Healing etiquette

If a wounded survivor comes to you and crouches, heal them. If you unhook someone, don’t automatically assume they want healing. If they want to be healed they will follow you. Don’t follow them unless they are immediately heading for a nearby gen that’s close to repaired. Don’t be pushy with healing others at the expense of getting objectives done. Tea bagging next to me to heal while I’m busy fixing a gen is super un-helpful. Want to help? Fix the gen! Maybe I don’t want to heal because I’m running a perk like resilience that only works when you’re wounded. Maybe I have Second Wind. Also, if Nurse is the killer, just assume that it’s unsafe to heal near her within her terror radius.
Anything else?

Don't nonstop teabag/flashlight click while someone is cleansing a totem, just wait the few seconds and they'll heal you when they're done. Don't block survivors in corners that were finishing up cleansing a totem because you couldn't wait 10 seconds for them to heal you.
Use 70% Isopropyl alcohol to disinfect the cuts and hook holes. Those outside hooks are rusty so a tetanus shot may be needed. Also the killers don't properly clean their weapons. They just wipe the blood with their hands. Unsanitary. 🤢
Nurse main? 🌚
@JustZed32 🤣
If you suck looping against Bubba, why are you wasting so much time healing? He’s just going to knock you down again! Just use Iron Will and soldier on!
I'd just add one thing, pay attention to see if the person that's unhooked you has We'll Make It - cos the amount of times that people don't notice that I'm running that perk and can get healed super fast is staggering.
Totally agree with this post.
Please don’t get me killed or yourself trying to get your autodidact tokens I know it’s a really strong perk when it works but please do it safely. I need to remind myself this when I run it lol
That coming from a "nurse" just made my day.
If a wounded survivor comes to me and crouches while i'm at 70% or more gen progress I absolutely will not heal you first. Possibly a hot take, but my reason is two-fold...
Far too often a survivor will t-bag me while i finish the last 30%, only for a killer to come over and interupt me at 95%. The injured survivor scatters like a scared puppy and the generator never gets complete (possibly even popped if I'm caught in a deadzone). In that scenario, I will not have been able to finish the heal, but I would gladly take a protection hit and aggro if the teammate helped fix the generator.
I agree. Except when you ignore me and I'm 99 percent healed. At least take a second and check to see if that is the case.
One of the more aggravating things for me personally, is when you unhook someone, you know the killer is in another chase so they won't be coming back to interrupt and the guy you unhooked just runs off. Like..ok. If you don't want to be healed, thats fine. If you want the fastest heal, you'll stay put after unhook so I can get it done or you'll follow me to a safer/better spot.
Also goes the other way, when I'm unhooked and I crouch for heals, and the guy just runs off, despite it being safe. Then I get into another chase and b/c no heal, I go down on 1st hit instead of being able to prolong it even more.. Bad feeling.
If I wanna be healed by the person who's on the gen I'll be t-bagging until that gen is done.
There’s something else I’d like to add. If another survivor has come to you, PLEASE stop doing your 4567 second long Self Care and let the other survivor help you dammit.
I’m divided on that one. Recently that same thing happened to me, I allowed the person to heal me, they screwed up the skill check, the killer noticed, and I wound up dead. It’s situational, so there are times when I absolutely do NOT trust others healing me.
What I do is I get the gen to about 95% and then stop to heal them
If the killer comes, you can pop it off quickly and run like hell. If the killer doesn't come, you can give them the heal before the big neon "WE'RE OVER HERE!!!!" firework pops off.
I'd say I wait to 99% on the gen but since I'm solo, I can't/don't expect the wounded survivor to realize my plan so I have the 5% buffer so they can stop before it finishes. If they choose to finish it instead and risk it, I'm fine with that too but I want to give the hurt guy the option.
Healing etiquette goes out the window if I have healing challenges.
I only heal a survivors if they remain under the hook crouched. That's usually a sign of 'Heal me please' so I oblige. When you see me doing a Gen, and the killer is clearly chasing someone else, please for the love of god, just get on the damn gen and help finish it, THEN we'll see to your healing. I swear, I've had so many survivors having some kind of seizure because the gen was almost done and I didn't take the 16 seconds to touch them because they magically forget that Ruin is still up and that 16 seconds of regression is a pain to get back. And if I see you Self-Care yourself once when I offer to help, you can be damn sure you're finishing what you started.
That’s fair.
Unless HL or Unnerving is at play, I get super pissed off and flabbergasted whenever someone fails a healing skill check on me.
They’re freaking huge. How?! HOW DID THEY SCREW THAT UP?!?!
Definitely not. Helping a person like that who is so self serving that they demand that you stop fixing a nearly completed gen to heal them probably wouldn’t return the favor if the tables were turned. Or at least I wouldn’t trust them to. An attitude like that means they’re likely destined to die or worse get you killed.
If the other teammate is already there, it's probably better to let them heal you. Think about another situation where the killer shows up 3/4 through your Self Care when you would have been healed and on your way if you had just let your teammate heal you. The occasionally missed healing skill check is unfortunate, but at least with another person there they can take a hit. If you're solo and miss the skill check with the killer nearby, you're just going down.
IMO getting off a gen to heal is better than finishing it first. Once it pops, killers tend to go towards them because DUH someone is over there. Then there's an injured survivor being an easy target.
If a survivor won't get off the gen to help, then I move on to someone else who will and end up making them a last priority when they need help in return.
Nothing more annoying than having we'll make it in a public game; and a survivor runs away 15 feet to start to SELF CARE though.
Don't body block the person you are healing. Make sure they can get up and run before you lock them in place.
If I'm cleansing a totem and you want healing stop bouncing up and down like an inpatient child and wait a couple of seconds then I can deal with you if you're going to continuously to annoy the hell out of me then go find someone else or a medkit because I'm not healing you.
Also if I have we'll make it and the killer is across the map when I unhook you please don't run off into a corner to get healed because I'm just going to leave you to your own business and I'm not going to chase you for it.
Objective wise you're wasting more time then you save.
Relatively speaking you're having two people currently not working on objectives at that stage you might as well just have that person self-care by you. The use of a comparatively the same amount of wasted time. ( granted this is without modifiers for example healing perks or special medkits)
I keep running into people who run WMI, and they'll follow me for up to about a minute tea bagging and flashy clicking because they wanna heal me, and forcing the interaction whenever it pops up
I dont ignore to be toxic, but the most common build I run is based around being injured, resilience and spine chill and dead hard and adrenaline, when I'm running this I'll only ever heal up if Its a dire situation and we need to do a clutch hook save, that cant be done whilst injured
But this wastes so much time and I think enforces bad habits, because they feel that its OBLIGATORY to heal, the amount of times I've been trapped on something and been knocked down whilst the other person refused to leave the heal animation.
Do they, though? Maybe if they’re nearby and don’t have any other leads. Otherwise if I’m the killer I’ll go defend nearby gens rather than go to one that is already a lost cause and the survivors presumably have already run away. There are few safer spots to heal than by gens that are already finished.
And if you’d rather run away to fond someone else to heal than you are to fix the gen then it tells me that you have zero long term plan for survival. You’re sure not going to escape with that behavior unless it is through the hatch.
That same thing has happened to me and one of the reasons why I posted this thread. A person pestered me for like an entire minute and kept trying to heal me while I was running resilience and wouldn’t take the hint even though I kept breaking away from her heal and literally pointing to tell her to go away. Stupid people!!
I tend to 99 the gen, then do the heal, then finish off the gen so we can both scatter and bolt.
