How Does Dead Hard work?

So you know how every game is different because lag is different for every game. So you do some skill checks and try to figure out how much the needle slips from when you hit the key until the needle stops, Usually there is probably half a second to a quarter second of slippage. This seemed to correspond to DH in the past. That if you had close to a half second of needle slippage you would also know there is at least a half second of lag from when you hit DH until it kicks in.
DH has always been one of the least dependable perks, sometimes it activates sometimes it doesn't and if it does activate it may give you a speed burst, may not, may give you a split second of immunity but not always. But the one thing you could almost always count on is if you DH, nothing happens and then you get hit and go down, then the DH timer would start.
Today I had a game with no skill check slippage. Like when I hit the key the needle would stop right away. So I figure no lag on DH as well. Not only did DH take at least a second to kick in, most times it never kicked in. Even when I was downed I did not get the typical "Use DH to be Dead on the Ground post hit timer." Again and again I hit DH and nothing happened, not even the timer.
Has DH been changed? And why is the lag not consistent between skill checks and how long it takes for DH to activate anymore?

"Press button for free Health State".
"Press button for free Health State".
The whole delayed skillcheck thing really sounds like my PS4 days.
I always thought it mattered on your FPS.
sorry, I do not recognize the quote. what are you saying? DH is no longer an exhaustion perk but now grants a free health state? That doesn't sound right.
Press E or whatever you have it bound to and you get a small speed boost with invincibility frames.

It's fueled by the salty tears of Killer mains.
press "E" while running and get distance and Iframes while dashing , not hard but insanely powefull if used correctly
Did you read my post at all? I was asking about how lag effects Deadhard, not what the instruction manual says.
please read OP, I was asking about lag on DH
I love it. 3 people that obviously either didn't care or didn't read the post and only the title. 🤣
Edit: Correction, 4, didn't see mb666's post.
From my amateur IT pov i would say that there is a distinct difference in lag handling/occurrence between Skillchecks and dead hard.
The first is just an interaction between the server and your client while the latter has also to incorporate the interaction of the killer and the server.
This should lead to a maybe noticable difference.
To be fair. We answered the question you posed in your title. Maybe change the title if you don't want people to answer the question.
I am not the op?
And unlike many people i take the time to read a whole thread or most of it before i comment on the topic to not look like a fool repeating something for Xth time.
They introduced hit validation for dead hard months ago, meaning:
"When Injured, tap into your adrenaline bank and dash forward quickly to avoid damage. Press the Active Ability button while running to dash forward" ----> That means you have to press two buttons. You all failed.
Btw the OP asked how DH does work, not how to use it...
That's what I thought too 😂 DBD forum's community in a nutshell...
Point remains. We answered the question. Wind your neck in.
Same thing, and the answers remain valid.
Reading is hard.
