Chase mechanic broken?

PiiFreePiiFree Member Posts: 1,152

It feels like the chase mechanic is broken. I can run right behind a Survivor and the chase would not trigger even though they're running right in front of me, maybe 8-10 meters apart.

I used to play Billy/Spirit and never really noticed this as I would use the power to get close to Survivors but I notice this a lot as Bubba recently. Someone looped me in the shack and during the loop they somehow managed to break the chase because the game didn't recognize that I was still in a chase with that Survivor. #########?

Can we please get some details regarding the chase mechanic? What exactly is required to get into/out of a chase?

I always had the impression that you need LoS of the Survivor, the Survivor has to run and be somewhat close to you. How close do you have to be?

    I guess the chasing is adressed in a farm harvester?

    If a person loose their "Shift" button for seconds. Then the chasing will be broken, even you didnt miss the sight of the human however.

    I think its a BUG, maybe you already noticed it that some window has already be sealed, but at next loop the human still vault over it.

    I think it occurs with the same situation

    From what I understand is that for a chase to begin, the survivor needs to run in the killers line of sight (that means hold SHIFT+w,a,s or d) in close enough proximity. If there is something like corn in the way then the chase might not begins since "you can't see the survivor".

    I can't tell you what your problem was in the scenario you specifically mentioned so I can't help you further.

    @PolarBear

    I try to be more specific:

    I mindgame the shack window by standing in front of it so that the Survivor can peak around the corner and see the red strain, thinking that I'm about to vault the window. That results in me standing in front of the window for 2-3 seconds (and therefore not being able to see the survivor) while the survivor is waiting around the corner without being in my line of sight, which makes me lose the chase.

    It's a matter of a few seconds, caused by mindgaming instead of mindlessly chasing the survivor which results in me losing all the bloodlust progression. It's really annoying and it feels different. I've been doing mindgames like those since years and I never lost bloodlust because of it but now it happens quite regularly.

    @PiiFree I haven't noticed myself but then again I don't play killer as much as I used to. They might have done something with the chase mechanics when people were cheesing the mend timer on legion/from bt? Dunno...
