u posted withing 3 mins no way you watched the video, also its a space coconut video and hes very relaxed hes just using xqcs new stream as proof for new player experience but good luck being annoying elsewhere 😀
I watched it yesterday and I was (obviously) referring to that streamer dude which this video is basically all about - not Space Coconut. I know Space is chill.
Honestly, the devs need to focus on the newer players more, once us veterans leave, the newer players will be the only thing keeping the game alive. Heck, back when I was new, I was a survivor main and DBD was a TON of fun, but that's because survivor used to be scarier (yes weirdly enough, it doesn't feel as scary anymore). When I first played killer, after becoming average as survivor, I found how disgustingly boring it is. The only thing that kept me around was literally because I played survivor first.
Now though? Both survivor and killer are boring as a new player. There's no fear or immersion. Devs need to fix this, and make the game more fun for newer players.
same, he got me into hag before she was even buffed and was borderline unplayable without utilizing her traps to the max and being extremely smart with your plays/ decisions.
xqc "Survivors have a perk that makes them invincible?!?!?"
Wrong, it's not invincibility. Someone had to tell him that in chat I doubt he came up with that term on his own. Probably a killer main that hates DS.
Granted he's not going to know what DS is as a new player, but it doesn't make you invincible. He had 1 dead already with 3 gens, he very easily could have slugged the Nea.
Also the whole bit of him going around the bus loop, yea that loop sucks but that's the weak setup. Any experienced killer knows to brute force the loop or at least bait a window vault to get a hit. He kept trying to backtrack/mind game which is the complete WRONG way to go about it.
The hit on Nea when she was hooked was BS. Yes.
And the matchmaking is BS putting him against experienced survivors, but if you actually look at the end game none of them were red ranks. In this case the matchmaking actually worked as intended putting a rank 20 killer against rank 16/17 survivors. Yes they had full loadouts and probably good amount of time in the game, but the dude just started playing a game that has now been out FOR FOUR YEARS. He can't seriously expect to do that well can he? I don't know much about xqc, I'm pretty sure he's an Overwatch player. I haven't touched that game in over 2 years, if I jumped on now I wouldn't expect to do that well even if I got match with people at my skill level because they would still have more game knowledge than me having played more, most likely. Overwatch is also a much bigger game with a much bigger player base, so there would be a greater chance I get matched with players of my skill AND experience level.
He's basically like every other new player that bitches about the game they don't yet understand. Then you have killer mains in his chat feeding him and making the problem worse. He also seems like a very ragey individual, I bet most of this is just as a gimmick for his stream.
Matchmaking needs a fix, but this honestly isn't that great of an example of the problem. He got matched with low ranks, they just so happen to be low ranks that have perks and basic sense of the game. He still killed one with 3 gens left, but let's just ignore that an focus on him eating a DS when he has no idea what it even is or getting run at a loop when he has no idea how looping works. If he got matched against red ranks and got 4e'd without a single hook then it would be a good example of the problems with matchmaking. But that's not the case.
The ONLY reason I hate playing survivor is for the struggle phase
This [BAD WORD] sucks on console, can't use both hands properly or other fingers as easily as on PC
And with the amount of perks in the game, it should have an in-game "wiki" in the menu where you can see what each perk does before a match, because very few starters will pay attention to the other's perks after a frustrating match
This is a serious problem! The new player experience is better now, but it's still miserable. I really don't know what the DBD team can do to fix that.
They have a good veteran player base, but I sense the new players can't stand for too much time.
The time is running! We will get a new iconic licence tomorrow! How many new players will stay with us after a poor experience?
I haven’t watched this video but I did watch a bit of that guy’s stream, and he was unbearable to watch. I didn’t realise how many people enjoy seeing someone scream into the mic like they’ve lost their mind. I really don’t think someone that volatile would enjoy how RNG dependent this game is, no matter how you balanced it.
As someone who has seen the video, not even Space Coconuts commentary, but i saw XQC's video seperatly, XQC was acting HYSTERICAL. He had no idea how to even play and was saying the game was trash, all because he just doesn't know how to play.
That XQC video is not a good example in the slightest.
you should watch the video its only 10 mins and its just really about xqc playing it for the first time and trying to be calm but he doesn't know anything about whats happening then he proceeds to talk to the chat that how is he supposed to know what all the perks do or that he cant loop at this area etc etc. I felt the same when i first started playing. Also i dont watch xqc if anyone thinks im white knighting him or anything the only time i see him if hes on rajj.
dbd is a game where you come into it with some knowledge of at LEAST the basics. Every new player should at least watch a few tutorials and read over what all the killers can do.
they dont need to know all the perks but knowing what the most used perks would greatly help them, the biggest enemy to new players is simply coming into this game with a lack of info. which in all respect is both their fault and whoever recommended the game to them.
The struggle phase, it never gets any better. Even as a more experience player. It still basically mash your controller/keyboard and hope you don't break it, while trying not to die.
First, you have to realize that xqc exaggerates his reaction to everything, it is an entertainment that majority of people on twitch is looking for. Second, it is not an issue that he doesn't know what the perks and mechanics of the game are. You are not supposed to come into a game as a new player and understand everything after the first match. It is was truthfully unfortunate that he happened to get a match with survivors having the perks they did, but the majority of games on low ranks is nothing like this at all. Hell, you can see worse players on red ranks than the ones xqc got.
The big point is that this game is not new player friendly, especially with the match making as it is cutrently
players who have more experience and more perks should not be going up against new players who start off with nothing. Why should my ebony mori spirit with top perks and addons go up against a team of rank 20s that have [BAD WORD] to 0 perks...
Oh hey look at that, the original video! Let's take a look.
The game in question is the first game, I'm not gonna sit here and watch this dude for an hour.
First... let's talk about the elephant in the room. THE POOR BILL!! He straight up tunnels the Bill to death, a player that CLEARLY has no idea what he is doing. He last about 10 seconds in a chase, had no awareness of the killer, and had no DS. But yea, poor new killer experience, because [BAD WORD] Bill and his [BAD WORD] experience of playing the game for all of 1 minute getting tunneled when he has no idea what to do by someone that clearly does not give a single [BAD WORD] about it, he just wants to kill people.
Then the Nea. She bodyblocks for Bill, very noble, how Bill didn't wiggle off the last time is beyond me. But she clearly is also new, though she at least has a basic understanding of the game. She also has DS, so when Mr. Tunnel comes around and gets hit BOOM he got DS'd. She then runs him for a decent amount of time, which the chase could have ended WAY sooner if he understood looping at all. He played shack like a rank 20 that's for sure. Still caught her with 2 gens left.
Now Claud comes in for the saves, GETS LUCKY that he hit the Nea on the hook, and makes the save. He is clearly confused, it was kind of bull [BAD WORD], but he still caught the Claud MAD FAST. She is another one that doesn't know what she is doing as evidenced by her very unsafe rescue and that she tries to blind him mid chase in a very bad position AND fails at it.
Mr. "I am a God at this game" (his exact quote) then picks up Claud and tries to hit the Nea down while carrying AGAIN. Only this time Claud wiggles free because he was mad greedy with it. Then he acts all surprised when she jumps off his shoulder, like bro what did you expect?!
He then chases Nea by the bus, and this is where the "this is boring" comment comes out. He has his power as Oni, chasing an injured person, and doesn't even use it. He plays the loop like someone that doesn't understand looping at all. Nea clearly does, but she's not actually all that good, just much much better than xqc.
He finds Feng, who runs away from loops and doesn't look behind her. Yep she's definitely a rank 1. Caught in less than 15 seconds.
He finds Claud again as Feng gets saved. Claud actually makes some nice moves this time and leads him on a chase around shack. Still not enough as he catches her when the last gen pops.
xqc goes to the door using his power, finds Feng again, catches her again really fast. Claud gets saved and they heal. He completely leaves the hook (Mr NiceKiller now?) and Feng gets saved, opens the door and bolts. He sees the Nea on the hill, tries to hit her from below, then follows her up and gets a hit which she then uses the speed boost to run out the door with Claud.
So in this game, xqc..
Tunneled a completely new player to death in under a minute. But no one cares about that and Space Coco's video very conveniently leaves that out.
Makes mistake after mistake and gets mad at the game.
Thinks that Claud had a perk that made her invincible when it was just a bull [BAD WORD] hit (so it wasn't something feed to him by a killer main about DS).
Is greedy AF when carrying a survivor.
Has no idea how to play a loop.
STILL GETS 2 HOOKS ON EVERYONE ELSE!! And a Merciless results screen.
Catches everyone but Nea in less than 20 seconds each time. Claud lasted a bit longer her second chase but it's obvious the Nea is the most experienced survivor in the group.
Picks up Nea like a doofus and gets DS'd. Well sir, that's what happens when you tunnel. I'm sure Bill would have happily stabbed you too if he could have.
Does nothing to protect gens or the gate. Ironically doesn't camp except the one hook on Nea when Claud made the unsafe rescue. I guess props for that.
Hits a survivor right in front of the exit gate and complains he can't catch her. Well yea, she's basically escaped at this point. Be happy you even got the hit for BP she could have just run right out.
Completely misused Oni's power, not just in terms of going for an injured survivor but not even using Demon Dash properly.
So much for a "God".
Space Coco's video leaves out all these details. This game was frustrating for him because he got outplayed and made a lot of mistakes. Again [BAD WORD] Bill and his experience, let's just cut that out to promote our agenda here that the game is soooo unfair to killers. This guy had 1 decent survivor in his game yet it's been spun to make it look like he might as well have 3 rank 1's. He didn't. They were all clearly new players except Nea, and she wasn't even that good just BETTER than him by a longshot.
Great proof of how lame the killer experience is though. 👍 The video in the OP was definitely not edited as such to push a false narrative. Not at all.
I bet if I look hard enough through his survivor gameplay I can find an equally lame game where he got completely bodied and complains about it. I don't really feel like watching this man, but if someone wants to challenge me I got nothing better to do at the moment.
Like I said, I watched part of the stream so I’m familiar with the streamer’s reactions. He wasn’t trying to be calm at all, he was screaming and raving like someone unstable.
I agree that the game needs more help for new players, but he didn’t even play the tutorial. This game has an extremely difficult learning curve, it relies a lot on RNG and there’s a ton of content in the form of perks that you need to learn. This makes it unfriendly to newbies by design. There’s no way to rework all that without just straight up making a new game.
I really didn't catch this though, whoever makes these stupid negative videos needs to take a chill pill. He obviously doesn't know what he's talking about even though he says he's played this game since 2016.
Yeah and hes right, I cant imagine trying to pick up and learn killer today going against red ranks. Ive got 4.5k hrs in this game and still lose to them so I cant even imagine how ridiculous it is for someone that has no idea whats going on
i dont feel you understood space's video its not about killer is weak buff killer its about new players (especially killers) have no way of knowing all theses millions of little things aka loops, perks, powers, drops, maps etc etc and by the time you get a good enough grasp on these concepts you already put in alot of time or you never learned and left
This game is built on RNG. Whether you think it “should” be that way or not, it is and there’s no way to change it without reworking it from the ground up.

space coconut got me in one of his vids one time, super cool guy love his videos.... as a hag player, I learned tons from watching him.
same, he got me into hag before she was even buffed and was borderline unplayable without utilizing her traps to the max and being extremely smart with your plays/ decisions.
It's pretty funny how quickly even a new player realizes how busted and poorly designed all the second chance perks are.
xqc "Survivors have a perk that makes them invincible?!?!?"
