    they're obviously just copy and pasting almost the same response to everyone. it's dreadful customer service.

    I saw that in the posts above. Its the same E-mail but updated a bit. And their "Workaround" is to download the mediafeaturepack. Which you only can if you have a N version of Windows (which i don't. I have the standard Pro version). A post above mentioned that they "upgraded" the Engine. Why don't they downgrade the engine as long as they search for a solution. The game is unplayable for so many people now for the price of a bit better performance for the "officialy suported HW".     I have this issue with a RTX 2080 Ti, which makes zero sense if they say it's a problem with the Intel HD Graphics. I don't even have an Intel CPU, mine is a Ryzen 2700X that don't even has integrated graphics.

    And it's not a recent problem, I had the same crashes with other GPUs like GTX 1070 and 1080 Ti and have formated Windows multiple times since then. No "N" version.

    My crashes are so often that I'm afraid of getting banned for disconnecting when I'm actually crashing, they really need to fix this ASAP.

    Same thing happened to me. I have 667 hours in this game and this genuinely pisses me off. How can make a game not work on a 2018, i7 laptop?

    I have a 2019 i9 computer, my hardware isn't the problem. I have most of recent gear in my PC. It's the game. Even @skitto who doesn't have Intel has issues. Just today it crashed again, I feel it's a bug related to the infinite load screens. All my drivers and video cards are updated. If the game "runs at higher specs" perhaps they should specify them now? Instead of blowing thousands of dollars to attempt to continue to upgrade our PCS. I feel they should be accountable for this since we've only received vague information about the issue and the master directions we were given hasn't changed anything. I've done them all and yet my game still crashes. Not sure what to do at this point, every game I have on my pc runs smoothly without issues... except dead by daylight.

    Just recieved this game as a gift and played it last night with friends. No lag, ran great, obviously my computer can handle it. Got off for a few hours and went to play again and got this error everytime I went to play. No patches, no changes, nothing that I can think of on my end. All my stuff is up to date... Seriously WTF!

    i genuinely can't believe this is still an issue. im so sorry you guys; my game randomly started working again, completely ignoring the directx issue i was having after i upgraded entirely due to the specific crash that this thread is about. its like the game only works when it wants to work rather than when the consumer wants to play it. absolutely disgusting.

    it's beyond ridiculous and i've only kept the game installed on the miniscule chance that they'll announce a fix, which is looking more and more unlikely each day 🙃

    I installed dbd on a new computer, had the aforementioned issue, looked through the threads, found this, and tried it. It works for me as of now, so thx.

    For the people using intel hd graphics that cant launch the game and gets the crash report after the black screen, try with the intel hd graphics driver version 25.22.100.6326, a friend of mine had this issue and i fixed it downgrading to this version that was the last version that worked for him.

    @SnesID your english is good, don't worry... but unfortunately, yes, we can't get our money back bc the steam policy says we can only play 2 or less hours to be eligible for a refund.

    Made an account just to confirm this. I think it's an issue with the drives past this, not sure how an entire company can't figure this out while the players can. Thanks for figuring this out. Make sure to go to device manager and hit 'roll back driver' before using the .exe linked. To use the more universal drivers for intel use .6323 here https://software.intel.com/en-us/blogs/2018/10/03/new-25201006323-intel-graphics-driver-for-windows-10-64-bit-6th-7th-8th-generation
