My PC is running Windows 10 Pro N

Version 10.0.1.17763 Build 17763

CPU: Intel Core i7-8700K @ 3.70GHz, 3696Mhz 6 core 12 logical processor(s)

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080

RAM: 16GB

Hard drive: 1TB SSD

---

This started after my PC installed the new update releasing the Plague.

Now it starts to launch, but never makes it to "press space". Instead I get this crash report, image of error and DeadByDaylight.log attached!

When I try to run the PTB this error code comes up. I was excited to try it out today but I am having trouble when I try to run the game. Any suggestions?

    Currently validating game files.

I have the same issue. I tried validating the game files of the normal game and then downloading the PTB. I have tried validating files with the PTB installed. I have reinstalled it 4 times now, and it just won't work. So I give up...

I have this exact error no matter what I've tried, and I've been working at this for over a week. The only thing I haven't tried really is rolling back my Intel driver and since the option is grayed out, I can't, and I can't find a manual install online. I'm working on abstract fixes at this point. I'm willing to attempt a blood sacrifice, I already have the goat. Help?

Maybe your GPU is unable to properly run the PTB

A couple of things could cause this issue, firstly make sure your Windows Operating System is totally up to date, run Windows Update through to make sure.

Reinstall Visual C++ - more information on this is on the Master Fixes Thread : https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/153/master-fixes-and-general-guidelines#latest

Also, make sure Discord overlay is not running - this is known to cause issues right now.

My computer has been able enough to run the game since the game launched and I even upgraded it not too long ago so I do not think that it would be my GPU I am assuming that it would be something with my drivers and or the game has changed something with the launch that is affecting me.

  • WolftimeWolftime Member Posts: 7

Also I tried changing my resolution to see if that would change anything (maybe not put soo much strain on the GPU) and no changes now that the update has been pushed out I cannot run the game without it creating the same error message. Anybody Help?

  • winnychanwinnychan Member Posts: 12

I forgot to mention. I have already tried validating my game files in Steam. I have also got the latest drivers for my graphics card. Windows update says I am up to date. Please help!

  • winnychanwinnychan Member Posts: 12

    Also worth mentioning...

I have disabled overlays in steam and shut out of Discord completely.

I have also tried right-clicking Steam from the start menu and running the program as an Administrator.

    Error still occurs. :(

I have the same problem. This all started with the PTB and the new DLC

  • serenity680serenity680 Member Posts: 6

I'm having the same issues as well. Tried almost everything. Validating, uninstalling and reinstalling. It started during the PTB so I thought it was issues with that, but turns out its issues with the update in general. I was gifted the update and I can't even play it. Really upset about this. :( </3

  • serenity680serenity680 Member Posts: 6

I am also having this issue. Tried everything as well. I'm currently uninstalling the game and reinstalling on a different drive. I'll keep you posted on if that works. Doubt it though. :(

  • StaleStale Member Posts: 20

I'm also having the same issue. Wasn't able to play the PTB at all so I just stuck to the regular version. Now that the update is here I can no longer play the game at all. I've tried about everything and nothing seems to work.

I tried everything you stated and it still does not work. We followed the guide that you sent us and it doesn't work. It just comes down that the developers and team have to release a patch, because we have tried EVERYTHING.

The game won't start the animation intro, just the sounds. Then it stays black. At the very beginning of this situation the crash reporter pops up, leaving the message from above. This problem started after I actualized with The Demise of the Faithful patch. I tried verifying the files, going to the local files and starting the game from "Deadbydaylight-win64-shipping.exe" but nothing seems to work.

@lunaposa your issue is actually different as yours is connected to your intel driver, try using an older intel driver to see if that makes any difference.

@Greengiirl yours is also an intel issue I believe (igd10ium64) is an intel file and differs from the OP's. Are you using intel graphics or do you have a dedicated graphics card? If you have a both (so basically an intel based CPU as well as a dedicated graphics card) try uninstalling the intel driver and then running the game - does that change anything?

If you just have the one gpu, check what driver you have installed - if it's the most recent one, then uninstall and roll back to a previous driver.

I've also been advised that if you have custom perk icons, this can also cause this issue so they would need to be removed.
