New Base Killer Perk In PTB (Destroys Totems that are booned) (IT WORKS WITH PENTIMENTO)
Just cleanse a Pentimento totem and it can't be rekindled not a hard thing to deal with - If they break a boon just assume that's what they're going to do.
Acting like boons don't have an effect because the TOTEM they are on can be permanently snuffed, you still have 4 totems AND the killer had to give up a perk slot for something that should have become basekit instead
I don't see why this couldn't just be a basekit effect, tap the button to snuff the totem, hold the button to break the totem, then have this perk that also allows you to prebreak totems instead and see survivors in range when you snuff boons
Losing a perk slot just in case somebody brings a boon? What an embarrassing band-aid.
That perk isn't even particularly good at what it's supposed to do. How about adding an 16m aura reading for the boon when the killer gets close to it? How about getting a speed boost after snuffing one? How about being able to destroy dull totems for the effect as if they were Boons (so it's not a complete waste of a slot on the distant chance nobody in the survivor team brought a boon)?
I know, isn't that completely stupid. CoH isn't really being used anymore anyway, after the nerf. They should have left CoH as is, so there "might" be a reason to bring that perk. LOL.
Heck, maybe they'll buff the boon totems so people might actually bring them now. That would be the only reason to even introduce a perk like that for killer.
This is basically a perk on the level of lightborn. But at least with lightborn you can tell a lot of the time from the lobby if you’ll get value from it. With this you’re wasting a perk slot on the chance survivors set up boons.
An explanation on why this is not just base kit would be great.
Yeah in my opinion it should affect Dulls too. If anyone struggles against Pentimento because of the two perks combo'ing they were going to lose anyway.
Like imagine - The killer used two perk slots for Pentimento and Shattered Hope - Manages to roam around the map finding the Dull's without the aura because they're not broken yet and breaks them to rekindle them - While wasting time in the early game with no hooks while the survivors can still cleanse the hex totems. Let's say they get away with this - The survivors likely have 3-4 generators done by now and there's zero sense of urgency on the survivors when finally getting to the gates because no hooks. It's a losing strategy.
Not directing this at you per say but oh my god people are actually worried about pentimento. If people are losing to that perk they deserved the loss.
Letting killers destroy totems as a basekit feature doesn't have to override snuffing. I simply do not feel like adding a perk to address something people have been complaining about really fixes the issue.
Snuffing is just kind of weak unless you are already winning. The killer is a singular player so going out of their way to snuff a boon that can just replaced is often not worth it when you are already struggling against current gen speed. And things are even worse when you have maps like RPD or totem spawns like 2nd floor on Ironworks that involve a lot of travel to deal with while the boon area's ignores the level so survivors gain the benefits without needing to go out of their way.
Tbh, I would suggest making the perk the other way around. Make bones break on snuffing basekit and then make the perk not destroy the totem. It would still give people a choice but keep the most popular alternative basekit.

four hex totems, people would waste more time blessing it and you can´t cleanse someone elses hex totem for a few minutes. It´s activation is attached to the killer´s main objective.
I might use Shatter if it also prevents the booner from booning another totem for 60s or so.
Why not tie it to an input rather than having a niche perk tied to it? Press Space to snuff, or Hold Space to break? That kinda thing.
If they don't bring Boon Totems, this perk does nothing.
As an input it would feel a lot better, because I dont have to worry about making the "wrong decision" before the match even started.
Plus, if the Meta shifts away from the Boon Totems, this perk just dies off as it wouldn't be worth the risk of taking, as stated above, because if the survivors don't bring boons, then you have no perk. It already feels like it has a short shelf life.

Killers can't afford to waste an entire perk slot to simply break a boon. This needed to be fixed in the base kit of the game.

Nice perk for new players. Won't see any use at high ranks really.
