With newer players coming...Exposed needs to be changed.

I think it's about time we renamed 'Exposed' into something that makes more sense, like...Vulnerable!
I've had to go through the process of actually explaining this to about five of my friends now who have come to join the game that Exposed does not mean their location is known or that their aura is shown to the Killer, but rather that they are capable of being one hit downed. Being Exposed just sounds too confusing to some players, as it was to me and my friends when we first started, and with a crowd of players who could be joining us, I really think Exposed should retire it's name and look into getting a newer, more accurate title.

I agree, when I was new I would see exposed a bunch of times and had no idea what it meant. Eventually I put it together that it was 1 hit down.
Yup. When I started playing, I believed exactly that, that my location got revealed. At the same time, it's something you pick up on quickly because if someone gets exposed, there's a chance that you or someone else is gonna get hit. That way, you simply learn from playing the game (which I think is a good thing).
Everyone makes the same mistake, and this very topic was brought up afew weeks ago. For some reason, alot of players think they should just look it up instead of the status effect being named to anything that makes sense.
I’d name ‘Exposed’ to ‘Endangered’ personally. ‘Vulnerable’ has the same issue as ‘Exposed’ in that it could literally mean anything regarding the game.
Endangered definitely means that you should GTFO, much more than Vulnerable would.
‘Exposed’ can become a status effect granted by an item or perk to alert you to the fact that your aura is being read. Maybe Distortion could have an additional effect after all tokens are gone, to state that your aura is revealed to the Killer? It should not appear on just any aura exposure though, as that can end up as a partial nerf to Scratched Mirror, other aura add-ons, and perks.
In short, ‘Endangered’ will get the point across the best way.
Vulnerable refers to the correct idea.
Exposed means visable
Vulnerable means open to attack.
Games usually use the term Vulnerable to describe where attacks will be more effective on the target.
Thanks, Burrito. 💜
The amount of people that were saying "just look it up" was insane.
This ABSOLUTELY needs to be changed, and Vulnerable sounds great.
Even with watching streamers and other players before I got the game, no one really explained or elaborated on what 'Exposed' meant. I thought, along with the one-hit, it would permanently show my aura to the killer. Oh, Rank 20 memories lol
They said they were looking for improving the new player experience, and this is definetly something that would do.
Thank you! 💜
They were some gooood times.
Or even just "Danger".
When I first saw "Exposed", I looked down to check my pants and then got stabbed in the neck.
Heh. If they worried about the new player experience they'd do something to motivate people to climb the ranks instead of deranking and smurfing around in the lower ranks.
It has been an issue for the longest of times so I doubt a change won't come anytime soon.. or anytime at all. No.. Behavior cares only about money. You're only worth a damn as a player if you're willing to open up your wallet and buy some cosmetics.
@se05239 - True, I'd love to see them remove depipping for a month, just to see what would happen. It might cause chaos, but it might actually help.
The status could be called "Covered in jelly" and the description would still be the same. New players will just read the descriptions (or get instadowned) and accept the weird names like we all did.
Am I the only one that will not treat new players differently and will just try to kill all survivors like I normaly do?
Do confusing status effects really NEED to be some kind of initiation into the game? These are likely to be players you arnt even going to face, unless you intend to depip to rank 20.
exposed also means in a dangerous situation
exposed
adjective
in a vulnerable position or situation."the army's exposed right flank was under attack"
synonyms:vulnerable, defenseless, undefended, unshielded, susceptible; rarepregnable
"the army's left flank was exposed"
so it does work for a 1 shot attack warning as u are in a vunerable situation where the killer can 1 shot u
Yeah, it took me literally 5 months to find out what exposed meant when I first started playing, I originally thought it meant I was seen, found out I was wrong
No, Vulnerable instantly makes most people think you can be 1-hit.
Exposed instantly makes people think you are seen by the killer.
Endangered makes no sense and sounds dumb.
When I first realized what Exposed really did I said, "They should have just called it Vulnerable!"
And I think 99% of the rest of the players thought the same. You're part of the 1% so be proud.
I remember when I first started and I bought Pig and thought Make Your Choice meant id get to see the rescuer.... each time it didn’t work I’d think “oh, I must not be far enough away from the hook”, so I’d literally walk to the other side of the map, face the hook and wait to ‘see’ the rescuer, but every time it ‘didn’t work’. I thought “what a stupid broken perk” 😂
It took me a long time to understand what it actually meant, and a long time to appreciate exposed perks
I agree with changing it to something easier to understand. Vulnerable does work well, so would Weakened and At Risk
or change it to: "danger, danger, high voltage!"
Thanks, Mochan. 💜
We’ll just rename the Doc’s Madness tiers into that one. 😄
Yep...I had the same issue when I started...
I also assumed every single totem was doing something or they wouldn't be there.
I remember when I was new and I thought the same thing and thought they were hacking because I was insta downed
na its one of those things you gotta learn like crouch walking around hag traps, if you give all the answers in the beginning then there is no learning curve, thats part of what makes the game so much fun is figuring stuff out for yourself and honing your skill over time
We all had those moments, man. 😂
@Peanits @not_Queen Would the team be interested in making changes like this to newer players?
In the wise words of not_Queen, one of them will say "I will ask the team soonTM"
I have noted it and will share it with the team, but I doubt it would be something that could change in time for the next update. Changing text is harder than it seems. We can change the English (and even French) text very easily, but every other language would need to be sent off for localization.
