Suggested change to make Suicide on hooks Slower

A nerf/change i would love for hooked survivor is that in the first phase the Attempts to escape instead of removing 20 seconds of the timer it would slightly increase the speed of the entity progression (like Monstrous shrine) that way teammates who are selfish and throw the towel early on have to hold on in the hook for longer. Same change for struggle skillchecks.

Any thoughts about this potential change? The only downside i can come up with this change is that Giving hatch to your teammates would be harder.

You can't force someone to play who doesn't want to. Of course you can say "why does the person start the game in the first place", but that's not the point here.

If you rescue a person who no longer wants to play, then that person will either remain motionless under the hook and go afk

or they'll run straight to the killer

or they will sandbag the other teammates for the rest of the match out of revenge.

And if you wanted to introduce a BP penalty for trying to unhook yourself (or committing suicide), then at least 2 perks would be completely useless as that's what they're for.

And the person still wouldn't want to continue playing and after they got unhooked they would either go afk, run to the killer, or sandbag the teammates, if they were forced to stay on the hook and get saved in order not to lose their BP.

You could obviously make an exception with deliverance since it gives you the unhook as opposed to the suicide. Duh.

Okay, then what about slippery meat? Would that also be exempt based on your arbitrary logic?

Or in some cases they'll sabotage the team or sandbag them

i mean there are lots of things people can nope out of. military, jobs, intimacy, relationships. its funny how there is a sense of oh well it shouldnt be your choice on certain subjects. like if i start anything its up to me to decide if i wanna finish. if i que up and my teammates cant do 3 gens after a 2 minute chase and only 1 is done and maybe a 2nd about to pop, you best bet im going to want to get out. Whether i do or not soley depends on the killer they are playing and the teammates. if i had higher mmr id stay in more matches tbh, id rather go against sweatier killers then to be stuck looping low mmr killers for so long, like yeah its fun but when the killers ignore me and just juggle 3 potatoes thats not very fun at all. and this mmr system is stupid so it dont matter how good i am it matters how good my randoms are XD

Rework slippery meat since it's trash anyway regardless of if they took on my idea.

Also, you don't know what arbitrary means apparently.

I mean with Up the Ante and Vigo’s Jar it’s not that bad.

You're really comparing a ten minute game of DBD to the military or a relationship?

    Good grief.

I think you're a dickhead if you load up for a ten minute game and quit for any other reason besides an actual real life emergency or you're going to ######### your pants.

There are so many single player games that our just as fun, where you can pause or quit at your heart's content without ruining the match for other people. I know in the grand scheme of life, it's no big deal. But in sense of playing a game and quitting when things don't go your way, it's such a toddler like behavior trait. It cracks me up, but at the same time it's just another daily reminder of how trashy some people are.

    You do you I guess.

i mean if thats what you take it as then thats your fault, a example does not necessarily mean comparison does it? I was saying everyone has choices and those choices can be changed, i used those because of the nature around them. people are called lazy for quitting jobs they dont like and people are called cowards for quitting military and people get mixed reactions to relationships even tho everyone should be allowed to quit. but i guess since people still have the toddler mindset of assuming they know everything to fit their damn narrative I should explain. As with anything IMPORTANT if it is something that is not important then you should quit as soon as you want to :) therefore you should quit a match and screw your teammates over if thats what you REALLY want. there you go buddy reworded for the dude whose brain cant look past an example

you underestimate the amount of times people almost ######### their pants

  • malloymkmalloymk Member Posts: 1,436

You used the examples as a comparison and it was a terrible one at that.

It is what it is. Keep quitting when the chips are down. It's all about you after all.

  • MommyHunktressMommyHunktress Member Posts: 634

no I listed a few things people are allowed to quit during as examples and even then if this is less important then why is it even argued XD youre just being childish man.

Personally I’ve never been a huge fan of the 4% escape thing in general. I’d almost rather have it be something like

    • If it is your first hook then barring any perks or effects you can’t get off right away by yourself, but when the first stage timer runs out you automatically pull yourself off at that point.
    • Certain perks like Deliverance allow you to pull yourself off the first hook earlier than that normally 60 second time.
    • Luck effects give you the chance to pull yourself off earlier than 60 seconds but if those attempts fail you still have to wait the full time to get off if nobody rescues you.

This would get rid of both the oddball swinginess of 4% escapes, keep people who are trying to suicide on hook from doing so for at least 60 seconds (time enough to maybe cool their jets and play if they get rescued) and would still allow for perks that help you escape by yourself to be useful. It would also weaken camping since the killer would have to redown someone who pulls themselves off the hook at 60 seconds, and would help survivors out who are in solo queue but nobody is coming to rescue them.

Look, I know it's annoying as hell and it gets a groan out of me too but stop with the suggestions of ways to force people to stay in the game longer. I say, if you want to suicide on hook, well good, ######### off then. BYE! It's not like the match is going to get any better if they are forced to hang around.

  • sulaimansulaiman Member Posts: 2,689

I like that. And survivors should only be able to pass the exit gate or use the hatch if they did at least one gen.

And killer can only hook if they got enough chasing-bp, so an early down doesnt lead to a hook, but the killer has to search someone else first.

I like the idea, and its good for several issues.

I have never seen a game like this where there are suggestions often thrown out on how to force people to play it.
