Dying light sound like that one last ray of hope while thanks to the changes all you want as survivor is to kill that pesky Player to remove the debuff
At first I thought so too but on closer inspection the hope is fading over time as each hook increases the debuff so the flavor kind of still stand. I mean the obsession is the only one that is not progressively losing more hope.
You don't loose the stacks after the Obsession dies, you just can't get more. And if someone has D-strike or you run Furtive Chase when you get a new Obsession you can get more stacks. So I'd say it still works.
"If the obsession is alive" is mentioned for both earning stacks, and the effect of the stacks, implying once the obsession dies, while you might not lose your stacks, you DO lose the slowdown penalty.
Dying Light fits the description better than ever now. It's a progressive darkness, rather than something that slams home pretty much only when a killer uses a mori.
Howdy, perk programmer here.
The description is a little wordy because we wanted it to reactivate if a new obsession is chosen after the old one dies. It won't have any effect while the obsession is dead, but it won't lose its tokens, so if a new obsession is chosen the perk will be right back at the strength it was before.
Thanks for the clarification, nice profile pic! What's the reasoning for limiting it to disappear when obsession dies since the obsession doesn't affect stacks or the slow down activation anymore? Is there anyway it doesn't deactivate but instead doesn't get stacks when the obsession is dead? Deactivating upon death can make the killer choose between leaving a survivor alive or not, which means slugging or finding someone else to chase. This creates some weird scenarios especially late game with adrenaline and such.
Why does The Obsession retain so many benefits if they are no longer in danger of being targeted.
Actually they are the person who's in the least danger as a killer would want to keep them alive so they can can gain and maintain stacks.
However they still get the buff to rescuing and healing speeds yet they gain immunity to the penalties of dying light.
So honestly when it comes down to it what's the downside of becoming The Obsession when they killer dying light.
Even Save The Best For Last that lose its stacks upon hitting The Obsession can still be a threat to to The Obsession because of the weakened recovery penalty still giving a lot of freedom to the Killer.
So, don't ever use this perk is what we're being told. It makes no sense to use this in favour of literally any other gen slowing perk. Thanks.
I think last time I checked it was 5
Would it be that game-breaking to select a new Obession when one dies or leaves?
