So...apart of all what i wrote above, in your honest opinion because i know you read this:

Did you do a good job at balancing him the way he was...?

Well been a month at EU have not see one all honestly... at top rank at veary least.

Still play against and as Hillbilly on occasion... the immediate post patch where overheating literally never happened made the change pointless then the subsequent nerf to make it overheat if you're using your power to patrol gens then immediately getting into chases has made him "less" fun to play than before but not underpowered at all considering he's still an insta-down killer. Still chaining multiple saws off Infectious fright or at least forcing pallet drops before returning to pick people up

I'm red/purple in NA I see atleast one a game session with random days seeing a bunch (guessing dailies). I do see a bit more Leatherface since the changes, and they actually move around the map more instead of face camping. It's weird.

tbh its not like billy was a very popular choice before his nerf anyway, so not a whole lot has changed for me at least...

though i too think the nerf - especially the "adjustment" that made it easier for him to overheat again - was not executed very well.

his heatup should have been the same as bubbas, where it starts up while charging the saw and goes away as soon as you eigther stop charging, deactivate or activate the saw.

at least thats my opinion on it - neat add ons though.

I guess u guys are right, but even before the nerf, compared like to Freddy, spirit, Oni, Nurse(not nerfed one), think he was veary competitive, the thing was, due the addons that exist plus couple hours of playing him you get a gap, but skill and a skilled survivor made it really skill dependent killer in my opinion veary least.

I mean compared to the nurse, i do think billy got it harder... meanwhile it also annoyings me seen other killers similar no billy aka Oni Outperforming the Billy....

Sure Oni does not even the power all the time...but a good Oni can do alot of damage, if survivors makes minor mistakes, sure samething goes for billy... but it does not give the "vibe" billy was...

FOr example one youtuber i usely see (my preferencial ofc) either Monto or Otz and theres couple of others, but special monto i literaly rare to see him touching billy, yes sometimes he does but is not much was he usely does...

Resuming, it sadness me the state of this Billy, it was powerfull for those that where new in the game or had only some little knowledge of the killer but still...Meanwhile other MOST powerfull ones are still runing around at free...

Wouldnt mind that change btw, i mean right now, i do think billy should be raised "just" little bit...to be like Nurse, like, nerf but deadly, "dont overrestimate the killer" opinion.

I also barely see him in my survivor games, but the problem isn´t that he´s weak: he's not. The problem is that when when they said they were nerfing everybody panicked and started 'oh my god they killed billy' 'billy is dead' and etc. billy is in my opinion stronger than he previously was with the addon reworks(i´m probably really wrong about that though, lol)

Mods don't have anything to do with development.

The "devs" on the forums have nothing to do with the actual balanceteam.

Your voice will not be heard.

No billy is really weak and that's coming from an old billy main. His mobility and instadown are great but if survivors are efficient he stands no chance. Even 3000+ hour legacy billies I have been able to loop for at least 4 gens, if you never fall for the mindgames then he simply cannot catch you. Thats why I believe only anti loop killers are viable against high skill survivors. It doesn't matter how fast you can go or if you can instadown survivors if you cannot catch them in the first place.

Funny how he posted in these very forums more than 4~5 times in the last week though. Now whether he implements your suggestions or is interested enough to respond to every single concern or discussion that comes up is another matter.

Also whether he bothers to respond since he is probably limited by policies from higher ups and probably limits the transparency the playerbase is allowed on everything they are actively working on. There's also a fact that he gets attacked by a dozen+ people for anything he says because apparently to them he isn't a human being worthy of a modicum of respect if their views on game balance runs in contention to what he and his co-workers on the live balance team think.

I don't personally agree with a lot of his balance opinions either or even his commentary/gameplay decisions when watching his twitch stream channel but I feel for the guy having to deal with the attitude he gets whenever that red "Dev" tag is added to any post

I'm still seeing him about as much as before and the only Billy that ever overheats are the ones champing with their saw up and the ones generally spamming the saw.

  • NursesBootieNursesBootie Member Posts: 2,159

Don't forget that they nerfed him after the release. If you're using your chainsaw optimally you get punished again.

  • EndstilleEndstille Member Posts: 2,246

For me the stupid roar kills billy completely, also seems like his timing for the flick was changed so all muscle memory one had is gone.

I tried him couple of games and wasn't able to get a single curve and said f it, he play like a mobile old bubba for me now. Meaning you use the saw for mobility on the map and only backrev, which has nothing to do with skill and is super boring. rip billy, F.

    This.

Optimal billy play (curving, etc) has been nerfed. You're not totally limited but the overheat definitely comes into play when trying to play well with him.

  • jisp3rjisp3r Member Posts: 307

    Wanna know what happened?

I bet some people said he was nerfed and everyone stopped playing him just because the word "nerf" was spoken.

He is still strong. Never overheated his chainsaw and now he got some fun add-ons to play with.

  • AxeAxe Member Posts: 1,061

While I dislike the overheat his not dead, I perform as good as I did with pre rework Billy.

I am sad people quit playing him cause they heard "nerfed" and "dead"

His still an amazing killer. He was A tier back then and his still A tier right now. People just need to learn and adapt like Nurse mains did with Nurse

  • ZozzyZozzy Member Posts: 4,488

    His chainsaw is louder

He makes a stupid roar to hand hold rank 20 babies that don't look behind themselves

His camera was shoved further forward to create a huge sight dead zone infront of him to help rank 20 survivors 360 him

He can't really pay around loops any more.

His turn rate at the start has been nerfed and is now a big arc. i use to be able to 360 on top of the hills and now i can't.

his movement is janky and the camera moves around to much

He is dead. They listened to the rank 20 WAA WAA and didn't stop to think if this would be fun to play. You know, "FUN" that thing survivors are demanding other killers be nerfed around because they like to 1v1 for the entire game.

I don't think that this can be compared. Nurse still has her power while billy gets punished for using his power. To get an actual curve/flick it takes time to position the survivor accordingly, doing that gets you to overheat rather quickly, when you go for milly well yeah but otherwise against good survivors? nope

€dit: At least for me it is a nope, not gonna bother and why would I. Oni does almost everything he does with way less frustration, thus oni it is. I mean i am sure there are some very good billies out there but to me the frustration is not worth it.

  • LqFLqF Member Posts: 57

the thing i always wanted to know though, what the nerf impacted him the most? loop curving? i heard so from a lot of other billy mains.

  • Kind_LemonKind_Lemon Member Posts: 2,559

I have seen Billy once. And it was a rank 10 (I was red ranks at the time). I couldn't stop laughing at how stupid he sounded and looked.

I miss actually being threatened/scared when facing a good Billy (and Nurse for that matter).

Billy is dead to me as killer because of the roar. That is the worst change they made. He is in the trash chute because of that. The other changes I disliked was the sound and look of the overheating tank and the tinny sound of the chainsaw. Additionally, I hate the sound of him colliding into obstacles now because of how it sounds like he both chainsaws into it and hits it with his mallet (the devs overlapped the two sounds). Furthermore, the devs didn't address the issue of how big his hit detection range is and how that still often leads to survivors saying, "How the **** did that hit me?"

So, they did nothing but make him less fun to play (probably also tried by publicizing a known character of the game to bring back customers who left). Thx for that, devs. Hate every bit of it.

  • Kind_LemonKind_Lemon Member Posts: 2,559

people stopped playing him because of the roar (note that I put this first because I know it is very true for me and is true for a number of other players. The second part of this sentence is more broadly true and more accurately reflects the cause of people's decision to not play him) and how he is just generally less fun to play. dead doesn't mean not effective. death is the result of dislike and abandonment for whatever cause that may be.

Attributing it to people saying "nerf" is falsely attributing it (and also probably implies something false about the depth of thought and independence of most players who enjoyed Billy).

I personally can’t stand the POV change and then staring at the ground after a chainsaw. Don’t get me started on the annoying as all hell growl.

  • Kind_LemonKind_Lemon Member Posts: 2,559

This comment below is why people stopped playing him. And Nurse mains didn't "adapt" (wut), they just either used the add-ons to make her as close as she was before, played around with her only for memes, or just stopped playing her (I am of the latter since I used to play a lot of Nurse back when she was significantly more entertaining to play).

I feel you 100%. As soon as that happened in the PTB, I let other people deal with the overheat mechanic, and I immediately began advocating for the removal of that....thing. Didn't happen because the devs didn't care.

  • ShrekTheThird69ShrekTheThird69 Member Posts: 327

Yeah it did effect loop curving, even attempting to curve at every opportunity will result in your chainsaw overheating extremely quickly. Also curving is not a viable strategy against good survivors the main thing that made curving good was the old crack billy addon combo. So basically his addons were carrying him to the high teir killer status, without them I would consider him to be worse than demo.
