Changes to Matchmaking?? This is HORRIBLE, Please NO..

Hi Guys, this is going to be a bit of a "Complaint / Concern"

Sorry I haven't been paying too much attention recently to whats been going on in the DBD world, I did read a message logging into the game that on some days there will be some MMR/Matchmaking Testing going on, and I saw a YouTube video buy a popular streamer I follow recently posted titled something like "MMR is out and it's great again, finally listening to players" or rather...

Anyways, the point that I'm trying to make is that I have no idea what is actually going on, but I am really really really worried if whatever THIS that is happening right now is going to end up being the "norm" moving forward and am completely blown away if people are actually okay with it.

Please, I would like some insight of what is happening and what your experiences are because I find it hard to believe that I'm the only one suffering right now, but who knows I could be wrong.

So, I recently dumped a ton of BP into Sadako because she looked (and is) fun to play, I have read many threads about how she is "weak" but I tried her out and I enjoy her playstyle, it's one of the more fun killers to creep up on survivors with sneak attacks.

That being said, I finally have a few decent sets of perks on her so I've been testing her out trying to learn her playstyle and for the most part, despite what I am about to say, I have been enjoying myself actually...

BUT - Enough is Enough - and this "change" that I have noticed have really MOSTLY been occuring ever since I read the post about "matchmaking testing" going to take place.

My Last 30 Games in a Row ended in a 0-1K. These Survivors are "GODLIKE" and I am using that as an intentional exaggeration because I have faced better survivors before, BUT ONLY on my MAIN Killers that I myself would be considered very very good at, and are MUCH stronger and more viable than Sadako is.

I can tell from the way they use their exaustion perks, and how fast they pop gens, and heal each other, and run perfect loops, that I am CONSISTENTLY facing the Top 10% or better Survivors in DBD over and over again, and it is honestly just TOO much... They make it look SO EASY, I feel completely useless and powerless every single match, testing out multiple different perk combos that I know should do well on her..

I don't know, all I know is that getting 30 matches in a row of mostly 0K and 4 escapes, with occasionally 1K but ONLY if I tunnel the weakest link out of the match.. which I NEVER used to have to do before, is just not right.

If Anything, Shouldn't my MMR DROP already?? How many complete utter losses does it take to finally drop my "MMR" enough to start facing more normal Survivors again? Am I just stuck in the top bracket somehow? Every new match I play I keep thinking to myself, MAYBE these next survivors will finally be more my level, but NOPE they crush me just like the last multiple teams did..

I agree with most of you on the Forums that Killer matches DID get more difficult after the initial big "MMR Release" that came out a little while back, but I got used to it, and for me personally it wasn't really all that bad.. I DEFINITELY didn't make a thread about it to complain back then!

I have been fine with the MMR system actually, on Killer, despite having to sweat really hard, I usually was able to obtain an average of 2K for a while, occassionally more, and almost never less. 2K was a solid average for me since the big MMR changes came, and knowing that is the "Goal", I have been completely okay with it and accepted the fact that is what I should expect.

But now, this 0K 80% and 1K 20% of the time stuff has got to go, if this stays, I'm finally actually going to quit DBD for real like the many others that already have.. and I swear until this moment with this "new testing matchmaking system" I have never ever felt that way before and always thought that no matter how hard playing Killer gets I will always be able to put up with it..

One of the reasons that I am making this post now, is to hopefully draw some attention on whatever changes they are trying to make being a dangerous step in the wrong direction, no matter how much they are trying to do this to please the "players", it is much worse than before!

    Oh snap, wait, I can actually give feedback!? That would be wonderful, I can be more constructive if I know there is a place they are asking for it. I only know there are things being tested, but so far the results for me personally have been SO insanely bad that it ended up making me have to come to the Forums to write an essay about it.. which is something I very rarely do, but I am passionate about how terrible my Matchmaking has been since these tests began.

    I think what scared me and somewhat tilted me, was reading people's comments on YouTube state how they are "loving it" and "happy the devs finally listening to the community" and yet for some reason I'm over here losing my mind against some of the hardest Survivors I have ever played against while trying to learn Sadako.

    Survivors are the only ones loving these tests because they get faster queues and better teammates. I could only stand to play a few killer games this week and they were the worst I've ever seen.

    I logged on Survivor at night and had near instant queues (normally 5-10 minutes), which I'm guessing is the real purpose behind these tests.

    i'll tell you my personal anedocte: yesterday i tried after a week to do some matches... usually during the night match are more chill, but yesterday it was a sweatfest full of toxic tryharders who knows how to loop and spam their 2nd chances perks... the last 2 matches i already guessed that i was (again) aganist toxic pricks (endchat confirmed this by the huge amount of insults and salt) i tried to do 2 kind of matches: 1st one with bubba (you can imagine what i did in this case... if people want to be pricks, i can be worse than them) ended with a 2/4 by simply camping, the 2nd one i used the clown with his troll addons (the party bottle and VHS porn addons), even in this case i was aganist toxic tryharders with styptic agent and a instaheal, in a map that they choose (soffocation pit), everyone with dead hard and decisice strike, ended in a full 4k only cause i tunneled one of their friends from the start. If all my matches must be like those then i'd rather go play something else cause this situation actually isn't fun at all...

    Currently we're testing different things with MMR - it's different each day, hence our feedback section for this has a daily post to get the feedback from that day only, to help with keeping track of it.

    Ah okay I understand, darn, I didn't realize that.. I had my 30 games spread out over a course of multiple evenings.

    Around 10 games per night, that being said, the experience didn't really change much for me any of the nights, it all felt really bad and the teams I was going up against were way out of my league.

    PERHAPS on my *best of the best* top killer I could get a 4K on them if I play without making any mistakes lol

    I didn't have a good time in any of these tests, i came back to play exclusively for them and to give feedback, it will do nothing because is bhvr, but i still have hope something will be done.

    I'm curious what they end up telling us when the tests are over because so far they got like 80% of the feedback negative.

    MMR based on ranks was so much better.. can't believe this game is dying and don't admit is because of Sbmm, yes, keep nerfing coh, for sure the playerbase will stop decreasing cuz of it and Sbmm is not the main issue.. smh

    I do personally think that balancing a fair way for matchmaking "MMR" is probably challenging for this game, as there are so many components to consider and the whole 4v1 difference is certainly more complicated than for a typical other game that might be 3v3 or 5v5 etc..

    I'm not 100% sure what the best way to do it would be, and neither are they, so they are trying, I respect that..

    I just know that it's mainly gotten downhill and these tests sort of prove that. I hope they come up with a better solution.

    While I am sure there would be OTHER problems that rise from this as well, I do think that somehow creating a system where MMR is calculated more on how many times each survivors was "hooked" by the Killer, it would still be better than using Kills/Escapes.

    While I agree that Hooks are not the end all, and can inflate stats as well by tunneling or camping, I still think "Hooks" are a more accurate representation than Kills...

    I also believe that Killers should have a deteriorating MMR or a MUCH lower set base MMR on newer Killers / Killers that they don't play as much or often. Playing Survivor is always going to be exactly the same, so it doesn't really matter which Survivor you play, but playing Killer is vastly different...

    Examples:

    Killers MMR per each Killer should start very low, and maybe for every 2 weeks you don't play a certain killer it gradually decreases over time.

    Also, in that regard, Killers MMR should fluctuate more rapidly than Survivors, if a Killer gets a 4K (because its MMR vs 4 ppl) and lets say 12 hooks, they should actually jump up HUGE amounts of MMR, similarly if they get 0K they should drop HUGE amounts, so that their next game ends up being significantly easier.

    Killer Addons being used should AlSO effect MMR, so like if the Killer is using no addons or brown addons they should be at their flat base MMR, but yellow/green addons should increase MMR x amount, and purple/pink addons should increase MMR even more x amount.. so that way depending on what level addons they are bringing they will be more in line with the team that they are facing...

    Similarly, Survivors ITEMS should ALSO inflate their own personal MMR as well, for example if they are bringing 0 items to the match, = flat base MMR, but if they bring higher tier items then their MMR also increases just like killers.. etc

    *IF THAT MEANS HAVING TO LOCK IN ITEMS/ADDONS BEFORE WE READY UP I AM OKAY WITH THAT*


    These are just some suggestions on how to make MMR more balanced for matchmaking in my opinion. But in a game like this where there are so many variables, the only way for it to be successful is with complicated solutions unfortunately, and probably a lot of hard work - which in the end would end up being worth it because it would make it a better experience for the players!
