legs to run as a power and use a rocket launcher.

  • TheDarkTyrantTheDarkTyrant Member Posts: 1,990

    Some more examples:

    Leatherface without his chainsaw

Amanda Young without any saw trap at all

    Ghost Face without his mask

    Demogorgon without the upside down

    Pyramid Head without his knife

Nd of course, Pinhead without THE box.

  • WishIcouldmainWishIcouldmain Member Posts: 3,956

Yeah, while I do think the tentacle has some nice elements and should remain with a rework although be tuned down a bit, with zombies removed, I’m sad this dream rework won’t happen because it’s likely below their radar on top priorities especially with the sadness of licensed killers know as Myers, Pig, and SADako. But one day he’ll get the sprint and rocket launcher/ flamethrower/ or both hopefully to truly be the Nemsis and not basic 1v1 go brrrr killer.

No, the rocket launcher and sprint is on bhvr for not allowing them, and for good reasons too with the rocket launcher which i'll say once again, you're not gonna get no matter what.

Also Myers without his iconic mask. Speaking of which can we get a visual rework of Myers? They nailed his power, but he looks downright goofy and the mask isn't from any of the movies

  • BadZillaBadZilla Member Posts: 461

I wished the new upcoming resident evil chapter to include Tyrant Mr X and Lady Dimitrescu as either functioning killers or skin models for nemesis which I'm not sure if they will work but with Dimitrescu her claws can work as an alternative to Nemesis power maybe.

As an RE fan as well I agree 100% with reworking the models. They always looked half done to me as well especially Claire! I couldn't recognize her at first because her face is so weird but I think Leon is fine and don't get me started when Jill looked like a Nanny.

I agree that the tentacle being Nemesis's power is well not really Nemesis and not what makes him such a big threat in RE3 or the remake. You know at any given time he could close the distance on you and you'd have to dodge for your life & his weapons as well! LOL. But I don't think they'll completely change any KILLER'S powers because yeah they just won't and haven't done it to any other killer.

AND I'VE BEEN ADVOCATING FOR THE CLASSIC NEMMY SKIN. WHERE IS IT BHVR & yeah I don't know why they have all the orange things on RPD it just ruins it for me like can we remove these? I'm not a huge fun when they add the blight effect on skins as well it's just not good like one of Nea's tops has it and it's so cute but the blight edit ruins it. :(

  • TheDarkTyrantTheDarkTyrant Member Posts: 1,990

I guess that's a good way of looking at it. You're probably right. We don't know when obviously but he will probably one day get it. Whether it's 2 years or 1 or 3.

  • TheDarkTyrantTheDarkTyrant Member Posts: 1,990

There is no good reason though. It can work perfectly fine in DBD if they put some effort into it. And if you wanna use the argument of it doesn't fit thematically, then sure it may not but I think you can make an exception. It's not scary but it's not like Barney the Dinosaur is chasing you or some crap. It's not silly, it's cool. May not be scary but it's still intense and cool which I think you an make an exception for your licensed killers. If not, why even choose Nemesis in the first place.

  • TheDarkTyrantTheDarkTyrant Member Posts: 1,990

Yeah I think it would've actually been really cool to be the first 4 survivor chapter. Imagine that and how awesome it would've been. I mean she's hideous but still would've been cool.

  • TheDarkTyrantTheDarkTyrant Member Posts: 1,990

Yeah I actually expected it to come with Haddonfield. They should've just got him over with before the license eventually runs out. Same with some others.

  • TheDarkTyrantTheDarkTyrant Member Posts: 1,990

None of them really fit for Nemesis since they are all so different. They would all have to be their own killers. They work so differently from each other. But I love Wesker so I'm fine with him. Let D would be one of my last choices honestly. I think Mr. X and Birkin would've been my first choices.

  • deKlaw_04deKlaw_04 Member Posts: 3,450

Those should be your 4 survivors. Picking background characters for the new re chapter while Chris and Claire are just legendary skins doesn’t sit right with me. Also look how good Claire looks here😭😭

  • TheDarkTyrantTheDarkTyrant Member Posts: 1,990

Yeah I wouldn't be complaining about the models if Leon didn't look perfect. I would've given them a pass except for Claire and Chris but if they can make 1 really good then what happened to the others? Jill looks like she became a little bigger in her cheeks.

Actually they did change 1 killer's power entirely. Freddy got a complete overhaul. It's not impossible. Might take a long time but it's not impossible.

The only reason I can think of for them not having classic Nemesis is they probably do not have the original RE3 license. From examining the contents of the first chapter I concluded that they only have RE2 and 3 remakes, RE4 and RE5. Jill's classic RE3 outfit is actually the RE3R variant of it. So it is basically that classic outfit, it is actually licensed from the remake specifically. Same for Chris. It seems they don't have the RE1 license so they used the RE5 variation of his S.T.A.R.S. outfit to get it. I would assume if they did have the license for RESIDENT EVIL 3: NEMESIS, they would've most likely had that skin at launch because c'mon... Of course they would have classic Nemesis at launch if they were allowed to use him.

  • TheDarkTyrantTheDarkTyrant Member Posts: 1,990

Yeah I talked about this in many different places. Why couldn't they just use those trailer models? All of them looked all good.

It not fitting thematically in DBD is a perfectly good reason for not including it and does not warrant an exception.

It's not scary but it's not like Barney the Dinosaur is chasing you or some crap. It's not silly, it's cool. May not be scary but it's still intense and cool which I think you an make an exception for your licensed killers.

What is cool/intense or not is entirely subjective and still does not warrant an exception for it's inclusion, especially not when it would stick out like a sore thumb because it's very existence does not make sense in a game like DBD.

If not, why even choose Nemesis in the first place.

Because Nemesis is not solely defined by the usage of his Rocket Launcher, it's not even his most defining feature, hell even in the RE3 remake he only gets his RPG once during his 4th boss encounter and then it's never seen again, same with his flamethrower. You can add Nemesis as a killer without any of his weaponry and it would not take away anything from his core identity.

The only thing which really sticks to the lore of Nemesis is him destroying zombies that get in his way.

So when I smash a zombie that feels correct but he doesn't use his tentacle constantly he uses his hulking figure to smash through every obstacle.

Instead of the zombies, he should have a case that respawns that lets him pick a single shot rocket launcher which can destroy pallets/walls and injure survivors on a hit.

And maybe melee hits infect the survivors with the T-virus and after a certain amount of time like the plague at maximum effect if it isn't cured it lets nemesis see the survivor's aura while they are within five meters and beyond that, it disappears and that fits with the lore of him being a hunter.

For the survivors, they've got the vaccine cases and also they could add a gun case with a gun with 5 shots, and say if Nemesis is shot directly in the heart 5 times by the gun it stuns him for five seconds and he falls to his knees clenching it and growling.
