The Cheating Issues Will Continue to Hamper Player Fun until BHVR Takes Action

Greetings all.
I'm doing one of these again, because I feel that the current cheater issue in DBD warrants it. I'm finding more and more cheaters and I know many content creators are as well. This negatively impacts all of us and BHVR's silence on the issue is not only disappointing, it's harmful.
Allow me to explain. DBD has always had cheaters. It had them when I played my very first match in early 2018 and it'll have them long after I stop playing, this is just a fact of online multiplayer games. The issue is that, over the last year, cheaters themselves have become far more prevalent. Nobody cares if there's a flying Dwight every 1 out of 100 games. The issue occurs when there are multiple hackers in 1 out of every 5 games.
Currently, due to the nature of the MMR system, hackers will naturally float to the upper end of MMR. This allows them to easily and efficiently target popular players/streamers. There are cheats that allow them to stream snipe reliably. Likewise, there are cheats that allow them to access Crossplay OFF lobbies as shown in the following two clips. Only the Dwight was cheating in the first clip, the others had no idea until he finished the gens in 5 seconds.
Most recently, there was a security flaw discovered that allowed people to grab IP's, doxx, DDoS and swat people. This is dangerous and can affect people IRL, possibly even getting them killed over a video game. Hackers are able to access private and sensitive information because of a security flaw. It was only a matter of time, we saw posts like this back in July, where hackers could access client-side information
All of this because BHVR doesn't seem capable of securing their game. It's absolutely unacceptable that they haven't released some sort of statement to address the hacking issues and it's absolutely disgusting that they haven't warned players about the security breach. We need to talk and spread awareness about this issue so that BHVR fixes it AND so that we can warn other players in the Fog.
Thank you.

I’m lucky to have found only 1 blatant cheater. But who knows how many others I didn’t realise. BHVR have to get on this now
Please add a forfeit option after ten minutes have past to prevent cheaters from taking the game hostage.
How can you betray the fps thread.
The worst thing is, that we have been hearing about players experiencing router issues after dealing with a hacker for a while now and quite frankly, these reports have mostly been met with a fair share of scepticism, understandably so. This means that the issue has been going on for weeks and it has only gotten worse, so either the good people at Behaviour are completely oblivious to potential security breaches within their game, or they're more than okay with putting their players in danger and I'm not even sure which option is worse at this point.
I agree. That is more than enough time, but then I have been saying for months the game needs a hard time limit.
I wanted to make a topic about this too, but your topic is way better. Thanks once again for a great intro for this topic, Pulsar.
The complete radio silence about the Ddos and Doxxing attacks is infuriating. This is a matter of online protection and privacy of people, who get attacked because the protection from DbD is lacking, like what happened to some streamers already...
This issue is known for at least 3 days now (and maybe longer like someone said elsewhere on this forum, but thats a rumour for me for now) and yet they refuse to even make a PSA dev message ingame that there is a security breach and you are potential in danger.
Everytime there is something, the devs just go radio silent and are not honest. Everytime when you think they can't sink any lower, they surprise you with something else.
I'm really pissed about this company atm. The bugs and the lag issues I can somewhat deal with. NFT I find bs, but that's probably the future of the world, so I can deal with that too. But when it comes to online privacy and security, when it's obviously THEIR fault people can snag your IP and private information, I don't like the way they handle this like they do now.
I'm in a two-way right now. Do I keep playing to complete the rift, where I'm more than halfway through right now and I want to complete it this time (and take the security risk for granted) or do I not play and not being able to complete the rift.
I played a match the other day with just 2 survivors and there were 2 killers. Sounds like a lot of people have experienced this.
I just wait to the day hackers can hijack accounts to a degree where they can disable your DLC or something.

It feels like this might be flirting with the limits of legality. As in, BHVR could be legally at fault here.
Now it is a good time to be out of the Fog, to be honest.
I haven't faced a hacker since that one Cheryl on Badham Preschool, but it didn't come anywhere close to this.
My last cheater was a porting huntress with infinity hatches. PC gamers should be among themselves. Exclude PC players from crossplay and done 👌
If this doesn't show people that BHVR couldn't care less about their playerbase, then I don't know what will.
However it does further prove how incompetent they are as a company, their priorities are not the upkeeping of their only successful game, but rather profiting off of it as much as possible. This can be inferred from the past few chapters and lack of response on pressing issues.
I was about it was an imitator.Dont forget the DDOSS and such
Guess how many post we need to actually make em do something?
With hackers and new games coming they are digging their own tomb *F13th flashbacks*
F13th I will just say that.
What frustrated me more than anything was seeing Behavior address the DDOS attacks to Eurogamer instead of addressing their player base first. I think it goes to show just how little they care for the people playing their game compared to the public eye of the gaming press.
Actions speak louder than words, and their inaction in regards to cheaters and hackers speaks volumes.
It’s just sickening how BHVR has been so quiet about this and continue to make their customers miserable.
Let's see if we can get this thread to be as thicc yet ignored as the performance one.
No, the replies from powerless forum moderators do not count, as they can't do anything to fix the problems.
More like player morale
I was more content to wait out the cheating surge because that felt like something that wasn't necessarily in BHVR's hands to handle - I thought it was a matter of finding a new anti-cheat or waiting for EAC to come out with their next patch. Pestering them about it, hopefully, but it was always a contracted service, not an in-house one.
But the information leak is huge and it's intensely distressing that they haven't made a public statement about it. (Eurogamer? Really? Not the actual playerbase?) This is destruction of property and legitimate death threats we're talking about here, not some screaming stunlock Davids and flying hatchet Ghostfaces. The latter are obnoxious; the former is dangerous. I recognize that publicizing it carries a double-edged sword, and that you invite more of the kinds of malicious and profoundly immature people to exploit the data leak by making it known, but Pandora's box has already been opened and it's already happening. This isn't just about getting proof that DBD is putting the pedal to the metal on this one (because this isn't something that can be put off; this needs to be patched now), it's about giving people the information they need to protect themselves. Even if protecting themselves means turning off DBD for a few weeks.
And yeah - that's really bad for the bottom line. But the alternative is even worse, because it's raw proof that the bottom line matters more than not just player experience but player safety.
It is a IRL version of "There is no war in Ba Sing Se."
Everyone knows there's a problem, but BHVR seems to think if they ignore it it'll go away.
Hackers?
No, no, you're mistaken. You're acting like there's some war against hackers going on right now.
Behaviour has informed me, however, through an external gaming magazine, that customers are of the highest importance, so there's no way they'd be silent on this or similar game-breaking issues.
Have some faith in your company.
What you're experiencing is probably a new feature, like a new survivor-type raid boss you have to overcome.
Consider it a challenge!
So calm down. You're safe now. There is no war in Be-hav-iour.
---
If you want war though, maybe try a new game.
I recommend Civilization.
I agree. Not only miserable, but actually in danger of having their info stolen.
Because performance and the lack of response is unacceptable but people could die because of BHVR's disgusting response to hackers.
I consider that worse, personally.
I've only seen like 2-3 hackers in months.
BHVR not addressing DDOS reports and cheating for several months, i will not be surprised if one day this game will run with hackers only.
Yeah, don't inform players whatever you do.
Well, the point of my other thread was to spread awareness and I'd like this to do the same.
But stay on-topic please.
Ah #########, here we go again.
Indeed.
I figured this topic was more important and certainly needed.
