PS4 can’t play with PS5.

I'm on my PS5 and my gf is on her PS4 but we can’t join each others lobby. If I wanna play with her I’ll need to download the PS4 version to my PS5 but why would I do that? We didn’t have this problem while I was playing on my Series X. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is an issue and if it’ll be fixed in the future? UPDATE: I have cross play enabled and it still wont work.

Unfortunately you need to enable cross play. For whatever reason they've decided to make cross play mandatory to be eligible for cross-generational play.
Yeah no I tried that and it didn't work. Sorry I should have mentioned that in my original post.
You have to invite people from within the game itself as invites outside the game don't seem to work.
This also isn’t working.
That why after 15 minute of lobby simulator i did not find a game and i just close the app. I dont want to play cross play pc player are a bunch of hacker
