Jason Voorhees: He's actually a real possibility now.

Jason Voorhees.
The 1 big killer missing from the Dead By Daylight world is actually able to be acquired and added to the Dead by Daylight roster, as far as I can tell.
OK, so hear me out. After looking into the final decisions of the court the final decision was in favor of the original author of the first movies script, however, that is actually not a bad thing for DBD. In the first film all that existed of Jason was a "ghost boy at the bottom of a lake", and not the hockey mask machete wielding killer who he is after the first movie. Thus Miller has absolutely no rights to Jason as we all know and love him. Those rights and story are completely owned by Horror Inc who are aggressively looking at opportunities for the character now.
With the legal dispute now resolved I can't see any reason as to why Dead By Daylight can't acquire licensing from Horror Inc to add Jason Voorhees to the game. The only exception currently is that there could be no mention at all of the first movies title (Friday the 13th) listed in the game and they'd have to be careful with how they explain his back story making sure not to infringe on any rights that belong to Miller exclusively.
The "Friday the 13th Game" has a major issue because they used aspects from both new and original Jason movies and content. Thus they can no longer do any additional content to the game.
Now that the lawsuit is over Dead By Daylight would not have that issue as it will be very clear what they can and cannot have in the game. And should the independent developers of the Friday the 13th game hold licenses that DBD would need to make the character then I honestly don't see that it would be that difficult to acquire the licensing from this small independent developer that now has a game which can only go downhill from here. It would be smarter for them to sell whatever rights they have to the game, perhaps with contingencies that their game in it's current state can continue to exist and make whatever money they can off of it before it's completely dead.
Feel free to discuss this, or tell me if I'm missing anything that would still be holding DBD back from getting him in the game?
Comments
I would normally say: Trapper's kind based on him (Mask, doesn't always just come up to someone to kill them, big buff guy etc.), so that wouldn't happen.
But then they said they based Hillbilly on Leatherface and brought him in, so, y'know, whatever.
I was under the impression the ruling was immediately appealed?
I don't really think anything has changed.
Horror Inc. has filed for an appeal meaning that no Friday the 13th content can be made yet. On top of that Horror Inc. and Victor Miller seem to not be able to reach any sort of agreements at the time being.
No he won't.
Having any licensed killer at all since the devs rebought the publicing right from Starbreeze is unlikely, since they where the one that where doing the demarching to acquire licensing deal in the first place.
Pretty sure that's incorrect. Link plz.
They never said "No more licensed killers".
The way I see it, if they ever were to add Jason to DbD, he needs something different from whatever has been done so far. No similarities with gameplay in F13 the game, but maybe basing it on the movies. Which means, no traps and no teleporting (Spirit is the most similar to that).
I honestly don't care if they ever add Jason or not. It seems like the design space for his character is pretty crowded already. What would his power even be?
He does this in the movies frequently. Players would know when he is charging his meter because he would either be moving very slowly or just standing.
I think it might require some tech because what if the survivor was running face first into a wall? Would be push the survivor back or just teleport behind the survivor....anyway, kinks to work out.I
Haven't given thought to perks of add-ons but I am sure the developers could think of something.
Just one idea. I know people compare him to trapper a lot but I see him playing very differently.
No more teleporting please. That's literally his dumbest, most unbelievable power.
Maybe he has to lose LoS first, so it's more like his movies.
Aside from that..I am not really sure what his powers would be.
So shrugs.
I think the trapper is way too similar to Jason to bring F13th to the table, the only thing that could possibly make it more interesting is giving Jason new perks (obviously) and the trappers traps (so you wouldn’t immediately know what killer it is) and an extra type of ability of some sort related to Jason , then it could possibly work but then who the hell is gonna play the trapper after that?
next killer will equip a whip,
middle range attack without the wind up time of the huntress when preparing hatchets
effective to punish suvs behind a dropped pallet T-bagging u maybe
He's always been a possibility it's just a question of when.
I wouldn't mind Jason being in the game, although I always imagined "Spirit Fury" would be suited to his character of being unstoppable. I would be interested to see what they came up with.
Idk, what would be his power though? would he randomly teleport like in the game and just be like another nurse?
Stalking. Stabbing. Very original.
no. They have their own game that the lawsuit stopped production of. Horror Inc will probably try to fix that..
However the idea of getting Jason as a drowned boy from the original writer is a pretty exciting possibility.
As for drowned boy's power: He'de be some kind of stealth killer.
The slasher jason we loves power was tried out in the beta of the game, and removed. That power being the ability to crash through walls.
the trapper is a pseudoplagiarism of Jason, nuffff sez
Yea I really hope we get Jason some day....right after pumpkinhead of course;)
Jason doesn't teleport. Where did all this come from? You can't use F13 as source material to justify the power.
Exactly. Michael already has the stalking and stabbing ability. He has to have a different enough ability to fit into DBD.
He teleports off screen in the movies hehe. Seriously he gets around way to fast...but then again so does Michael;) For DbD they can just make him like a different version of trapper. Take the trappers terror radius perk and make it like the wraiths bell (using his theme music of course) where you dont know exactly where its coming from. Maybe allow him to stalk like Myers but harder to see. Could make it so he can hide in the shadows or blend in with the environment for first few seconds after he comes into your field of vision. I would suggest a range attack but I dont really want him to be like the huntress. Maybe...and this would be hard...but let him be able to smash through walls or effect the environment in some way. Or (this isn't a exciting idea for a perk) allow Jason to be immune to all suvivor aura perks. Oh and I'm sure he would need a obsession like perk but call it something like last suvivor and make the kill reward more points. Just brainstorming here hehe.
