My Problem With Demogorgon

He's basically a worse Freddy. I like Freddy, don't get me wrong. But...

Demogorgon can only teleport to his tunnels from on top of a tunnel. This would be like if Freddy could only teleport to a generator from another generator.


His power, at best, is basically useless, and at worse, a time waster!

The fact that Demo needs to find/make a tunnel to teleport runs counter to the concept of teleporting! Teleporting is supposed to save time but it takes time to make/walk to a tunnel. This means, at best, you break even using Gorgon's tunnels; you don't gain or lose time. Which means his power is a wash. It may as well not exist.


Honestly, the only change I think he needs is being able to teleport to his placed tunnels from anywhere. Maybe give them a MINIMUM distance; he can't teleport to a tunnel if he's within <x> yards of it, so it does not gain chase-capability that it does not have right now.

    If u seen ST you would see that the upside down is in a. Tear in realitys so a set place... While as freddy... He is a dream... Also has slasher movie mechanics oh his side..he alway seems to just pop up.... Tnx

    This is a game. Game balance should come before lore, or else I could say 'Have you seen ST? The Demogorgon should just kill Survivors the first time it downs them. It never carries someone to a hook.' or 'Freddy should just kill Survivors the moment they fall asleep.' or 'Bubba & Billy's chainsaws should insta-kill'

    The only reason they play with their food is because there needs to be a Final Boy or Final Girl.

    Again; Lore is no excuse for bad balance. I get what you're saying, but it's not a good excuse to keep Demo the way he is, Yes; it's my opinion he's bad, not a hard fact, but you've given me no reason to change my point of view.

    And that is the point of starting this discussion; to either get my view changed, or see if enough people agree so that the Devs can be encouraged to alter the Demogorgon. That's the point of player feedback, after all.

    Freddy can't place a generator wherever he wants in a second. Demogorgon can also use the teleport more frequently than Freddy can his.

    Don't use all of your portals and you can place one on the fly cutting out the go find a portal to teleport bit.

    I feel like his main power is the shred attack but I do agree that the portals are useless most of the time.

    Yes but if you add the animation to place a portal (from start when you cannot move around, to when you can control Demo again), then the animation to dig into it, then the time moved underground, then the time climbing out..

    It's almost long enough to have been better spent walking to where you want to go, except in the most extremely long distances.

    It takes only 4/5 seconds to place a portal and cross the entire map...

    You'd always move faster using them unless you're putting one down every 25 meters. For comparison with shred you move 13 meters.

    You'd never use them that close together.

    Can be done even faster with travel speed add-ons

    Ok, let me actually give a halfway decent argument why the Demodog's ability is NOT useless.

    Yes, it may seem like teleporting from one portal to another makes him seem weak and ineffective, but the capability to teleport from one end to the map to the other in SECONDS while also being essentially invisible to survivors definitely outweigh the cons.

    True, you have to get access to a portal in the first place to teleport, but it doesn't take long to put one down in a location. 6 portals can allow for massive amounts of pressure with the only downside being to have to get to a portal in the first place. And half the time, you don't even notice it sometimes. Teleporting does save time. It saves having to walk across the entire map. Late games where the gens are separate might be where the demo boi really shines.

    The effectiveness of the portals is based on the areas you place them, just like Hag's Catalysts, Trapper's Traps, and Freddy's blood pools. I have seen people do wonderfully with him, even with needing to spend time to find a portal to go into.

    Demo is, at best, A tier. His ability assists in the chase with Shred, and apply large amounts of pressure through the portals.

    Thank you for the input but that also touches on the other problem with the Portals: Exit Time.

    It takes long enough to exit a portal that people can WALK away from you to a hiding spot. Thus leaving no scratch marks to show they were ever around. I've seen, in high-skill Survivor play, Demo's use a portal 2 feet from a Survivor that they never see because the Survivor calmly walks away. (It's even easier if the Survivor is using the new 'Walk faster' perk).


    To me, the portals just feel, at best, like they don't exist, and at worst, a waste of time.

    There is also a very audible noise when he uses a teleport. Even if you're not near one, you know to watch out, or hide. I think getting rid of the easy notification of the teleport would help make them more viable.

    Demogorgon is fine tbh. The only change i would make is too be bale too recycle portals of it's own accord, but otherwise he's fine. His tunnels take a long time too break, so using Corrupt Intervention or Ruin too give you time too place portals is key in using him well. Plus breaking the portal takes a long time, so placing a portal on top of a gen makes survivors loose time breaking it then actually doing the gen.

    1) You can activate a portal by channeling on top of it and your ability goes on cooldown

    2) Get rid of the mapwide notification that you're traversing the upside down

    3) You can swipe your own portal to destroy it


    Bam. The ability isn't incredibly niche.

    Yeah something about that line just made it sound like there was an implied "only". I get what you meant but it didn't quite come out right.

    Personally I think Demogorgon is better than Huntress and Freddy but worse than Hag, Billy, Spirit and Nurse. And better than everyone else I didn't just name of course too.

    I thought it was kinda lame at first to, but once you get a hang of planning portals, it can be quite rewarding. I found that 3 gen is a good use of good portals, in order to not have them wasted in what will become a dead part of the map. Also using one as bait, placing it in a spot of interest and activating it, while placing another hidden and inactive near by to travel to when the first one falls.

    Now if you could take survivors work you through the portals, that would be a game changer.
