Blight is a better Wraith

gatsbygatsby Member Posts: 2,339

They're basically the same concept, but Blight is a better execution. An M1 Killer with high mobility to get around the map and find chases. The difference is that Wraith's power is literally just mobility, while Blight's is much more versatile because its mobility and helps in chases.

I bet in a speed run test Blight could see a Survivor on BBQ and zoom across the map to start a chase with them faster with Wraith could. If you really wanted to see the parallels, you could give Blight the add-on that makes him undetectable while rushing (Vigo's Jornal) than he'd literally just be better Wraith.

Even with both speed add-ons, I don't think wraith's speed goes past 200%. Base blight is definitely much faster.

  • gatsbygatsby Member Posts: 2,339

That's not really the point. The point is that Blight can travel the map faster and give them less time to react than ringing a warning bell and assuming they didn't see you coming before that (even though they usually do see you coming)

You are completely correct that a Windstorm Wraith is at times functionally the same 115% M1 killer as Blight during chases without the option to run down W holders.

Blight's Rush is 230% movement (Same as Hillbilly without the charge) if you bump something every 3 seconds to maximize it at 15s~ of that speed to traverse (More realistically like 10~12s). Cooldown is 10s maximum (2s base per charge without addons)

Wraith's base cloak is 126.5% with Windstorm adding yellow (140.3%), Green (144.9%), Purple (149.5%) with a 3s uncloak and 1.5s cloak time by default.

The playstyle difference is that much like Legion, Wraith will often try to body block the survivor to create a dead zone so their 1s speed boost will be enough to land them a hit. Blight cannot do that given his power BUT his is arguably stronger than that during chases inbetween pallets or when converting a lot of tiles into dangerous ones by good use of your power.

If collision on certain objects across maps were smoothed out to match their visuals more accurately and his FOV was raised to more accurately match his model - Wraith actually being worse than him even with his key Windstorm addon (If we consider Blight's Pink Compound on the equally powerful as Wraith's pink addons which are pretty strong).

Both killers are good, but Blight takes the cake.

I sort of see where you are coming from, but Wraith is also a stealth killer. Blight doesn't have that option just because he's so loud. Plus, as you said, Blight is much better in a chase and has much better mobility. I feel like a better comparison would be Demo, Billy, maybe even Oni and Nurse. All have out-of-chase mobility and in-chase power.

Wraith isn't really a stealth Killer. You can see him coming and he has a warning notification. His power is actually just mobility its not really stealth unless you're standing still and camping for the full invisibility or using the iridescent add-on. Otherwise the Survivors will always have a head start on you... which doesn't really scream stealth to me.

I consider Wraith as a sort of semi-stealth killer. I think a true stealth killer should excel at landing surprise hits. Depending on your add-ons and survivor positioning/tiles, Wraith can absolutely land some surprise hits, but it's more common that they know you're there and you just try to position yourself so that your little speed boost is enough to get the hit, rather than a hit coming out of what feels like nowhere.

I'm sorry, are you seriously suggesting that the killer who's only power is to turn transparent and Undetectable is not a stealth killer?

  • gatsbygatsby Member Posts: 2,339

Yeah. Think about it. How many surprise hits do you actually get from Wraith? He's pretty telegraphed

Killers like Pig and Ghost Face legitimately jump scare me sometimes, Wraith only does with his Iri Add-on

Did they raise Blights FOV yet?

Actually I happen to get a lot of surprise hits as Wraith at rank 1 on very open maps. I just come from one angle then yeet myself around to another and crabwalk to the gen, listening to see when they've left (ruin+Undying so I'll hear regression start). It's pretty fun.

he is a stealth killer, but you are supposed to hide behind objects and not walk in the open, the same as with Ghosty or Myers. Imagine him being completely invisible till you uncloack behind someone on a gen, that would be pretty OP, they would have to make his uncloack a little bit longer then. It would make more sense tho if they would make him completely invisible from a distance (eg 24m or 32m), like Freddy.

Wraith and Blight are not really comparable, they both have mobility (considering that you use Windstorm, which everyone does basically), but Blight's mobility is not as easy to execute. You constantly have to find objects to bounce off, sometimes you don't and then you get a fatigue. The reward for the right execution is a much faster speed than Wraith, but everyone can hear you. With Wraith, you are more flexible and stealthy, but not as fast and deadly while using your power. You are supposed to not walk out into the open, but approach from different angles and uncloack behind objects, like a stealth killer would. The mobility is just necessary because his basekit isn't deadly enough to make him viable, he doesn't have insta downs like Ghosty or Myers. Blight's power is much more a power to end chases quickly, much more deadly, plus you can use it for high mobility, but it's a bit harder to master i think. Nonetheless there is a reason Wraith is considered low tier and Blight not so much.

the only thing wraith has that blight lacks is the ability to use the speed boost from uncloaking at medium and small loops to land hits. However blights ability to easily stay on you, pressure gens with his high mobility, and can even hit you in between loops makes him objectively better.

  • White_OwlWhite_Owl Member Posts: 3,600

Yeah, no. What you describe is a noob Wraith, a good one will 100% be unseen until the last second before he hits you.

  • solidhexsolidhex Member Posts: 691

don't forget about the missing terror radius, it's the main strength of his "invisibility" and the thing that makes you sneak up on people.

  • PigMainClaudettePigMainClaudette Member Posts: 3,842

Well, the "surprise" part of his attacks last quite a while. Same with Post-phase Spirit. So technically the answer of "a lot" would be entirely appropriate. As for true jump-scares, like Pig, T-I Myers or GF? Not so much.

Its a hard one tbh (both are kinda lacking).

base Wraith is trash but he has some very good addons (all seeing / windstorm / silent bell). He can also ignore BT.

His movement is also more efficient (sure blight is fast but he has to slam and cant run the shortest path).

But survivor dont have much counterplay vs a good addon wraith while blight can be outplayed cuz of his super bad turnrate and the lack of stealth.

Wraith also works with expose effects.

Dragon Grip should also work better on Wraith.

    In a nutshell:

Blight is better until survivor abuse the low turnrate then wraith with good addons should be better.

I would guess that green or purple windstorm Wraith probably can get around the map faster than the Blight. Even with good wallbouncing, Blight needs his power to cooldown and also frequently self-stuns. There's also plenty of maps that are relatively hard to navigate with Blight and even a single failed bounce would put him behind distance wise.

If Blight is using his power to try and sneak up to gens, that means if he fails he is starting a chase with his power already on cooldown and having to fatigue. You would get screwed extra hard by the anti-stealth perks like Sprint Burst / Spine Chill.

If you are not using your power to sneak attack the gen; Wraith will by default get more distance just because you start chases at like 4-5m with Wraith during an ambush. Blight they start gaining distance or repositioning at 32m without perks. For the 2-3 perks to make blight a sneaky almost stealth killer, wraith is just an actual stealth killer and can have 3 slowdown perks instead.
