The Resident Evil Chapter 1 Year Later

TheDarkTyrantTheDarkTyrant Member Posts: 1,990

As people know, I do not like the Resident Evil Chapter as a huge Resident Evil fan. It's my favorite game franchise. When it released it was clear they didn't know what makes the character of Nemesis what he is and I would hope realize that you can't just shove whatever you want onto a character just because they slightly did that. Such as Nemesis infecting people. Sure he can do that but he only ever did it once and the effects were completely different. Jill immediately gets knocked out and overtime would just become A zombie. This obviously isn't at all the case with DBD. But it didn't make sense to represent Nemesis in this way as if this was what Nemesis did a lot in he game. Doing this is like making Michael's power pinning you to the wall or something. Sure he did it but why is that his power? The models and killer power were the biggest problems with the chapter. Every model except Leon looks very odd and nothing like them. And I already talked about the power.

This is how it released a year ago. How is it now? Nothing has changed sadly. While I am sort of excited for the Project W chapter, it's baffling how you can just go into a sequel chapter without fixing the first. The first is still in a bad state where the licenses audience just doesn't care. The chance was ruined to bring people in but they just left after. Probably to just play Resident Evil and REsistance for the true Nemesis experience (Birkin, Yateveo and Mr. X are there as well). What are you hoping to accomplish? How many are really gonna come back when the first impression was pretty bad for them with the disrespect to the license and there insane technical issues of that time? Also remember the map basically didn't exist then. The character models were also very weird which probably pushed them away. Jill just has a bunch of marshmallows in her mouth at all times, Chris is for no good reason, A non canon version of him, and Claire was... A demon. Nemesis also has many, many small details that add up a lot and looks very odd. And what's worse is that the trailer models looks so good. Why couldn't they just use those? Anyways, people are still waiting for the true Resident Evil Chapter with Resident Evil characters. Please BHVR, Nemesis is nothing like him. Try and fix it.

He's only going to grow in power with every RE chapter.

The thing I did not like was how underwhelming and out of character nemesis power felt for him, when I am playing most of the liscensed killers in this game I feel thematically enthralled by them even if they are weak

When I am playing Sadako I feel the sheer power of her psychic abilites, a force of nature to be reckoned with that will demolish you without even touching you.

When I play pinhead I feel like a demonic, majestic being, about to bring sweet pain to survivors using nothing but my chains.

Heck, even with the older less polished killers I feel a strong semblance to their respective franchises, Bubba makes me feel like a brute about to tear down everything to feel safe, Amanda feels really strategic and precise with her movements and abilites.

But when I am playing Nemesis I feel like a buff guy with an underwhelming whip with two good for nothing hench men. Not the ungodly beast product of the T-Virus that pops out of nowhere and ######### you up. Which is really, really sad.

Worst map, boring and weak killer, well at least didn't brought broken survivor perks.

I can't even understand player count spikes happened in that chapter tbh.

The thing I loved the most about the RE chapter was the RPD map. Nemesis looks great but you're right in that he doesn't act like the canon Nemesis. I think if they would've given him a rocket launcher as his power instead of the tentacle then he would be a lot more fun. I think people were more hyped at the idea of RE coming to DBD when it was announced because they didn't know what to expect with it. For me being a huge RE fan that alone was enough to make me excited for it. I bought the chapter and even gifted it to a few friends when it came out. As for the next RE chapter, like before I was excited to hear the news but at the same time I wondered why they were going with a second RE chapter instead of something new or even a different license. I know RE is a very popular franchise but in DBD I don't think its going to carry the same hype as before. But then again maybe it will. Maybe it will even be better than the last one. I really don't know at this point. What matters is the content it brings and how much people like it. We'll have to wait and see.

what's wrong with Silent Hill ?

I am a huge silent hill fan and I feel like the Silent hill chapter was well done,it could've been better of course but BHVR did great imo.

Yeah Heather's face is weird and her voice doesn't really fit her but it's okay.

They brought the iconic Red Pyramid Thing and did him justice, his music and atmosphere he brings when you're playing against him is so unique.

Unique power where you can literally hit through any obstacles unique torment system where you can perform a final judgement on a survivor no others killers can do that, well Sadako exists but she's garbage.

Pyramid Head is one of the most iconic characters in horror video games history and I thank BHVR for bringing this nightmare to DBD.

James is ugly BHVR pls make my favorite wife murderer handsome :)

Canonically you are totally wrong. That IS how the character of Chris Redfield should look because Resident Evil 1 and 2 took place in the exact same year of 1998. So no, that is canon Chris, he just looks much more cartoony and unrealistic compared to the proper remake characters from 2 and 3 that were made over a decade after the Resident Evil 1 remake on GameCube.

Resident Evil 5 Chris, that is the only high definition equivalent of Chris in this situation, canonically doesn't exist yet and wouldn't make sense. With Project W they presumably will introduce Sheva and new Chris in this manner.

Also the trailer models don't look significantly better. Jill, Leon, Claire and Nemesis look very correct and accurate to their game counterparts but with much worse animations lol. Balancing Nemesis that way was completely intentional. Freddy Krueger isn't nearly as powerful as he was in the movies either.

my main problem is that this is the representation for alot of younger audiences who havent experienced the originals and it should be handled with love & care...

heather & james need a rework but cybil & lisa are fine (kind of iffy on lisa)

midwich needs to remove the ooze and remove the lights, make it dark or dark enough that you cant see down the halls.

(i dont know if this counts) but locking the SH theme for PS4 behind DBD: Silent Hill edition just boils my blood.

these are my main complaints, im sure i can think of more but its 6am & i havent slept yet :'((

and yes make the wife murderer handsome!!

    have you played RE1??

i cant tell if this is bait or not..

the only person in the RE chapter that was done right is Leon... everyone else got butchered.

  • not_Queefnot_Queef Member Posts: 595

Sure he can do that but he only ever did it once.

Poor Brad, even huge RE fans forget about him

  • WeenieDogWeenieDog Member Posts: 1,997

Honestly still feel scammed that nemesis can't yeet meg onto a car in game.

Dont say anything against RPD. This map is great!

  • Sheridan_LTSheridan_LT Member Posts: 341

    Have you??

Different face models though, as per RE tradition. Other than that they're identical, and this is indeed Chris Redfield from 1998 and specifically not from the events of RE5. The face model is not based on any of the face models from the games, maybe the live action one and concept art.

ask yourself did they do a good job on it??

it looks like ######### to me.

I really dislike Nemesis conceptually. 3 hits to down with 4 vaccines absolutely obliterates him in high level play. Being pressured, hit, or downed by AI feels awful in a PVP game. The game should never be playing itself for the opponent in that way. Having a good chase end due to an AI zombie patrol might be the worst feeling in DbD.

Nemesis is a pretty boring an uninteresting killer.

    R.P.D just straight up sucks.

Leon, Jill, Claire, and Chris look weird.

Honestly it feels like the only thing they got right with the RE chapter was the survivor perks. Everything else was meh to bad.

Because it's Resident Evil. It was their biggest license. It's the biggest horror game license ever. Still ahead of Silent Hill by leagues. The things people liked was the map. Probably the best part for RE fans. And no matter what people say, I swear that map is still better than Lery's and Badham.
