Question from El_Barto_227

Lore questions! I love the lore of this game.

  1. We know that the Survivors have the campfire (btw it would be neat to see the campfire area slowly evolve into something more like a lived-in camp over time), but what happens to the Killers between trials?
  2. Are the killers aware of/have met each other?
  3. Why do survivors know how to fix the generators? Is it just a case of initial trial and error + instructions from more experienced survivors, or is the knowledge gifted to them by the Entity in some way?
  4. What's it like at the campfire, now that there's a fairly big group of survivors there. How are they all getting along, any rivalries or animosity growing? Does Ace get on Nea's nerve, or David pick on Dwight etc?
  5. Can Feng Min speak english? If not, I imagine that the other survivors would have a hard time communicating with her, though she is supposedly a loner according to the benedict quote on wiki so she might not care.

Answer

From Dave Richard - Creative director

  1. The Fog, or realm of The Entity is more than one place at a time. Depending on what It needs you to do (or see) the shape is going to form into the where and when you should be. Some of the Killers need to be grounded in their specific location when not hunting survivors. For example, the Doctor is in Léry’s memorial institute to be able to take notes and continue his ...research. Others are sent in a limbo state which is all Fog. They go in a dormant state, waiting for the next trial. Some Killers to be, or some that resist the Entity go in punishment. This takes different form depending on the personality of the Killer, or what is left to destroy anyways.
  2. They might have had glimpse of one another when travelling through the Fog. They saw some remnants of one another, tools left behind and such.
  3. Knowledge is transmitted within the fog. Lingering memories of long lost survivors are transmitted to survivors in time. Don’t forget that survivors are caught by the Entity at different moment but share the same space between and in trials. More experienced survivors will share their mechanical engineering experience with the newcomers. The question is, why are there generators there in the first place?
  4. (4-5) Survivors stranded on a deserted island would find a way to communicate, even with the language barrier. Nea knows English as she moved to America in her youth. Feng definitely knows a bit of it too.

    QUESTION from Knife_Bird

There's a big demand from the community for you to take a 2-3 month break from creating new content to fix all the major bugs and inconsistencies in the game, similiarly to Rainbow Six: Siege's Operation Health. Are you considering this or has it been brought up internally before?

Would you consider moving away from doing one big patch every 2-3 months and instead go for a small patch every two weeks, including balance changes? One of this game's biggest problems is the lack of, well, things happening, and some tweaks to perks, items or Killers could provide a more dynamic meta for the game.

    Answer

A bux fixing and balance event is something we are discussing internally. Stay tuned!

    Question from Cpt_RonCodpiece

Hello devs, greatly enjoy the game. Bought it on Xbone in July of last year I believe and have barely played anything else since. I double dipped and got it on PC last month.

My question is; Are there any plans to compensate players for the insane amount of crashes we have seen during this event, particularly Xbox players? I have lost ranks, many offerings and add ons, and who knows how many bloodpoints. I’ve played enough to get my coins but I know plenty of players and streamers who have not and will not reach the coin goal because of disconnects. Thank you.

    Answer

We are very sorry you have been experiencing these issues. The Crash-to-Dashboard bug has been very complex to figure out and this is why it isn't fixed yet, we are still in the process of investigating the issue. We extended the event until Monday March 5th 7:00 pm UTC.

    Question from misspence

Hi Devs! Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions!

My question is: After experiencing a larger than normal amount of Killers leaving the game mid-match, would it be possible to at least ensure that survivors safety pip. It doesn't make sense that anyone should be punished if the game is canceled early.

    Answer

    Stefan Horvath - Game Designer

I agree with that statement, we want this to happen.

    Question from Lythii

What happens to the Red Envelopes at the end of the event? Do we need to use them all up before the event is over, or will they turn into something else?

    Answer

If you have one generated in the Bloodweb prior to the end of the event, it will still be there. The Offering will still be available in the inventory, but disabled until a future event.

    Question from screamfan84

Can we get more transparency when it comes to statistics?

I know you guys provide some statistics on a certain aspect of the game now and then on the livestream. However, I think it would be really beneficial to have a dedicated window in-game or even a website (like Overbuff) where we could see escape rates between different ranks/maps/killers.

Currently, I feel there are many posts about the balance issues and I think this would give a better sense as to why certain balance changes are introduced or not.

    Answer

The in-game personal statistics is something we would like to add as a QoL change. As for global statistics, it is not something we are considering sharing in the short term.

    Question from themoon117

I'm glad your all taking the time to answer the community's question.

    1. Will killers ever get new addons? I feel like it could be an interesting way to update some of the older killers, like Trapper.
    2. There's been a debate whether the Doctor is black or asian. I've been curious on that for a while. Can you answer?

    Answer

    Dave Richard - Creative Director

    1. Most likely addon changes / reworks
    2. Herman Carter is African American

    Question from SundoWave

Can we please have Dave and Ash's Lore Dev Stream once in a while? Or at least as a segment of a stream where they talk about and discuss lore and answer some of community's lore questions?

We had such stream once and it was, in my opinion, the best Dev Stream to date.

    Answer

    Dave Richard - Creative Director
    [BAD WORD] yeah, I’m down!

    Question from NationsCake

    Completely 100% non-troll non-inflammatory honest question.

What rankings have you guys on the dev team been? For both Killer and Survivor. Do you have a decent spread of team members throughout the ranks? Do you play often at high/mid/low rank?

I ask this because some balance choices seem very.... questionable. (freddy nerfs, pallet/flashlight save buff, "infinites are a mindgame ") I feel like it's important, especially with a ranking system like this, to make sure you understand how games tend to play at each rank. Without this knowledge making balance changes completely ignores some rankings of play. It's also integral to have a good grasp on the meta. Effective pallet looping, knowing window mechanics, What killers are good and what makes them good? Vice versa for bad, without this knowledge any balance changes made would be seemingly shots in the dark.

    Answer

The Design and the CM team are all accomplished players. Ranks aren't really what counts as much as the understanding of the game. All the CM reached R1 on both Survivor and Killer since they started playing this game.

As for the other members of the team (programmers, artists, directors, engineers), being accomplished players isn't as necessary as they aren't responsible for balance and new content. McLean isn't so bad tho but don't tell him not_Queen said so
