Attention Steam and EGS players: a quick hotfix will be going live today at 11AM ET to address file validation reliability. Thank you for your understanding!

What is McLean thinking??

I've watched a video on Youtube where McLean stated that the next couple of patches for DbD are extreme hype and that he can't share them with us until they are revealed.

If this is one of those 2 patches considered to be hype, this patch that unnecessarily nerfed Freddy(some of his new add-ons are so incredibly stupid and pointless, not that he didn't deserve a nerf, but it's kinda pointless, to be honest, their decision of how to nerf him), Demo(Congrats BHVR you have managed somehow to NERF one of the weakest killers in the game at the moment, only God knows how you are able to do that) and Twins(Seriously? Longer cooldown after succesfully downing a Survivor with Victor? Twins were already bad, what was the logic behind this decision???) and boosted Lucky Break into a broken perk(Good Luck finding any Survivors from now on), this patch that brought so much dissapointment all around the community, I am so afraid of how utterly terrible and pathetic the next patch for Dbd will be.

I seriously can't wait to be immersely dissapointed in the following patch, another patch that is supposed to be "hype", as one of the devs said. We have been all, but "hyped"!

And of course, not a single thing will change from PTB to live servers, because we already know our opinions fly out of the window regarding changes applied to PTB!

Brace yourselves for another royally dissapointing patch that will come after this one!

He literally said: "I can't say much, but the next couple of patches are extreme hype. It kills me that I can't talk about how much cool s**t is coming".

So I'm guessing this is one of the patches he is so "hyped" about!

I don't know. I think this is one of the better patches they have ever done. With the exception of the insanely broken lucky break change which I don't see any way it makes it to live I think this patch is great. I'm pretty hyped about it.

There's something in the PTB files that suggests we're getting something from another franchise, but it could be that we're getting multiple licensed things in a short timeframe.

New corn maps look good, I can agree with that, Freddy's add-ons were weakened, but the thing is some of his new add-ons are so incredibly pointless that I have no clue what they were thinking when they created them, Iri Head bad change, could've been done so much better! OoO rework is decent, could've been done better and the other miscellaneous changes don't even matter.

Demo's buffs regarding portals and his undetectable status are weak, and his best add-on(which was used because it was pretty much the only add-on that made him viable, not because it was busted, as it seems they understood from their very much "reliable" data) was nerfed for NO REASON, it had no connection whatsoever with his QoL buffs, absolutely no connection, yet they decided to nerf it.

Twin's nerf is BAD, have you seen how bad that is? It literally PUNISHES YOU, as a killer, for playing well and downing survivors with Victor. 5 seconds of cooldown is HUGE!

And the Trickster's buffs made him from the worst killer by miles to worst killer, but somehow closer to Clown and other killers that are within his range of weakness. He still remains the weakest killer in the game!

I think this patch is pretty hype.

Freddy's nerf is pretty meh, but nothing unexpected for the most part. Still don't think they should've reduced the number of fake pallets. And while they did nerf Rat Tail, they gave Demo some really interesting add-ons that are definitely worth using. And they buffed his mobility a bit. I think the changes to Demo overall are good. Iri Head finally getting a nerf. (I dread facing Huntresses for the next 3 weeks...) OoO finally getting a nerf. Small Game gets a much desired totem counter. The twins change is the one really bad thing, and doesn't really fix any problems related to them. It only makes them worse. BT going to work against Stealth Killers now. And of course -- the best thing about the patch, the hook struggle fix. This is also big for killers, because now survivors can't suicide immediately on second hook to give the last guy the hatch.

I love it. Thanks McLean :)

Plus why wouldn't a developer be hyped about things they have been working on....

This patch/ptb is actually quite nice. If you didn't think freddy needed a nerf, wrong. If you didn't think huntress needed an add on pass, wrong. If you didn't think bt needed it's fix, wrong. And coldwind looks great.

Beyond that they have an unexpected legendary skin licensing with crypt tv coming. And a left 4 dead gnome event. Plus whatever, probably resident evil, for the anniversary. A lot of ######### coming actually.

I really hope this patch was not one of those "hyped updates" he referenced because bar a couple good changes this update is mostly awful.

Unnecessarily nerfed freddy? You know that most of the community begged for a freddy nerf since the rework right? The changes were mega deserved. About the demo changes, the thought was good, but I'd just make the liver a yellow addon instead of nerfing it, but it's overall a buff imo. Twin's nerf was more than deserved, she isn't punished for slugging at all and results in incredible boring games. I disagree with the lucky break changes but it was a heavily underused perk so I get why they changed it.

And no, the changes didn't bring disappointment. Most people were ######### thrilled about the changes. It was a successful patch. The huntress add-on rework is also extremely interesting, which you didn't mention, and the hatch nerf was also extremely deserved

McLean better fix Billy's animations and his inconsistent and slidy chainsaw hitbox instead of hyping about trash patches.

the change to OoO alone got me pretty hype so...

also no more hook struggle, that is great.

and nerfing freddy was kind of a given, I think dowsey said it best "as freddy you are just kinda of on autopilot". reducing the snares and pallets is pretty dumb... but the slower movement works. makes you be a little more tactical with when and where you snare

You guys know those Cable Tech guys from South Park, who get off by screwing their customers and tweak their nipples when they do it? That’s how I now view BHVR.

  • MapersonMaperson Member Posts: 1,636

I think the hype will be the new killers, it could be Chucky, RE or Candyman

  • Devil_hit11Devil_hit11 Member Posts: 1,574

I think the reason why he is saying that is that they just gutted one of most played killers(Freddy) and one of the most famous horror icons. DBD has always has this stigma of hurting one side really badly, but than compensating it later down the line. Like for example they over-change decisive strike but add new lucky break. I wonder what they will change for killer for this freddy change in next 3-6 months.

He's more than likely talking about the anniversary that's to happen, my hope as well is that console Blight is gonna be one of those "hype" things he's talking about.

    Unnecessarily nerfed Freddy

    ಠ_ಠ

Twins are not bad at all either and Demo was not nerfed on the whole. Even before the changes they recently announced to Rat Liver it was a slight base kit buff and a slight nerf to one specific add-on. Now it's a buff across the board.

Lucky Break does seem broken, but I bet the timer gets reduced.

    ---

This patch, like most of the patches for the last few years, contains mostly good and needed changes. And, like clockwork, all the forum does is complain about how this is the worst patch ever and how it's going to destroy the game. The game is in a better state now than it ever has been.

Are you seriously implying that Demogorgon got nerfed overall in this patch? Why? Are you seriously whining over the 4% on Rat Liver?

I personally like Demo’s new add ons because black heart is now 4 stacks of STBFL for shred attacks which is going to be insane when ran together and barb’s glasses which will make shredding pallets basically built in brutal strength. Rat liver was just a feel-good add on to begin with, personally I’ve won most average matches with demo (I’ve been playing killer awhile but I digress) and no gen slow down and I’m not quite sure why people say he is weak. His shred has insane potential and has the same zoning potential and ability is pyramid head damn near. Rat liver was always extremely overrated in my opinion, I suppose if you were accustom to it the change may hurt for a day or two but with the changes to his other add ons it will not be missed for me personally.

Honestly Chucky is very possible to be the next killer
