Place Your Bets On Freddy Nerfs!

I'm imagining that his teleport will get hit somehow, and that Z Block will remain useless.

Honestly, I think the killer is good enough. (But I believe some people will disagree.)

His stealth power has been substantialy nerfed to compensate his new territorial powers, a survivor doesn't need to wake up to progress normaly (since the 50% progression penalty has been removed) and can play the whole game sleeping (not recommended, but not impossible either), and now the survivor can wake up with a new and more consitent way.

Personaly I think they've had much care with this rework. The killer isn't stronger or weaker or harder. It's simply funnier.

  • edgarpoopedgarpoop Member Posts: 2,188

He's already weak. Doesn't need nerfs to be bad. They just made it easier than it already was to wake up. His entire kit is built around gimmicks.

  • JAWS_BDSMJAWS_BDSM Member Posts: 328

They are definitely going to ruin his red and purple addons (chains and brush) cuz most freddys were saving top tier addons before rework and now they are going to use them in every game.

same for ebony mori in some cases.

thus survivors will just cry about freddy being OP, when in fact he is just strong because they are not used to him and he uses addons, that are meant to make him way more stronger.

    too bad, too bad

Watch them nerf Dream Pallets (like giving Survivors a way to tell if a pallet is fake), make Dream Snares really good, and make the Pallets part of his base kit instead of Snares. He will also be blinded and slowed right after he teleports for a few seconds. Can't have it being useful, right?

Hopefully the devs ignore all of the inevitable "Freddy OP" cries tomorrow and prevent another Killer from becoming garbage.

Are there any “Freddy counter,” perks that you think everyone will run tmw? I’ve saved addons and Gateuas so I’m planning on lots of games... wonder if I should wait a few days though to play as Freddy

  • RoKruegerRoKrueger Member Posts: 1,371

They will surely change him so when he hits a survivor they don't go to sleep instantly. It wouldn't make a diference anyway, a survivor has no real downside for being sleep

  • FredKruegerFredKrueger Member Posts: 265

I bet they nerf the dream pallets some way. People were already crying for a nerf during the ptb. Would be really nice tho if they surprise us and give us dream pallets in base kit. But, it's prolly getting nerfed to where they can either see the pallets, less pallets to use, or they will be an ultra-rare

  • GodDamn_AngelaGodDamn_Angela Member Posts: 1,457

I doubt they will do this but an MS nerf shouldn't be out of the question if they find him to be too strong. Honestly confused that he can teleport across the map but still runs at base MS instead of Hag/Huntress MS. Especially with the fake pallets add-on.

    The suspense!

  • VombateVombate Member Posts: 26

From PTB to live he was actualy buffed. Jump Rope (decrease action speed of survivors at the dream world) has been raised from 8% to 9%.

I don't see them nerfing him; he's not as oppressive as GF was at live release and certainly isn't going to be Nurse level of OP.

  • ShrekIsHotShrekIsHot Member Posts: 3,179

    Freddy: Released for a day.

Survivors: I could either complain on how 'OP' he is or learn how to play against him.... I think I'm going to take the easy way out. *crying noises*.

uhhh as far as i know theres only 1 post about freddy being op so idk what you guys are even talking about

  • GrootDudeGrootDude Member Posts: 14,126

I don’t think he’ll get a nerf, also imo the pallets aren’t good and snares are better.

    Balance Forum

This thread was actually made before his release.

I can almost guarantee Red Paintbrush is going to be nerfed in some way

Most likely the nerf will be that survivors no longer suffer from the Microsleep mechanic. So after the start of the game Freddy will have to put everyone to sleep himself in order to balance out failed skill checks no longer waking survivors up and everyone being asleep at the start

Black Box will probably get hit with something though I will say the Black Box thing just sucks for the obsession and I wouldn't mind a change at all

As far as I know, the tendency of "X is OP" threads is really high shortly after reworks or newly released killers.

Let´s hope the Devs still remember WHY they had to rework Freddy in the first place- because they catered too hard to exactly those outcries.

There are also those out there who rather hope to be handed their win instead of adapting- hence these often funny, but in my eyes rather pitty inducing "X is OP, please nerf" threads. 😅

I suspect that they'll make it possible to spot which pallets are fake somehow while you're asleep as a survivor.

  • ElusivePukkaElusivePukka Member Posts: 680

I expect he'll get fewer dream counters. It's the most sensible change I've seen around.

I hope they don't alter dream pallets. They're less useful in general against SWF, but the snares aren't particularly good on most maps as is.

  • KhroalthemadbomberKhroalthemadbomber Member Posts: 1,053

The issue with the snares is how awkward it is to set them. I've still not yet tried Freddy (been busy seeing what stuff actually WORKS with Pig's ambush now...) but have watch NUMEROUS videos and streams of higher level players all thinking they've set the snare down only to discover that, despite the animation playing, nothing actually happened and they're forced to step backwards to ensure the snare gets put in place right.

How can you be confused for his base speed? To compare his teleport to hags or nurse. Hag can teleport every 15 or 10 seconds. She can also teleport to anywhere she put traps. Nurse is teleport at will. Freddy 5 second cast time. Give survivors a 15 meter distance. To only his direction when you come out disorients you a bit. And a 45 sec base timer to ise it again.

  • CrazewtboyCrazewtboy Member Posts: 823

I would hope they have enough sense to not touch him. Otherwise we have gotten literally nowhere since his release.

I'm betting the nerfs, if any, will be to his teleport. The snares and pallets are pretty balanced. His teleport is too, but survivors don't seem to like the fact that he has very good map pressure.

I hope devs give Freddy the same love they give to MoM

  • FogItFogIt Member Posts: 21

Freddy is ok, the only thing I would change is:

The Distance of Alarmclock, it's most of time toooo far away. Or a perk for the distance or Number of Clocks. Or a slower Counter for getting in Sleepmode
