*insert crab rave*

We all know of developer bias. Youve all heard it screeched endlessly on the forums. "Devs are killer sided" or "devs are survivor sided"

Well, the devs do tend to make balance decisions based around the survivors often, there is no denying the killer sided patches that have been added so far and have contributed to the longevity of this game. True balance is only a few hotfixes away.

However, again the developers are ignoring a significant portion of their audience. Solo Queue. Time and time again, solo has been ignored in favoring of making the lives of 4 man sweat squads and Spirit/Freddy mains even easier.

Think about this. Can you name any significant buffs solo has recieved over the years? Are they even CLOSE to the power of SWF?

How is a killer who was punished for not playing a top tier killer going to treat his next match? Thats right. With moris, tunneling and more. That just makes solo even worse

Without solo queue, there is no DBD. Im a killer main. And without solo and killer being buffed in unison, SWF will always be the power role.

Devs are $$$ sided. As they should be. They have to keep revenue coming in. So I don’t see this as killer or survivor sided. Some things work better for survivors, some work better for killers. Ppl need to quit griping and enjoy the GAME because without those devs there are no sides. When I’ve had my fill, I will quit. Then there will be someone else in my place to play.

The reality is that SWF busts the game and sends balance all out of whack. No one is at fault for this but the devs, they've had YEARS to try solutions to this and they haven't even though both solo survivors-and all killers being innately solo- let it be known how horrible of an experience they are.

but hey....instead of fixing the elephant in the room or putting more stuff in the game or getting new items or making offerings worth a damn....we get new skins and DLC. Oh, and billy gets touched for some reaso ndespite base kit wise being the very picture of a balanced but fun killer.

Why would killers want solos to be like swf when they repeatedly make it clear they hate SWF. The correct answer is of course to actually segregate swf. People should be punished and have the difflculty of the game raised for a setting that actively gives them benefits over other players, comms or not.

Totem counters is only really needed for NOED which is an end game clutch. The curse effect-which really shouldn't be in the game since you're meant to lack info...not have it innately...which is why SWF is so OP- lets you know if any active totems are in effect.

Should NOED be changed...eh...as killer I wouldn't mind although I think the end game should be changed entirely from what it is. It's basically worthless as it is now and NOED is the new bandaide to making it in anyway tense...but it's also understantably annoying for survivors to have a perk designed entirely around taking that escape from them with a TPW potential ontop of it.

Nailed it. There's the camp that wants to buff solos and killers accordingly. Then there's the camp that simply wants to nerf swfs (and possibly buff killers), which I don't know how they'd do it, because you can't nerf voice chat.

The usual divide of this community.

Also, regarding kindred basekit, maybe memory doesn't serve me well, but iirc the devs in a Q&A said they thought that was too much info.

So, I'd say they're to blame as well for being so non-committal.

Yeah, I remember them saying "it was too much info". But again, it's the same amount of info SWF have so their whole "we want to bring solos on the same level as swf and then buff killers" doesn't make any sense and it's probably just a lie. They have no clue what to do so they just say that and call it a day.

Plus, SWF get all the info from Kindred WITHOUT the use of any perks. The fact that they buffed Kindred doesn't help with the issue in the slightest.

The only argument I've heard against a totem hud counter is normally against it being part of the base kit usually people just say add it to a perk like how thrill of the hunt counts the totems in the game.

As for kindred being base kit that seems perfectly fine however it's not going to solve the problem of people just being stupid. More information isn't going to cure stupidity I've seen games as killer where solo survivors with kindred have been left to die on first Hook.

This is a clip of one of my solo survivor matches.

When even the Killer can't get the survivors to realise you should probably save the person on hook I doubt kindred is going to do much

Swf has a slew of game breaking advantages that solo lacks.

And as this cannot be balanced there are only 2 options:

    • Leave swf in game
    • Remove swf from game

As swf is never going to be removed from game I conclude that the devs have given up balancing the slew of game breaking advantages swf has over solo and are just keeping it in the game for profit.

    Yay capitalism?

  • ArtickArtick Member Posts: 618

It won't solve stupidity, but it will give solos the same tools swf have. If they are smart enough to use them or not, it's up to them.

Making the totem counter a perk is again defeating the whole purpose of buffing solos to the same level of swf and then adjusting killers. SWF knows how many totems are left without a perk, that's the whole point: SWF gets so many built-in perks and so much information without the use of perks.

Making 50 perks that when combined give solos some info doesn't solve anything.

The game would die if they delete swf's. Smh give a rework idea instead of whining to delete swf

The problem with solo survivor isn't the lack of information it's the reliance on teammates.

That is why I brought up the kindred issue well yes you can add kindred it doesn't fix you having bad teammates.

Like with the clip I showed the killer couldn't even get people to save me before I got killed my first hook.

Survive with friends even though they mess about can rely on each other. You can shoot information out all day long but it's the reliability that people will use the information that makes survive with friend so strong.

Having a total counter in the base kit doesn't mean that people will care enough to do totems if they pass it.

Perks like small games and detectives hunch help with the totem problem because it gives clear and accurate information.

As someone who who mainly plays solo when I'm playing Survivor you usually have to do the extra mile so you don't have to rely on teammate is heavily. And that's where the initial problem lies survive with friends will always be stronger because not only can I tell my friend something but I can make sure they do it.

I do nothing but solo queue, I have not found any problems with it. The game is so brokenly survivor sided, it's not hard to consistently get 20k+ points every game as a solo survivor. The only problem I see in solo queue, especially at high ranks, is the lack of variability in killers. It's not fun to go up against the same 4 killers for hundreds of rounds.

I really don't know what people are talking about when they mention solo queue, I even hamstring myself by only relying on chest-found items, I do not even run items on my solo queue survivor. As far as strength is concerned, solo is just about as powerful as SWF, you can quite easily run a killer for 2-3 gens per down, and games that end too fast are not fun for either side. I have a hard time understanding what you're even suggesting because any buff to solo survivors would buff swf.

Hey, Kindred got buffed! For the low price of using a fourth of your perk slots you get an effect that SWF gets for free and that is practically useless if you are a solo with a 3-man SWF group.

And Better Together was made! Again, for just the low price of a quarter of your perk slots you get an effect that is weaker than what SWF gets for free.

Solos and SWF are therefore basically on the same level. No more changes needed. - the devs, probably

    The correct title is:

"MMR is gone = More game health

  • TricksTricks Member Posts: 957

Give solo Survivors Spine Chill and Premonition as free extra perks then because thats exactly what swf have, a free killer proximity alarm system via audio coms.

  • TheButcherTheButcher Member Posts: 871

Solo is dead, it's a casual game. It's going to lean more towards swf than solo.

  • xenotimebongxenotimebong Member Posts: 2,803

They’ll never do anything to help solo players. They’re of the opinion that base kit Kindred would be too strong, but also that SWF comms aren’t that big of a deal. I’m not sure how both could possibly be true at the same time but it seems to be the official position. “We don’t want people to have too much information but also having information doesn’t even really help you that much.”

  • FFabeqFFabeq Member Posts: 530

People want to play with friends, not with randoms, it doesn't matter what you give to solo que, ppl who play with friends will still be playing with them

  • sulaimansulaiman Member Posts: 2,329

What exactly do you think is more healthy, and why? because I now see the rank 14 killer vs the 4 red rank who really outskill him, that made the mmr nessesary in the first place.
