Survivor sided. The game is much more balanced now than it used to be, but survivors are still extremely powerful. There is a reason only 3 killers are viable in "competitive" play in tournaments for this game. Most of the time, the game is fine. Other times though, you'll wish you never installed this garbage lol, at least if you play a good deal of killer that is. Playing killer is far more frustrating than playing survivor, and stressful.
The best way to find this out is to play killer for an extended amount of time.
You don't just "learn" to play Nurse and Spirit, they are not simple killers and a single mistake with their power can cost you the entire match.
Killers don't counter anything, players do. If you see good Spirits and good Nurses then the players must have spent hundreds of hours playing them. So no, Spirit and Nurse don't counter SWF.
Id like to think it goes back and forth. However seeing as how there are 4 survivors for every 1 killer. Id say it's more survivor sided. From a business stand point, why would you upset 4/5s of your customers?
While I agree both were problematic, moris and keys were not counterparts. One literally let the game be decided in a minute if the killer was so inclined to play that way, and whenever a mori was used, that is exactly what they would do.
Meanwhile survivors have to have actually done their objective quite a bit in order to be able to use keys. No, I'm not saying they're fair, but definitely more fair than old moris were and the BS part of it was for a different reasoning altogether.
Wait I just realised you think that Azarov's Resting Place is survivor sided when it's literally the most killer sided map in the game...one side is deadzones while the killer can just keep an easy 3 gen and not even need to interact with the other side of the map. Sometimes, 4 gens spawn on one side. Like...???
It's more swf sided, but yes it's survivor sided, let's not forget about god loops, some maps that help the survivors and the keys. Killer have nerfed mori, I'm just saying it's more frustrating to play killer then it is playing survivor. I play both and survivor is the easier mode of the game specially when you're with a swf.
Obviously survivor sided because survivors almost always have chill games and killers almost never have chill games. If you think I'm wrong, stop playing your meta perk Spirit and start playing meta perk survivor.
The game is as survivor sided as it gets and I can prove it:
- the side that's OP always has long queues during prime time.
- usually, whenever a new chapter released, killers had long queues for a couple of days and the new killer was seen almost 24/7 for 2 weeks. This hasn't been the case for over a year.
- people saying: "survivor queues are longer because they want to play with their friends." Can't be true. Because if the amount of survivors that play with their friends is so big, that it causes queues of 10 to 30 minutes. Then the game would have to be balanced around SWF and not solo content.
The killers had to do their objetive quite a bit for the old moris too, killer needed to chase and down every survivor two times and only with the ebony ones, the nerf to the time the hatch stay opened is not enough. I wouldd put the keys for only working when the 5 gens are done and not opened instantly, it's absurd when a survivor with a key scapes during a chase.
Precisely due the mandatory 3 gen strategy in that map is why I consider that a survivor sided map, you are forced to mostly ignore one side of the map, and if you dont kill any survivor when the last 3 gen are together you won't win and its difficult to win if only one have died, if you have the 3 gen and chase a survivor he will always run to the cluster of jungle gyms in the center of the map wasting yourr time while the others make one of the three gens and if you drop the chase for defending the gens you can't win, this map is only decent for killers with good mobility and the ones who are good zoning, all that without counting that some SWFs try very hard to not let you achieve the 3 gen.
I've posted this before, but this is the exact same question... so here we go.
It is both depending on the skill levels involved.
Beginner? Killer sided. Their goals are much more intuitive than Survivor goals.
Intermediate? Survivor sided. Survivors have more ways to get better at the game initially than Killers do and have more ready access to good perks.
Expert? Killer sided. Once the Killer starts to learn to mind game, single out the weak link(s) of a team, and gets good perks... well they start doing very well. Very very well. Which is how Killer streamers are able to do very large 4k streaks. Also it is very rare to even get 4 expert Survivors on a single team through matchmaking.
Pro? Survivor sided. Even the best killers rarely defeat pro Survivors on comms.
That game I just had on Azarovs had 4 gens left on one side of the map with 4 survivors left. I had like 2 hooks up to that point.
I finished the game with 4 gens left and 12 hooks...
As long as you don’t commit too hard to the other side of the map you’re fine, there’s literally nothing for them to work with once you get the like 3 pallets that spawn out of the way.
Being plague and having pop definitely helped my case as well though
I agree with that 100%. Noone wants playing killer because swf is so strong. One chase meaning 3 gens. Even you leave chase and go to check gens you are still losing because when you start chase one of them, others finishing gens. Buff killers and solo survivors, thats all we need.
The vast majority of the time Survivor sided for reasons others have pointed out.
Survivors start in the winning position and need to throw for the killer to win. Thankfully a lot of survivors are bad at the game so they mess up a lot.
You get 4 good survivors and the killer is most likely losing.
I'd say in levels of power probably: bad solos < very bad swf < most killers < 4 good solos < Nurse and Spirit < good swf
Killers are too dependent on a weak link or survivor mistakes to do well, the outcome of the game is determined mostly by the survivors. So its survivor sided.
Survivors have transferrable skills that are 100% transferable. Killers more like 60-70% transferable.
Its a lot easier to win as a survivor than a killer due to the fact there is 4 of you to pick up the slack rather than the solo killer.
Killers such as nurse require a lot more time to get REALLY good at them, more so than survivors. This means that they often are more powerful than your average killer. The issue is, especially with nurse, that if you want a chance to compete you need to spend hundreds of hours on one killer to beat someone with 2000 hours will probably have a good match against a 800 hour nurse with around 2500-3000 hours in general, as nurse is rarely the first one you pick up due to her difficulty.
I'm not complaining, I just wish that a good killer players playing any killer could go against a good survivor player and stand a chance. Since we can't swap killers after launching queue this is an issue, as I can't swap in and out of my deathsquad killers (nurse, hag and deathslinger) for more experienced players/swf and nicer killers (huntress, clown, trapper) for less experienced. I feel constantly forced to sweat for the win, and it's not fun.
Difficulty and balance have nothing to do with one another. That makes absolutely no sense. Balance is what can physically happen, not how hard it is to make it happen. If it was, the community would be insisting that Nurse is the weakest killer in the game.

If we put four survivors on one side of a scale, and a random killer on the other side, you'll find it'll almost always be survivor sided.
It's just really hard for one killer, regardless of their height and size, to match the weight of four survivors.
Except perhaps Clown. He's a thicc boi, so the scales might tilt in his favor - hard to tell really.
Oh my gods, you actually are! You're honestly complaining about having to learn to play killers! Oh dear, this deserves a big fat Git Gud.
This. Matchmaking and map RNG as well as any RNG with server/bugs in general that could occur make it anyone's game at any given time.
Id like to think it goes back and forth. However seeing as how there are 4 survivors for every 1 killer. Id say it's more survivor sided. From a business stand point, why would you upset 4/5s of your customers?
Mostly survivorr sided:
It's SWF-sided but if no SWF is present it is killer sided due to matchmaking imo.
To be honest, why even care anymore?

The fact that a killer has to rely on survivors making mistakes. Makes it survivor sided alone
Exactly, and it's a 4 v 1. Not to mention survivors start the game uninjured too. Survivors need 5 gens and a gate and killers need 12 hooks
Obviously survivor sided because survivors almost always have chill games and killers almost never have chill games. If you think I'm wrong, stop playing your meta perk Spirit and start playing meta perk survivor.

Killer sided at the start (solo and new to the game) and survivor sided at the end (SWF on coms, know loops and how to use 3rd person camera)

It can be both survivor and killer sided. It all depends on RNG, Perks, Maps, etc.
Literally just played a game on Azarov’s where the survivors 4 genned themselves on the building side of the map lol
100% Survivor sided. Watch Hexy's Tournament if you don't believe me. Survivors won almost every single time against extremely sweaty nurse/spirits.
SWF sided most of the time (assuming it's a balanced map and not a killer-sided one). Anyone who says otherwise is a bad surv

On the highest level of gameplay (comp) its clearly survivor sided.
But for the rest of us it is really RNG sided. Maps are one of the biggest factor deciding whos match will be in favour most of the time
SWF > Killer > Solo
It is SWF sided.

Then why do people call for Freddy (pre nerf) and spirit nerfs quite often, because they are too easy for the power they have.
Of course skill ceiling is a factor in balancing, you don't make a weak killer stupidly hard to learn. That's just bad game design.
