Trapper buffs

Trapper needs several things they did not mention in the Q&A:

  1. Fix his trap placement preview, so that it is 100% correct.
  2. Fix his reduced trap size. Devs already confirmed that this was unintentional. But beside the ever popular "we look into it" nothing ever happend. Trapper should be able to completely block chokepoints and there shouldn't be so many spots that the survivor can squeeze past the trap, but the killer get trapped in his own trap.
  3. This is a general one, but anyway, bring back the killers old Fov. I know, this thing is so old that a lot of player don't even remember that this was nerfed ages ago (to solve the locker peek issue, this was meant to be until they get a better fix, which never happend).
  4. Add the Hindered status effect to the Trappers base kit. We are talking about frickin beartraps smashing your legs. Make the effect last until healed.
  5. Dead Hard should not be capable to avoid beartraps. The original description mentions protection from damage (= hits with the main weapon), but this should not include getting trapped.
  6. Increase the disarm time, so that the killer actually gets a time advantage and no one should be capable to follow the killer and disarm the traps at the same speed as he sets them. Or disarm traps mid chase.
  7. Give some extra effect if the victim that steps into the trap was already injured (longer hindered, longer escapetime, ,etc)
  8. The "darkening" effect for traps should not just make them literally darker, but more transparent, so that the effect is beneficial on any surface.

They just need to get rid of his color addons and replaced them. They are not viable in Rank 1 games, due to survivors not walking in grasses and u are meant to place them below windows and pellets. which colors does nothing to that

What do you mean "color add ons"?
    The "darkening" ones?

Dead hard shouldnt be able to ignore traps especially because traps dont harm injured survivors anyway, just stops them for a bit.

Good point, they had been injured before and would be injured after the trap… so nothing had changed.

    1. Yes
    2. Yes
    3. Doesn't matter
    4. No. Stop trying to introduce realism into this. Runiver (I think) made a post about how nonsensical that would be.
    5. No. Removing ways to play and counter play is not beneficial to the game.
    6. Yes.
    7. Doesn't matter
    8. Not sure how they can adjust the darkeners correctly :/

Feel free to elaborate WHY you think things "Doesn't matter", because I don't why you say this.

And about your "Nos", why would a pretty obvious effect be a problem? It would be a simple buff and Trapper is in need of a buff. I don't see how going with a more "realistic" buff would be any difficult.
Same is true for DH, why should there be any more counterplay? Especially that strong form of counterplay. The survivor can sprint past it and the Trapper is blocked by his own trap. I this this is just to much.

    1. Yes its quite annoying
    2. Most ridiculous thing is if the survivors sneaks around the trap somehow and when you are trying the same, then you run into your own trap, in fact I get so mad when this happens that I will make that survivor suffer after this even if it wasnt there fault
    3. Has nothing to do with trapper, but yeah I agree
    4. probably
    5. definitely, same reason as in 2
    6. We will have to see what the new addons offer
    7. Dont think that this is necessary
    8. In my opinion traps should be darker by default, the current default color is ridiculous tbh

All Darkening addons on high ranks are useless, the only viable place is behind windows/ in jump spots/ in pellets. If there was an addon that makes Traps literally invisible, then it's a good addon. But changing colors to make traps darker are complete trash and not worth taking an addon slot

no survivors will dare walk on grasses when vs trapper unless they are forced to

I disagree, using darkening addons is the only way how to make traps viable in my opinion, sometimse you have to walk over gras

I'm a Trapper main that played since launch with over 2.7k hours. and what Rank do you play on? Survivors on Rank 1 would not walk in grasses this is a fact when they know they are up against a trapper. You don't even need Darkening if you gonna place them on grass anyway since it's all covered

The chance of someone running into a trap is ridiculously low. and is it even worth sacrificing an add-on slot when you can take the trapper bag which allows you to carry 2 more traps / Diamond stone for one hit kill on trap/ Setting addon that allows you to plant traps faster

the darkening is useless because there isn't that much difference between the default and the addons ones. the addon ones are only dark brown and that's it

Currently I am low rank because I started deranking regularly for two months now, not gonna play competitively anymore till devs fix their game. For some reason I face red rank survivors even at rank 18, devs did a pretty good job etc.

Yeah I agree, the diamond stones are really strong but you cant use them every game as they are ultra rare. Trap setting addon is mandatory if you want to set traps at all

The only viable combinations in my opinion are instadown+setting time and darkening+setting time.

I plan to derank too but fighting noobs that runs non-stop is no fun for me. and they will always report you for cheating since they thought people with full perks does not exist on Rank 20s. The darkening addon would be useful if the moment you place it adds a bunch of grass close to the trap covering it, then it would be a good add-on in my opinion, or as I said simply make the trap invisible beneath under the ground and snap when someone was on the surface

I have more fun playing with "meme builds" against noobs than being bullied by tryhards. I accepted that in the current state of the game there is nothing I can do as killer against them (I dont play nurse, the selfstun makes me anxious)
You are reported for cheating at any rank, not that it would do anything

I highly recommend you try deranking too, using devour for example is so much fun and the low rank survivors enjoy it actually (they are not entitled to wins yet). If you face a tryhard SWF trying to bully low ranks, please show no mercy though

    Logwood Dye should be built-in
    Regular trap is near fluorescent

  • Wolf74Wolf74 Member Posts: 2,959

It can't be all to difficult to make the Dye transparent, does it?
I am no programmer, but I think this should be easy, right?

I agree with everything except the dead hard thing with dead hard it's fair counterplay first they can only activate it whilst injured secondly they get one activation until the exhaustion comes back especially with the nerf exhaustion is getting I think dead harding over traps is fair

Please think about it. The injured victim can pass a chokepoint and the trapper would get stuck in his own trap. That's basically a free escape and there is hardly a chance for the killer to catch up to profit from exhaustion.
In my opinion that's a pretty powerful "counterplay".
