Half of the game "problems" are in players heads
The game does not have many problems. It has some like every game but everyone is so overdramatic about them.
Over half the things they are "ignoring" are fixes to problems that don't exist.
because they have limited resources and can only do so much per update even if they know what all the problems are it still takes them a while to fix it and they also usually are forced to fix the spaghetti code around it so that similar problems don't occur in another month or so when new stuff is added
Then they should hire more people? They already get enough money their overpriced skins.
How much money do they get? I am genuinely interested in knowing... can you share your source?
I think the problem some people have is that the devs aren't fully transparent about why they make certain changes.
The example they gave for Pop I understand since it makes sense. However they don't explain certain changes to perks like Huntress Lullaby.
I think if they engaged a bit more with the community on why they are changing certain things it would be better.
You're being far too optimistic. The community, or at least the vocal ones, are far from reasonable and won't be happy no matter what the devs do.
Personally I think the release notes and other info from the devs is a lot better than most games offer.
They aren't ignoring "us", it's just there are people like you who for some strange reason think your opinions are more important than anyone else's.
I think they are just trying their best. I mena nothing is perfect
Just playing devil's advocate. There are times I feel like they don't speak when they should. If they are making a change they know the community won't like they will stay quiet which is something I personally don't understand.
The community sometimes can be too harsh and complain without really thinking through the changes.
I'd say they need to offer more info though. Unlike other games this one has a few differences:
Since each change they make will effect both sides they need go explain why they are doing these things.
There are other things they don't answer which I personally feel like they could.
Thing is everyone with these "GOOD" ideas probably are people you like or the ideas are the ones you like, but you don't like the other ideas so they aren't "GOOD" ideas. a game like this has millions of lines of code, you don't just draw the levels and characters and it works. you have to write code that says for example "Set NEA = Player 1" then you have to put in "Set Player 1 Perk 1 = Urban Evason" and then 3 others like that, then an item needs to be set, then two add on's and then the offering. that right there is 9 seperate lines of code (and yes some programming languages allow those to be put into one line, but that is actually a bad idea but you have to count each command as a line even if on the same line. now do that for 4 other people. Now add in the ranking/match making aspect. and then add in all the possible actions a character can do. then you have to add in the lines of code to define the trial zone, and how to populate it with structures etc and what windows and doors should be open....
This is literally a simplified idea of the coding and there is much much much more involved in doing so. These fixes are not easy to find where the fix is for examply you find that you have an issue with the system stopping the heal at 99.9% and people are not healed like they thought right away. where is the issue? is it in the healing routine? in the detection of full heal routine? is it in the med kit routine (brown/green medkit no add ons or other perks are exhausted after one time). where does the error happen? and perhaps the error is finally found months later to be in the stun routine causing a variable to be incrimented that shouldn't be. and YES there is an idea that you could easily have something not even affecting where the bug shows up to be the cause. (this was for a bug issue)
Now lets look at another issue, one of "what is causing people to disconnect?" oh is it the killer nodding their head, or playing the lery's or hawkins maps? or is it people that just did not like what they have to face and they just decide to leave the match. well ignoring networking or client crash issues we are left with behavioral causes, and some say if they are slugged even 1 second then they dc it's not the fact the killer downed them and ran off but their own hubris thinking their fun is more important than anyone else's. so how can the dbd dev team fix this? they can't because that's something about how the players are themselves. so depends on what your view of what the problems are in the game and the answers given in this thread won't always work either. so many things to consider.
The main problem I have with the devs is that their priorities are completely whack. How long have people wanted Ebony Moris and keys changed that they just ignore? What about map balance changes (for both sides), like Ormond, Haddonfield, The Game? What about Iridescent Head Huntress (and other busted add-ons that have been untouched for a very long time)? Then they added the shitfest that is the Midwich hold W simulator map. I, along with many others I know, would like them to FIX what is currently in the game rather than adding NEW things that will ultimately need fixing in the future.
Like it's all about what the collective group wants and if that will break the game or not. When they introduced new gen sounds that sounded like a funky car, but we weren't fixing a junker in autohaven, we let them know this was a bad addition, and that went away with the next fix.
Cus we ask stupid questions like "Why is the dead by daylight team ignoring us?" in hopes to get a response. That, and the sheer amount of people yelling that the games sucks for no reason other than "I feel like it".
I mean the only answer you need to this is "they believe their balance changes and decisions are what's best for the game" and why shouldn't they believe that? They've been making it for 4 years now, and we already know how they make most changes: If they've "looked at the data" and "are happy with the results", it's a W.
Bad maners are the result of the dev's actions.
I think it is more that most of their budget goes to art and design compared to game health (only 2 balance devs)
we have only two people trying to balance the ever increasing pool of perks, powers and all these maps. A game with this much stuff needs more.
The second version of DS was more healthy i prefer the jungling over the 1 minute invincibility we have after each hook
from where do you have the information how big the cosmetics team and the balance team is?
I dont really think anbody believes the Devs are ignoring the community, but i do think many people might question if they actually understand their own game. I lost a lot of faith when i had to do the survey tbh. Some stuff was very strange, like are they really asking us if we think Mori or Key are fine?
Honestly some changes that will easily make dbd less frustrating and more enjoyable are still not yet in the game, and those are small changes that dont require much effort.
To be fair, the folks who post here on the forums are a very small percentage of the entire dbd player population. Putting the survey on the actual game will get them better numbers to make an informed decision.
Imagine.... Two different or more different teams working in different bits of the game. I know, it's hard to picture for some of you!
A coding team
A cosmetic team
A team investigating bug reports
Comments like this make me really hate being a member of the forums.
I just want them to fix the optimization issues for current console and focus more on game health than tweaking random useless perks like slippery meat (which is still useless after changes). Feel like fixing optimization issues and bugs is one everyone wants but they won't spend time needed on those. The last survey they didn't even share on social media, only those who logged into game or forums saw it. Why not share survey on game health in all locations?
Sure thing and nothing wrong with what you said, but why do they even have to ask this questions in first place? I am not talking about the forum, i mean in general. Just be a random player, play the game a few hundred hours (hopefully devs all have), get 100 red moris, play 100 games super sweaty and use them and then see how many times you win and how much rage you will harvest at endgame chat.
I am not a fortune teller, but i know you will most likely will almost all of your 100 games and you will get a lot of rage. So now again, why do we have to ask the community if Mori are okay?
And keys aswell. Have you ever lost against a key? Every killer knows that feeling when i happens, you play a good round, you deserve a few kills and then they escape with a key they found in a chest. Whats so difficult to understand that this is not fine, im sorry but i dont get that.
This community mostly spits poison towards each other and devs. And asking for DS nerf because they can't tunnel for easy 4k.
Oh. So this is just a place where most people complain a lot?
TBH guys.. DbD team doing really well.. optimatization? on PC it runs smootly.. on consoles.. they are weak.. tons of games runs poorly it's not about optimization but old hardware.. if the new gen gets support then games will run smoothly again on consoles.. balance? they are doing a good job in it imo (there is always crybabies to whine for something).. content? we get enough content to keep the game fresh.. DbD increasing in population (mostly) since release.. 4 year games usually starting to die.. DbD is in one of the best spot since release period
