We have deployed a fix for an issue that was causing players to lose pips when a match was cancelled.
No update is required, but this may take a few hours to be applied across our servers to all players. Thank you for your patience!

So... Why did they remove Hatch Grabs again?

I seriously don't remember if they even discussed Why; but it just sounds like another Catering to Survivors who want to use the One of the Many Things that survivors get for free in this game

Because you can do this magical thing called closing the hatch. If you try and tell me that's survivor handholding I'll have to ask you to re-evaluate your world view because it really, really isn't.
edit: Also if I remember correctly you couldn't grab a survivor who's using a key before EGC anyway so there never used to be a way to deal with keys either. Can't wait for them to get changed but that's besides the point. Considering how the killer closing hatch actually seems to get priority from the servers (from my experience as both killer and survivor), I fail to see how this is holding the hands of survivors.
So.. you magically just can't grab the people who tbag at the hatch, so they can be toxic before the killer can get close enough to close it?
Depends on who finds it first and the egc timer and the killer I mean a stealth killer and get on and close it by being smart a few range killers can slug them when they get cocky and run around it feeling safe or like your killer profile picture you can grab them and yank them off the hatch
Lol get a grip. If something like T-bagging gets you wound up then online gaming may not be for you.
It was to stop hatch standoffs.
If the killer could still grab they could decide to not to close the hatch so the egc would not start.
Catering to survivors?
Do you think killers want to stand on top of the hatch for 1 hour and wait for the survivor to jump in?
But that would leave gens to still be done; if they want to go That far, but I see your point
Everyone else is suggesting Slugging the 3rd survivor and other weak, boring 'tactics'
“Ugh devs just cater to survivors all the time! Not fair daddy!”
”don’t patronize me”
If the survivor has a key hatch standoffs still exist.
It does but if the survivor doesnt do gens or if the gens are close enough in proximity to where the hatch spawned then we have the old standoff scenario which negates the purpose of the egc itself.
It's better then to make closing the hatch when found the best option so we can all move on quicker to the next match.
Even before this change I personally would just jump in or walk away to end the game but unbelievably some would stand for over an hour staring at each other.
People have always and will always slug for the 4k to stop the opening of the hatch but that's down to the mindset of each player.
The survivor just escapes; no way around it
They removed it while also adding the ability for the Killer to close it so now it's a race to find the Hatch. If the Killer gets there first, they close it. If the Survivor gets there first, they escape.
I think this game would be Far Better if the hatch just Wasn't a thing anymore
Lol you do realize that hatch grabs are still very much NECESSARY to counter a Key? Else it's a lose-lose situation for killer, and the devs have showed they want to alter the game in a way that NO lose-lose situations can ever occur.
It was always just a way to end the game but then people found ways to abuse it.
If there was no hatch then the doors would have to power which then means making them further apart and it would be survivor sided.
They tested just closing the hatch with no egc and survivors would still stealth around trying not to be caught so it prolonged the game still. Its was a lose scenario when it came to find a mechanic to just end the game.
You know that my edit was to show that you couldn't grab when someone used a key so your point is invalid right? You couldn't grab a key then and you can't now.
But you should be able to grab someone with key
Worth mentioning that killers still have advantage at hatch. If survivor gets there a bit before yountheres not much you can do. But killers have the option to close the hatch OR you can stand on top of it and body block it. That way if there's gens left you can wait there for them to wander by or till they do a gen and reveal their location before you rush into the EGC and have to guard 2 doors
I agree. Alternatively they should just delete them. However that doesn't change the fact you can't, and never could, grab someone with a key.
I had a match as Demo with 2 survivors left. I downed the 3rd survivor and didn't feel like slugging so I just hooked her. BBQ revealed the 4th running and stopping at a spot. So I run there and big surprise Nea is standing on the hatch but it hasn't opened yet. I get on top of her and I close it before she can jump in. She was pissed lol.
I don't miss the hatch stand offs. Besides bringing a key I see the hatch as first come, first serve.
The devs forgot that keys existed.
If the survivor and killer are on top of the hatch as it's about to open then the killer will always be able to close it faster than the survivor can jump. So there's no hatch grab necessary.
Devs wanted it so whoever got to hatch first gets it. Killer can close it, if they find it and survivors can jump in, if they find it first. In situations where both are on the hatch, waiting for the third survivor to die, then the killer gets closing priority. No need for a grab animation then.
