Yes, I know. But what do you think of this idea? For example, if you're playing on Badham it can be snowy in one match and the other one it can be rainy. At the beginning of a match, it always shows the name of the map and the realm's name and with the new weather system, it would also say rainy, snowy, thunderstorm, etc... What do you think of the idea?
I doubt that is a good idea. right now, you can disable the fog due to your graphic settings, so only ppls playing on higher settings are actually affacted by it. That leads to a disadvantage if you use the "better" settings. I doubt weather would be any different.
Stop thinking about balance all the time. Do you think it would be nice to have a weather system? There's no disadvantage in having a weather system. What do you think of this idea? "For example, if you're playing on Badham it can be snowy in one match and the other one it can be rainy. I would love to see more weather, anything that adds atmosphere gets a yes from me even if its just for a single map. More specifically, I want a map that has light rain and occasional soft thunder with a mix of indoor and outdoor areas. Don't want the weather to be too distracting, but having some ambiance when i'm just holding M1 on something as survivor would at least be more stimulating audio wise. Even better if the time of day is set at twilight or a bit after, when its just dark enough to see the sky light up.
Could be used as a natural evolution of the Fog system. Have weather effects get harsher when the "Fog" is thicker, or vice-versa if offerings are used to lessen it. Could also enable the Reagent Offerings to be useful on some of the indoor maps that don't have fog by giving them unique "weather" effects tied to the system.
However, my biggest concern would be how these effects would likely obliterate the game's performance on any platform that isn't using high-end tech. If you're on current gen (soon to be previous gen) consoles or using a middling PC, DbD could realistically become unplayable when intense weather effects are active.
So I think it would be pretty neat from an atmospheric perspective and could create some unique balance/strategy nuances on each realm, but I don't think the game or the hardware running it are at a point where they could handle this effectively yet.
I wouldn't be happy but I wouldn't be unhappy either. It'd probably be nice on pc, it would probably make console lag because we're talking about bhvr.
Aside the bugs this would surely cause. I don't like another RNG introduced into the mix, Both sides already has to worry about whether they got a good map or not, Then if the tiles are in their favor or not and the list goes on and on.
Adding thunderstorm into the mix that could possibly mask Survivor breathing, Footsteps, etc or a Snow weather making vision harder plus fog offering can be a pain in the bum.
So yeah the idea looks good visually and on paper but this would be very horrible when actually implemented.
It wouldn't just be a console thing. DBD also has minimum specs, so things like that could also effect systems on the lower end of the minimum spec. The moonlight offerings also caused issues with lighting, which hindered them creating maps with other lighting or maps with even something like rain, which was possible after disabling it (e.g. Huntress Red Forest map).
It'd be a cool system for sure. But the possibility of lag for a lot of players is risky. Not everyone has a high end PC. More people have a low end PC or own a console. There are certain type of scenes in games that tend to be laggier than others, e.g. huge crowds, changing weather, etc. Rain is a good example in games. It tends to drop FPS for people
I don't think you should underestimate console anymore. The next-gen consoles are very powerful now. Many people say that the next-gen console DBD experience is much better than the old consoles.
Yes, especially if rain and stuff had different effects, like scratch marks and blood washing away a little faster or the killer terror radius being slightly compressed
That's true but most people don't have access to the new consoles yet, even if they have the money to afford one. Plus it's not like BHVR will just drop support for the older consoles. They still need to be considered when adding new content that could cause performance issues.

There was moonlight offerings a few years ago but they caused too many problems for the devs to continue using them.

I guess I'm confused why they were an issue. When I used them it didnt seem overpowered.

I think it would be cool. Would love to see a map with heavy rain tbh.
It wasn't op. It causes some problems with the game. Also seemed like a pointless offering to them.
Oh okay.
This was brought up in Dev stream a year or so ago regarding Red Forest having the rain weather effect.
They said it would be quite difficult to do other weather effects as the Red Forest one took a lot of effort.
They have been doing minor weather effects since. Lery's has drifting snow, and Ormand has very pretty flurries.

It would be Cool but how it would it work for Ormand

I would absolutely love it but only when it's raining.
Why would it make console lag? The series S and X are optimized.
No, god no. Imagine the bugs caused by this, imagine what would just break only to never be fixed.

Why do you guys say it would have so many bugs? I mean they would test this feature before releasing it to make sure it has no known issues.
That's what you'd think. Until you realize this is DBD and everything released usually has a plethora of bugs.
I wouldn't be surprised if something like snow or rain made the game lag on console. Bhvr doesn't take the necessary time on console to do it.

Nah. We already have red forest and Ormond for weather.
Yeah, but I'm not talking about next gen consoles.
Do you play dbd? 😂
Not to mention, PS4 base should be more than enough to run dbd at a smooth 60 FPS. Should being the key word
Welcome to feedback, where discussion on topics dies =(
Hello 10 frames per second 🤣
