Ruin being a Meta

Personally as a survivor main i would definitely go for a perk where its only purpose is a direct negation of Ruin... By offering this perk to survivors, Killers will have to shift the Meta if there is a chance that ruin will not affect the survivors. I also suggest this due to the decision to make ruin affect all survivors at all levels.

And to the argument that "stakeout" is a counter, it is not due to the fact that you have to follow the killer to gain ONLY 3/4 tokens... that is not enough to do a single generator... so you have to follow the killer again while the gen gets kicked and regressed... result... no real progression, useless.

For those that say GET GUD... the entire point is to break up the META... to make killers change their perks... make the game a surprise again!

Thank you

If it was REALLY easy to counter then Killers would not use it and on some maps, finding the totem is not easy or there is a stack of traps or... or... or... or...

It is a crutch to bad killers as there are a lot of good killers that refuse to use it... it is just a suggestion

Ruin isn't OP. It's annoying because you have to waste time finding it to cleanse it, and you barely get any points for it. Still, it's easy to address most times unless the totem is in an odd place. Run Small Game if it bothers you.

I find Ruin a waste because of how counter-able it is. I'll gen tap for the joke of it but to also teach them to not bring Ruin.

There is a way to negate Ruin without needing to bring a perk.

Find the totem with a map 🤣

Instead of giving survivors a perk to counter ruin.... how about we get more perks that can replace it? (PGTW buff somewhat does that)

if u add another 30 seconds for the gens im fine with this.

This is the single worst idea I read on the forum. There is no game design logic anywhere in this that remotely makes sense. To completely nullify a perk with another as an attempt to "break the meta" is punitive design. You never want punitive design if it can be avoided. You address meta problems by looking to see what is the cause for things being the way they are.

Killers use Ruin because the game without it can be played faster than a 90% of killers can handle. Even with Ruin the game still goes pretty quick as long as survivors can hit skillchecks and push through the Ruin. A perk that nullifies ruin doesn't solve the problem it ends up making it worse. There is no reason for a survivor not to run the perk. No survivors like ruin and since you can just slap a perk to be exempt from it why not take it? If the killer didn't have Ruin then nothing changes for you, if they did have Ruin nothing changes cause you're not affected. Now we have another meta problem stemming from the same overall problem. Game speed.

You could solve the issue in a proper healthy manner by looking into things like longer gens or mandatory objectives in addition to gens. That way both sides are helped out.

Honestly there already is a perk that counters ruin, it's called Stake out. Automatically hits greats just for being semi near the killer and you can save 4 at once, really speeds up progress and overall a good, nonmeta perk

if anything the ruin effect should be made baseline w/ no totem needed.

Wouldnt that nerf ds since killer definatly know you have it and wait out the 60 seconds. Sometimes if theres immense gen pressure on me I'l just risk it. That will never happen again if its baseline.

ruin its useless if youre in high rank and it should get buffed since its a hex high risk high reward

I feel like you are under the misinterpretation that killers run Ruin because they want to. It's meta because they have no choice. The games simply go too fast to give them a chance.

The way you change it from being completely meta is to give killers more time to where they don't need it, not nerf its effectiveness by giving survivors another counter. They already have a built in counter of just finding the totem.

Most other slow down perks are trash which is why they default to Ruin.
