How would people feel about this?
If you're in a match for 20 minutes, you can then DC without a penalty?
It means you can't be held hostage but people insta-dcing would still be punished?
I would be absolutely fine with this after all would someone with a man baby rage quit mindset really sit in a match for 20 minutes
this would benefit people being held hostage
Don't think it would fix anything tbh. Non-streamers are most likely not going to get multiple cheaters in a row so the 5 minute wait would be vastly less than the 20 minute wait. Streamers will just get lobby-injected after the 20 minutes so it doesn't fix that either.
Yes but this is an idea for those being targeted (streamers) I'm a streamer and I've have 5 hackers back to back absolutely wrecking my timeout, players who don't get held hostage will just eat the 5 minutes they always have but I won't be stuck not playing for half a day because I was chosen that day because I was live.
Did you even read what I wrote lol
Yea I did and it seems like you think something that could help shouldn't be added for a reason I can't determine? This will allow those targeted to at least avoid a penalty and there is literally no negative to adding it.
I have to deal with long queue times and a penalty on top it would be nice to avoid at least one of those, if the hackers motivation is racking up penalty timers and forcing 2hr long hostage situations this removes that entirely.
20 minute hide and seek squads. LETS GO BABYYYYY
They could literally just do this anyway but for much longer, I'm sure survivors will queue up to hide for 20 minutes and then just DC like? Lmao
I know i would
Well probably once, it sounds like it would get boring fast. Though annoying people is incredibly funny and there is the allure of driving some one off the walls mad.
So you're the cause of your own made up problem? Lol
Unless im playing on 2 accounts at the same time, probably not!
That's...not the worst idea I ever heard, tbh. The main question here would be "Is there a way to abuse this?"
If the game looks like its gonna be a loss, swfs now switch to hide and seek mode and dc after 20 minutes.
I mean its plenty abusable and worse if it becomes kinda meta games would be incredibly boring. Question is would people waste, lets say 15+ minutes just to not lose (yes, yes they would)
And then they get 0 points and no penalty + wasting loads of time for no reason, survivors could already play hide and seek until the killer gets bored and DC's
Some hag games could easily last this long if the hag gets a good 3 gen and this would let people bail instead of sticking it out.
Buddy some people dc when they are being carried to their death hook just to not get sacrificed. To loads of people being able to say i didnt lose is pretty important and if you give them a way to ''escape'' losing they will take it.
And nobody just hides and waits for the killer to dc because killer has infinite time, that doesnt sound very in survivors favour. But if you instead say, you just gotta survive for x minutes it sounds way more appealing.
I guarantee you at least 10 times more people would do this instead of hiding and hoping killer dcs, because this is a guaranteed method with a fix time. Hell, its a secondary safety net.
I think some of that could be fixed by modifying the AFK crow system to hit people who take way too much time away from gens. You rat them out, they can't hide anymore to stall.
I feel like this would be a good temporary solution at least. It helps the smaller to mid size streamers who get targeted by cheaters and will avoid being held hostage/getting the ban timeout.
I honestly don't think that hide and seek survivors would be too much of a problem. Once you hit a certain level of MMR, survivors don't really do this as much because they understand that only one person gets hatch, so someone will concede and hope the other survivor can get it. At least for me, I'd rather go next than get an escape after hiding.
The only problem I see is that it can deny the killer hooks/deaths that they would have gotten, but got denied because someone DC after the no penalty point. What I think they could do to solve this new issue would be counting the DC as a death on hook and also count the remaining hooks (or even just 1 hook) as them being hooked. That's honestly a QoL change that they should implement because it is very annoying when you have a tome challenge that doesn't get completed or an adept that gets denied.
I still think that a DC after 20 minutes should take away your pips and you don't get BP for the match, but not getting the timeout is a good idea overall.
Sounds good to me
There could also be an option to dc without penalty like 20 seconds after the timer is up when everyone should've been brought to the end screen by then. That on top of this idea would make hostage situations much easier to manage.
My thoughts go to the killer on this, because say a match has drawn out but if close to ending. However, 21 minutes has passed. The killer knocks down a survivor before they escape, but because it's over 20 minutes the survivor just dc's. The killer lost that kill, which may have resulted in a tome mission being completed.
That's not that common, but perhaps happens enough in 3 gen situations, or tight battles. Also, survivors who find our they've 3 gen'd themselves and realise they may not make it will just hide in a bush until 20 minutes are up then dc, so again it can be abused.
I'm quite pig-headed on this and dc's should stay regardless of how long a trial goes. My only alteration for dc's would be if a trial detects that a hacker is in it, then the penalty goes for that match. Mind you, maybe if they developed a system like that, that may impact on the amount of hackers about, if they can't get a decent game because of this. Otherwise, I would not agree with removing the penalty.
I thought you just meant like in the next 20 minutes, lol, I'm tired
Hunting with static blast and iron maiden LET'S GOOOOOOOOOO, lol
I wouldn't mind it, but I usually just keep them in there with me for hours and hours.
I understand it's different for you, since you stream. That's a livelihood to some and having someone essentially be able to wreck that is dumb.
It wouldn't make a bit of difference to me, since I don't stream too much and if someone wants to take me hostage, they can be damn sure I am petty enough to stay with them for however long it takes.
You dont have to be a streamer to encounter it and that just highlights how bad the cheater issue is getting.
I honestly dont know why BHVR struggles far more than any other company stopping cheaters/hackers.
I today have had multiple in a row, while most dont keep me hostage Cheaters in general suck a d we shouldn't think of workarounds
Hmm... I could get on board with completed games reducing the DC penalty time. 5 minutes for each game maybe.
So obviously the first DC penalty would be unavoidable, but then the 2nd which would be 10m could be mitigated by playing two games without DCing.
This wouldn't mean you completely avoid DCing because the third will still be 15m and require a further 3 uninterrupted games to avoid, and 30m requiring 6, etc.
Could even allow them to increase the duration so first is 5m, 2nd goes straight to 30m (requiring 6 uninterrupted games), 3rd goes to an hour (12), etc.
What if the match just ends after 30 minutes, no matter what? Nobody wins or loses -- you keep whatever points you earned, and it counts as a draw for your MMR. That way there's a time-limit on how long you can be held hostage, there's pressure to encourage people to do their objectives instead of drawing it out, and there isn't a mechanic that lets people strategically decide when to leave the match by picking the moment that hurts their opponent the most.
