In Hellraiser chains are shooting around everywhere. This is a chain slowly moving across the ground, like something is chained up. It gives off a completely different vibe.
I believe the "soon" was a dig at F13 devs, Illfonic and Gunmedia. Every single response they used when asked when was this coming out, or when is that being fixed was "soon". So much so that they even started putting the trademark symbol at the end. It became a running meme of a completely incompetent dev/publisher team. So, it may have very well be a slight jab at that since F13 was supposed to "put dbd in the ground".
Most Hellraiser movies use a single chain in multiple instances. The only reason I can see it not being related to Hellraiser is because it takes multiple pulls to make it taut. Chains in Hellraiser are shot out, hook, then pull.
It looks like the chain is a weapon though, because the end that pops up when it does go taut is bloody, and it looks like someone is reeling in the chain itself from the other end.
One problem lorewise though is that Pinhead never chases. He strolls calmly towards a person's ineveitable death. He simply appears out of the shadows or when you turn around. If they keep tight to that, he'd be Hag or possibly even Nurse speed, which to a lot of people is a turnoff.
I just hope if it is Hellraiser, they use Doug Bradley. It would be a shame to have an imposter Pinhead. Or else go with the real lore, and use the Engineer from the book. Although if they did that, it would probably end up being NC-17 content. Lol
A little off topic but I really want to see some kind of aquatic monster or sea ghost type thing some day. Awhile back someone made a fan art of Trapper in an old deep sea diving suit and it was awesome.
Ghostrider wasn't a good movie. Why would they buy the rights to a killer that was meh? If they were gonna go buy rights it's going to be on something actually will bring money back and potentially new players.
I really don't know if they'd do Hellraiser because of how tied to religion that lore is. Pinhead could totally work in the game though if they used the Lament Configuration as an interactable mechanic ala Plague fountains, Freddy's dream objects, etc. Would be wild if it buffed one survivor and debuffed another when a survivor used it. Like it heals an injured survivor and exposes a random healthy one.
Given all the Cenobites could be used as alternate skins, Pinhead would be a logical choice. It makes sense with the chain symbology. He could generate a TON of income.
Like even if it isn't this time around, he will be in the game eventually I am sure of it.
What if its not exactly Pinhead but rather an original Cenobite. It would be an interesting way to use a license but not have to follow any characteristics of Pinhead specifically.
As much as I'd love it to be pinhead I doubt it. If you noticed in the trailer the chains are being dragged and tighten up giving off the impression that somthing is chained to it where pinhead throws his chains he never drags them around.
True. One can only hope, right? I mean, a original killer is always exciting aswell, that means much more cosmetics as cherry on top. But Pinhead... ugh, such a dream.
Exactly. That is also something i've been figuring. I think the devs must atleast have known that they will get people hopes up with that teaser. Feels like they would have taken a different approach to it if it wasn't pinhead, purely for that reason, not get peoples hopes up. But i dont know, maybe im just being to hasty. Im gonna be satisfied in the end anyway, even though it might not be pinhead.
so i hate to ruin your hopes but its not hellraiser (pinhead) and here is why.
first of all usually when theyre getting licensed killers they attend gaming conventions to promote, this is likely to get more people to buy it to cover the cost.
Second all other licensed teasers have been very accurate and very obvious to what they are, this however is a chain (ill go into why later on)
Third we have already had 2 licensed killers this year (demo and ghostface) this killer is the 4th and final one of the year rotation
Fourth the chain within the teaser acts nothing like they do in hellraiser, the chains within the films are usually all very fast paced unless there is a panning shot of multiple chains hanging from the ceiling
Fifth, while chains are used in hellraiser and is easy to link to the movies a more iconic of the cenobites (pinhead etc.) is when theyre appearing, this is shown by a bright white light shinning through wooden planks.
dont get your hopes up, would be nice to have that license but not this time
Actually some very good points. I knew about the thing about them not attending any game conventions this year (but honestly i was just hoping it was an exception). But like i said before, a original killer will be very cool aswell. Cant wait.
Oh dont get me wrong i really wish it was the cenobites, or even just pinhead would be cool (would rather to play as the chatterer though) but all the other trailers i have been able to guess so very easy when they have been licensed, after all i grew up on these films but either way im always excited when theres a new chapter. but im feeling its a male, average speed, tall and probably a strongman build. i would like his ability to use the chain to grab people though, be some cool tricks with that ability

You may be on to something, I remember those sounds that were leaked along with ghostface that have since been unused.
edit
wait scratch that, now that i think about it theyre very similar to demodogs. I forgot he even existed

My money is 100% on Pinhead. There is a new hell raiser movie coming out this year, and the timing feels right. Chains make sense too.
That doesn't prove that it's pin head at all, I I mean ghost rider is a "killer with a chain" and your "proof" isn't even legitimate proof.

SOON(tm) is used a lot on Warframe by the playerbase. Even has a Prime version. Dev's are always dragging their heels in that game.
I don't know if it's Pinhead but I hope so cuz Hellraiser lore is awesome.

My time has come! 😈
Or it could be something very different. Multiple chains would be a better indicator.

Please….no more licensed killers

I agree, only after they give us Chucky with his original voice.
The new killer is a chain chomp from the super Mario series.
More than likely is Pinhead but the TM meme has been a thing for ages.
Soon TM is a meme, it could mean anything. But probably it means it's licenced because they chose to answer using that "TM" meme as a hint.

Learnt?...smh
i want a original killer not pinhead that’s lame

The chains reminded me of SLoth from the goonies. Want that
Yes. If you read the edit you wouldn't need to comment that. But i assume you were hasty.
Actually, thats pretty awesome aswell. Would love to see something half original half licensed based.
As much as I'd love it to be pinhead I doubt it. If you noticed in the trailer the chains are being dragged and tighten up giving off the impression that somthing is chained to it where pinhead throws his chains he never drags them around.
