Devotion?

I've looked everywhere in the patch notes to find this but what is the devotion it shows on the level after a game?

    You get a point in devotion every time you reach level 100, then your level resets.

    Basically, think of devotion as the prestige system for levels instead of the bloodweb.

    I have no idea what this devotion system is for. Perhaps one of these days they'll add something for it, but for now it's just to show off how much you've played.

    I am curious to know what devotion does aswell. Can a dev comment on this? If it does nothing right now what is the planned purpose of it?

    Basically what Beaburd says. Once you hit level 100, it resets back to 1 and you get one level of devotion. Think of it like prestiges for your player level. Or if you've played Overwatch, think of it like the way the leveling works there. You hit 100, then you reset back to 1 and get a star.

    Short version, it makes it so you can keep leveling to earn more shards.

    @Peanits
    But do you get a star in DBD though?

    So its only function is to just help you keep track of how many times you reached level 100. I wonder if there will ever be any rewards for achieving devotion levels.

    Do you get more shards the more devotion you get though?

    I think the Devotion as it is now is kind of a dud. It's just another way of saying how many hours you have. However, maybe this can be verifiable now as true time played and maybe that in itself is a good thing because it can lead to some kind of leaderboard.

    Something better, might be to add a coloring scheme (like they do with common, uncommon, rare, etc.. since that seems to be a theme) to indicate the average of your rank. So if your average is 20-17, then you'd be a brown Devotion Level xx or if your average is 16-13, you'd be a yellow Devotion Level xx-- all the way to 4-1 where you'd be a red Devotion Level xx. I think that's something to brag about.
