"This is false, closing the topic, we will have a statement next dev stream." Is how you handle this if you're innocent. You don't ban the people bringing the information to the public.
Literal coverup 101 is banning/slandering the individuals who bring anything you do to light.
Well you realise it's a holiday weekend for the folks at BHVR right? why would they make a statement about making a statement when none of them are at work? Also if this is such a big "conspiracy" answer me why the website where buy the NFTs or whatever has really ######### photoshop, and answer me why they say they've worked with Dead By Daylight and not BHVR. You don't collaborate with an IP. Doing some personal thinking really helps instead of just following the trend of what others say
well if you honestly believe a company will make an official statement while on holiday, I got a bridge to sell you. Also, you realise the developers lives aren't just DBD right? Most likely they do nothing to associate themselves with the game while out of work.
Did I say make an official statement? No. I said, LITERALLY, "This is false, we'll make a statement at the next dev blog."
That takes 15 seconds of time to stop people going HMM I WONDER WHAT BHVR IS UP TO. You clearly have never worked in any capacity in PR. You're always at work
Alright, even still. There's such a small chance of them learning about the issue while off work. Even people who actively play the game have had no idea what was going on. I didnt know until I seen a thread about somebody being banned and I looked into it. So if it's hard for players to learn about what's going on, how do you think it is for people WHO ARE LITERALLY ON HOLIDAYS FROM WORK to learn about anything to do with it?
You want to know what BHVR are up to? OFF WORK ENJOYING TIME WITH THEIR FAMILIES
As for the voicelines as such, let's go down the list of possibilities:
It's what the topic speculates (very, very, very unlikely)
It's a copyright issue (not totally unlikely, but not very likely either, given how copyright and licensing works)
It's a technical issue. e.g. They are trying to have the first voiceline part sound where the teleport starts, and the second to where one teleports. for dramatic effects. and it's just not working without screwing up other sounds. (most likely the actual issue. Makes me wonder how many keyboards have severe bitemarks)
someone accidentally overwrote the files with no backup and they need to be rerecorded (not likely, but, hey, something like that almost happened to ToyStory iirc)
This is quite obviously fake. Come on, they literally say that you can only get the Chatterer if you buy their Box of BS, even though we can all go in the game right now and buy the Chatterer.
Just looking at that screenshot makes me think it's fake. I've never seen anyone with real licenses say "Our licensed products are 100% verified licenses." I'm putting my bets on incoming lawsuit from Hellraiser and BHVR.
tbh I was only asking as I found it funny that they still warn people about breaking forum rules but aren't being transparent about the actual mess here.
I think the reason a lot of people fell for this is because of BHVR's track record (at least from what I've seen commented) so for them it was hard not to believe it, other than that I agree with you.
staying quite over false allegations leads people to believe they are true. I'm not saying they need to say something right this very moment because its the weekend and the devs deserve to have time off with their families. Id rather be kept in the dark then force crunch on a dev staff. that doesn't change that it took the community doing quite a bit of in-depth research to figure out if this had any validity. I saw the nft news on multiple reputable news sites. I didn't even learn about it through dbd twitter or the forums but from a news article.
Or in this case, it was indeed because of the false information spread here. Not saying banning him was the right thing to do, your suggestion would have been better, but that doesn't mean they are indeed trying to cover up what was posted in this thread. There can be more than one reason for a certain action.
What track record? Seriously, explain what, in the past 5 years, would make this make any sense, particularly the obviously false claim that you can only get the Chatterer via the BBS (Box of BS).
It took me 5 seconds of reading the image claiming that you could only get the Chatterer via the BBS to discern it was fake. If you want people to know it's fake, just tell them yourself.
EDIT: And let's not forget, even if the devs were to say "no, that's fake", the same people would still believe it, because it makes BHVR look bad, therefore it must be true. I'd be willing to put down money "BHVR bad" is the main reason why people believed this.
why is that on me though? I don't work for BHVR I'm just a consumer just like you. I think my Public Relations Professors would skin me alive like Pinhead if I told them the answer to bad publicity is to do nothing about it and let my consumer base figure out if the claims are true. In my own experience I just saw the headline article multiple times through different news sources said "huh thats weird" and moved on like most people do when mass consuming news.
Don't pretend that BHVR hasn't made any questionable actions in the past year or so, from locking the RE sets without warning an hour after they released because people were only buying the legs and torso pieces, to a certain developer reacting condescendingly to someone asking about colourblind options (which even that prompted people to react negatively and caused colourblind options to be rushed), to a Binding of Kin's release being completely bugged but gets released regardless of the PTB feedback, to the new HUD that was heavily criticised by PTB feedback but got released anyway without any changes (until a couple of hotfixes later), to console optimisation being ignored for over 2 years (which got worse with the RE patch) and finally addressed after someone dedicates themselves to a thread regarding optimisation which now has over 100 pages and to them basically lying about how the new SBMM system works. But the game continues to get bugs every patch.
Is it any wonder why people might've fallen for this? Seriously, have a good look at BHVR's past actions and tell me you have a hard time understanding why people have fallen for this.
Why is it on BHVR? I can understand why they'd want to do it, but it's not on them to dispel every obviously fake rumor just because people might believe it. Otherwise, that's all they'd be doing.
Again, five seconds of reading was all it took to discern this is 100% fake. Even if you didn't already know the Chatterer was purchasable via the in-game store, it'd take you maybe a minute to open the in-game store and check.
I was here for all those things, you know, but to avoid going off-topic, I'll just say this: none of that is in any way comparable to this NFT BS. They already have the in-game store, why would they waste time and money implementing (or getting someone to implement) this NFT BS?
because its is about BHVR as a company. That's like saying why would celebrities' release statements on false sexual assault rumours. They are under no obligation sure, but I guarantee you its the right move to make. its basic Public Relations when you're a notable company or person. its why they even have different laws on slander and libel because they are considered public entities. They have to play a different game then you and me when it comes to protecting their image.
none of that is in any way comparable to this NFT BS.
I'm not comparing, I'm trying to help you to understand that because of their past actions (like the ones I listed in that paragraph), it's understandable why people would believe that article immediately; It's hard to have faith in BHVR basically.
And I'm sure they'll sue the pants off this entity spreading false information (assuming they're even a "real" entity, and not just a website hosted in some random country where such laws don't apply), when they have a chance to meet with their attorneys during business hours. I still don't think it's on them to dispel every single rumor in the universe that might involve them. Sometimes, people just need to use common sense.

I would like to remind everyone, please do not discuss bans here on the Forum. Thank you.

Do you have any information about the topic of the thread?
If you honestly believe that they were not aware of this topic within 10 minutes of its posting I have a bridge to sell you

:) Today is a good day.
Ohya, the NFT is fake news, but today is a good day :)
Body is 1 character too short.

For a cheaper price as well 🤧
of course not, surprised the thread hasnt been closed yet.
tbh I was only asking as I found it funny that they still warn people about breaking forum rules but aren't being transparent about the actual mess here.
What mess? It's all false information.
False information that caused uproar all over their socials, I think people are entitled to an explanation.
I disagree, I think people need to be more discerning and less trusting of random sources making absurd (and blatantly false) claims like this.
However, it is the weekend, so maybe they'll address it when they're actually at work, I dunno.
