I have started to play doc for something new, but i have some questions for experienced doc users.
Is he viable without shock addons?
Are there any loops that you can't beat quickly using shock and should just instantly break?
Do you mean shock range? If so then he needs them at higher ranks..and that's something you need to feel out for yourself , you can challenge almost everything with practice..just depends on where the survivor is
Rank 1 atm. Some loops just seem to have a massive window box where the survivor will scream really far away but still vault.
Good for you... I may not be a Doc main but can offer basic tips for doc
Yes he can be... just know that there's a delay between the shock hitting the survivor and them being affected by it
The longer the loop the more likely it is to break the pallet and move on... (but don't try mindgaming every pallet... get the survivors thinking that you'll break the pallet then get them with fake)
Whispers is God tier on him... let's you know when to use static blast to start the match
The calm series of addons are good on him as well
But the one thing I can say is... play your way... learn on your time and pacing let experience teach you more then watch someone else do it
Doc's my second most played killer, and I always use the Calm/Order add-ons. TR flux and Blast cooldown.
As for no add-ons? Depends on your rank. His add-ons really help with different playstyles, and you're better off using them in higher ranks.
Is stealth doc still possible on him?
Saw a streamer play one a long time ago.
If they start the vault lock doc will be denied his shock sometimes..you need to fire early to compensate for the fire delay..remember the stun is long enough you can afford to use it a tad early , also learn to implement shocks during your mind games..every dropped pallet becomes a wall when stunned by a doc shock..it can make some real checkmate plays
I'm a Doctor main, I've been a Doctor main since his rework. Before I took my break from DBD I was consistently playing a rank 1 killer, and I rarely use add ons as killer. I only use Add ons if I see a survivor I know to be toxic.
Not using add ons as Doc does limit him, as the shocking distance is very short. If you're playing Doc without add ons you will have a rough time using your power at filler pallets and T and L walls. Although you can still prevent survivors from vaulting or using a pallet at jungle gyms and shack, once you get your shock timing right.
Just have in mind when playing as Doctor have in mind after you shock a survivor there is a delay of around a second, where after the survivor is shocked they are still able to vault and use a pallet. After this delay they cannot, getting the Doctor shock timing right comes with experience.
As mentioned above I've been playing Doc consistently at rank 1 since his rework, whilst it'll make the match a lot harder it's possible to consistently win as Doctor without add ons.
Doctor is my main, I'm extremely familar with his power. Which enables me to be able to use his shock effectively without add ons. Someone who isn't a Doctor main may struggle without add ons.
You CAN but it's really difficult. I prefer to have as large a TR as possible to cover my movements.
My bro is the only doc main I know, but I know a few things from here and there, the shock takes 2.5 seconds to land, but to your question yeah you really don't need shock addons, when I use him I just go double calm addons.
Yes, it is possible still, even illusion doc is possible atm.
But it is extremely difficult.
Agreed. Doctor is one killer where terror radius is a bigger is better scenario (not saying as a fact, but using the most powerful builds I've seen on him it's true).
I use the one add on that increases terror radius while static blast is ready and decreases when on cool down. This coupled with the distressing perk and unnerving presence (not overwhelming presence), overcharge and either bbq or bitter murmurs ( whichever is your preference for tracking). I use my static blast in the closest cluster of gens to find people early, then when madness is building try to keep your static blast full so unnerving presence keeps effecting skill checks. That plus the overcharge skill check gens will start regressing like crazy.
One other tip that I'd like to share. If your lobby consists of a Blendette squad use the red stain addon... It's so funny one Yamoaka estate when madness goes up and you see glowing red patches of tall grass 😂. Huntress lullaby is great too but the totem is always gone after 1 to 2 hooks.
You can definetly play him without those addons, you just have to shock the terrain in front of the survivor to anticipate their movements.
Very long loops are the ones where he struggles a bit (especially without range addons), by they are few so it's not really a problem, he still is a 115% ms killer.
A trick to use better his shock is to not expect survivors to not being able to vault a window or pallet, because often they will (probably because of lag). Once they are shocked though you know they can't vault back, so once you let go the shock go on the other side of the loop to get the hit.
i don't think he needs range addons but he does need addons in general, as without it, doctor is not as good, as madness effectively is worse than with addons
Also doc is amazing with his "Discipline", "Calm", and "Order" as "Discipline" is a must have because it helps you in a chase as well as rewarding you for good aim. "Calm" and "Order" is also must haves as it makes it helps you find survs with static blast and recovers it faster
and no "Restraint" is not as good as people think it is
The range addons are amazing but sub par when you are either good at predicting or being in range
Also the best perks with him is definitely Whispers (as it shows you when to use static blast) and Save the Best for Last (as it greatly benefits m1 killers)
As for loops, it all depends on what loop and tile you are in
Doctor can get by without addons but I highly recommend at least one shock range upgrade.
