An Actual Wraith Buff

I just thought of an actual Wraith buff. How about....we remove the visible shimmer while the Wraith is moving invisible. Then, he fits his intended playstyle of stealth, but it's actually stealth. Removing the shimmer would give the Wraith the ability to uncloak close enough to his prey, get better use out of Windstorm, and land more Surprise Attacks. Survivors are up and running when they see the shimmer, meaning the Wraith has to either uncloak, as he has been spotted, or stay cloaked to catch up, and then potentially lose all the distance he closed by the uncloaking speed penalty. If we remove the shimmer, Survivors also have less reaction time to Lightburn Mr. Bing Bong before he uncloaks, so only those with fast enough fingers will be an actual threat. Please, devs, for the love of God look into this, and consider implementing it, as it will make the Wraith better than you think.

The biggest issue with this is survivors complaining about the complete invisibility like they do with Freddy. I'm actually fond of his shimmer. If a survivor is observant enough to see his shimmer, they should be able to run. But I do think wraith should be able to pop out of invisibility and attack. The jump scare of having a wraith appear mace swinging from a direction you weren't expecting would be great. Doing this should have a cool down before you can go invisible again like nurse teleport.

Yea, and props to those with good eyes, but the problem is, it's way too easy to spot the shimmer of the Wraith. You can see him coming from two houses down on Lampkin Lane. The thing is, you don't need good eyes to spot the Wraith, especially on brighter maps. You should only be able to detect the Wraith when he's close or uncloaking. So maybe like, the Wraith has shimmer, but it doesn't show until he's within 20 meters (A Nurse's Calling I range) of a Survivor? Either 20 or 16. Sixteen for that Myers effect, like his Tier II Terror Radius, you won't have a chance of detecting him for yourself until he's within 16 meters and he's in Tier II. I hope this helps. The cooldown should be implemented, and there should be add-ons that reduce the cooldown of it.

I almost completely agree. I've been playing a lot of survivor lately and if anything the shimmer just makes him harder to spot, but once you have spotted him you can keep pretty close tabs on his movement as long as you don't lose him. Now for the almost completely part, I feel like the shimmer should be considerably reduced, but not removed. Removing it completely would take away from the lore, and give survivors another thing to complain about. I also personally feel it would be a little much, and not fun to play against since it makes stealth for survivors even less viable than it already is as there would be no way to track him without using up precious perk slots. Overall though, I like the idea.

It should also be up to the killer to be stealthy, not just leave it all to his power. Most survivors will look toward the center of the map to watch for a killer but wraith can ghost up the edge of the map and get behind someone without them knowing. His shimmer isn't the issue, it's the overtness of the killer. If they spot him it's luck out they went right down the middle of where the survivor was expecting

I agree that the wraith is in need of a buff. The biggest issue is that he has nothing to help him in the chase. His stealth is great, but the shimmer is a bit easy to spot for experience survivors. Every now and then I'm caught off by him but his power comes up weak when compared with some of the other killers. I well admit that he is much better since his recent buff but not by much. He was borderline unplayable a year ago, any survivor with a few hours in the game could loop him around the map for two generators easily. I agree with reducing the simmer and maybe possibly giving him a reduced windstorm effect normally.

The Wraith's main problem is that if he is an open area (think about most of Blood Lodge) survivors can observe all his movements from afar. He should cause uncertainty and axiety to survivors working on gens and sneaking around, thinking he could appear behind them any moment, but if he can be spotted from far away it isn't possible. On the other hand completely removing the shimmer would mostly affect stealthy players, and they don't really deserve it.
That's why I think the shimmer should be visibile, but up to a certain distance (like 12-20 meters). This way you solve the problem without penalyzing too much stealthy survivors, and leave the need to hide the shimmer when closing on a survivor, which good Wraiths already do.

I agree, to most people here making his shimmer distance dependend (maybe 32 m) would buff him and make his playstyle more interesting. It would also give the Devs an opportunity to rework some of his AddOns to make them more usable. Current meta is Swift-Hunt+Windstorm because others are just unreliable. Since his disapperance time is already quite buffed and short, maybe Blink-AddOns could reduce that distance a little bit as well, so we might see a few sneaky wraith builds.

I hate how all stealthy killers still have a giveaway sounds. Pig, while crouching, has a loud breathing sound, the same goes for Myers. Wraith has a shimmer and he is stomping so loudly! I can hear him when he is ~8 m away from me. The Pig also has the loud ROAR sound cue when she tries to do an ambush.

The problem isn't the sound. If there was no sound, she'd get free hits. The problem is that the sound is too early. If the sound came at the end of the dash, she'd have no problem with stealth.

Oh right!. I meant it like that, just forgot to write it. If the roar would start at the start of the dash, it would be way better.

Also can we in build windstorm into the wraith hes nearly unplayable without it and their are so many terrible wraith add-ons. I often feel like a salvage crew trying to get the better add-ons and avoiding the blatantly terrible ones. Hint hInt the bell noise decreases.

I wouldn't mind if they just removed the speed penalty while cloaking and uncloaking. But i also really like the shimmer idea.

I like this idea better personally. Only being able to see his shimmer within a certain distance of him, and not across the map.

However like most buffs done to the Wraith, this would only be a quality of life thing and wouldn't actually change a whole lot. He needs a few more drastic changes like increased cloaked movement speed, a faster decloaking time, or a built in Windstorm - stuff like that.

Reduce or remove the movement speed penalty from uncloaking. It causes him to lose Survivors too much, especially the ones running Sprint Burst.

Personally I would rather keep the shimmer and reduce or eliminate the time it takes to uncloak
