My Dead by Daylight Rant.

This is just me getting things off my chest in this game and giving my opinion on what I've been seeing in this game for the past couple of years I've been playing, obviously it isn't factually 100% correct.

Again this is just my opinion and I'm not witch hunting anyone, just pointing out things in this game.

Hey I’m not a fan of using someone else vids to try to make a point. What I wanna read is your experience playing match’s. Why you feel the way you do and how you come to your conclusion. Based on your time playing. =p hope you take me up on it and I’ll be glad to read it in full.

I agree with @Cardgrey we want to hear (or in this case read) your personal thoughts on the subject, not voiced through someone else's video.

Doing that is kinda lazy tbh...

My experience playing matches in this game and I play at mainly red ranks is that how a lot of people describe this game isn't strictly true, I used his videos as an example because he is the most popular Dead by Daylight player and a lot of people listen to him. My point was to point out that he does make a lot of mistakes across his killer games and that people should actually try to form their own opinions about the game and work together so that we can come up with proper balance for this game.

I see a lot of people throwing out random ideas but they never get taken anywhere because they are quickly dismissed, like a secondary objective for survivors so gens don't get completed too quickly, while I see this idea being tossed out a lot nobody ever really comes up with an idea as to what this objective could be. I think that's because a lot of people in the Dead by Daylight forums tend to complain and scream rather than band together and work out good changes for this game, I have spotted a few threads that have this goal in mind but they seem to be a rare thing.

I'm not trying to gloat or anything when I describe my experience with Dead by Daylight at mainly red ranks but I do tend to win most of my games, granted I do lose games as well due to my own mistakes with viable/meta builds. I do play a lot of Ghost Face and Huntress, used to be mainly Nurse but I started to get really bored of her. I rarely run into these killer games where I get gen rushed 4-5 minutes in and I instantly lose the game without an ounce of offense from me the killer. I think it's because Tru3 gets sniped a lot and his opinion tends to get more soured when he bumps into these snipers more and more.

I came to my conclusions and opinions because of well my experience in this game, like I said I mainly play at red ranks and I'm forming my opinions based off of me playing at those ranks. But I also pay attention to the survivor side and frequently play at red ranks there as well. And I try to be fair and consider the strengths of both sides and try to come up with ways to balance both sides while remaining fair, but the way I see it certain things that certain killers have access to can heavily shift the game, but survivors ALSO have access to these things. However I think a lot of people have the opinion of survivors will always gen rush you at red ranks due to people like Tru3 streaming live for hours on end constantly bumping into teams, it will happen eventually but I don't think it is as common (from my experience) as people will have you believe.

I also think certain aspects need buffs of course, like some of the killers genuinely not being viable at certain ranks without the use of addons, something I covered in my rant. Addons in my opinion as well as items should be small benefits to you/your team if you're a survivor and not completely turning the tide of certain games, it should be skill based and not because you have a certain item.

What are.you happy with, and what irks you?

I read good, insightful ideas every day on this forum, along with some garbage ideas too.

    Post yours!

@Cyro your point about tru3 is correct, but it doesn't mean killers are op in some situations. You are using examples of him making mistakes. That shows that both sides never play 100% optimally. Therefore even though what you say is true about that video of tru3's, you can't use it in an argument for killer's are overpowered in some situations. This is also dependent on like you say how the survivors play. There are way to many variables. I am also not saying your opinion is wrong at all, if you personally have experienced games where the killer has no counter play at all, you have the right to your opinion. You also have to remember the positives that come out of the matches as well. Sometimes you will be paired against a group when killer that make the match intense and interesting cause both sides give the same amount of mistakes which can make it interesting to watch. Compared to the killer never making mistakes and the survivors making mistakes. You know who is going to win and vice versa. Those games where you barley outplay your opponent as well are highlights.

I hope this makes some sense for what I am trying to say. Hope you have a good day/night

I'm happy with how the game became more balanced for both sides (even if it took them years to do so) so that both sides stand a chance to win, but I think the more and more issues in this game aren't addressed the more difficult it becomes to eventually balance it fairly for both sides. I'm also happy about the fact that they are trying to address the issues, I just hope they are addressing the proper issues first. Obviously you know what irks me in my rant but I'll touch up on things I didn't mention in the rant here.

Maps in my opinion need a good looking at as well, certain maps can destroy certain killers but some maps can completely go in a killers favour, and some maps can be littered with safe pallets and some can be littered with unsafe pallets. I think that there should be more consistency with maps so that it can be more balanced for both sides.

I'm still thinking of ideas on how to make this game more fair/fun for both sides while also trying to be realistic about it rather than just throwing out a bad idea that won't go anywhere, but like I said it is becoming a more difficult thing to do as the game progresses and more perks/maps/addons/offerings/killers/survivors get added, a lot of variables to consider.

That is correct, both sides never play 100% optimally, but I was more touching up on the fact that Tru3 tends to be outspoken about his opinions and due to his influence as a big player in Dead by Daylight he has a lot of power to give proper thought out opinions and create discussions on how the game should be. But he tends to be emotionally driven at the same time which creates situations where he is being 100% biased towards killers without even thinking about survivors which is generally the problem I have with him. I do think in that scenario of him playing the Plague does put her power on display considering he made a lot of mistakes but the survivors in that scenario paid more for their mistakes compared to Tru3 while being at red ranks.

But I do see where you're coming from when I stated that certain killers can be overpowered in some situations. I do agree with you though that I do get thrills out of certain games and the matches can be really intense and close and hard fought, for me most of the time as survivor I'd be happy if at least one person escapes, sometimes I don't mind straight up losing as a survivor if the match was hard fought on both sides but this is becoming more and more rare as the game balance shifts drastically and issues not being addressed.

Yeah you bring up points I think a lot of long time players share.

This game is fairly balanced...Until you get to elite levels. The best swf group will ALWAYS win against the best killer (despite the map). And that is not balanced.

There are areas where this game shows its inadequacies but overall the good outweighs the bad.

Have you ever played a game where you felt more like Michael Myers or Freddy?

That doesn't make it perfect though. Just because something is done better than anything prior, doesn't mean it is great (or even good).

I will say that compared to beta, this game is MOUNDS better and keeps improving. It just takes good, insightful feedback to keep helping it improve. And because it does, pkayers(like me) keep returning.

Nothing can truly be balanced, especially in this game.

We make the best of what we have and try to give opinions and suggestions on what to change and improve on. Most of the they're ignored due to others picking up on the suggestion, and instead of giving more constructive insight, they spread toxic demands.

That's the main issue to why we have bad balancing, its because the vocal majority is the lower ranking Survivors/Killers that pick up on conversations and riot in a mass demand for changes. When these changes are not met, or they're but not done "correctly" the majority ensues more chaos in the form of forum posts.

For example, MoM was getting nerfed, but before it even did get nerfed it was argued and complained about for weeks until it finally got changed. The same with DS but to a larger degree, the perk was overall OP, and gave the Survivors who used it a second chance whether they deserved it or not with no counter-play to it.

The point is, balance is just a meme at this point. We will never truly have Dead by Daylight be balanced for both sides, and that's something I would hope most of us would accept at some point.

Experiments have been done and to be fair tru3 foesnt just talk out of his rear, he has factually quantifiable evidence to support all he says, and it's not just him..there have been tests done by high profile players proving theres a deep seated problem that needs resolving

  • ZanferZanfer Member Posts: 647

yeah I would just say that if you are looking for a balanced competitive game, this game isn't really for that. It can be competitive, but there are so many variables to consider. Now I am not saying that you can't play this competitively at all, but a lot of stuff depends on how a player can play. If you play against survivors who know maps inside out optimally make decisions depending on which killer you are playing and the map, goodluck. Same for the other side. I would talk about tru3 more, but I don't think it will help the discussion and just take it off on a tangent. Most perks that people don't like to run usually are because they are situational perks. You don't get much use out of them unless in those situations. While for instance people like to run borrowed time cause you are most likely to get your borrowed time to go off in matches vs. unbreakable during a match. That is why killers in specific situations can be overpowered cause it depends on what decisions were made during the game to get to that point in time.

The devs have been focusing on making the game easier for Killer. I mean, that’s fine and all. I stopped playing the game for a long time, but I am back to playing again.

I will say, a lot of people put stock into influencers that aren’t even that good at the game. I am not saying they’re bad, but they’re not as skilled as they think.

After 50 games at R1 played this season and tracked, I escaped 22 (44%). In 21 games, the Killer got a 4K (42%). That’s an extremely high percentage for people who say the game is so unbalanced for a Killer.

To be completely frank, a lot of people think they’re better than they are.

    *chuckles in Billy*

    *cackles in Hag*

    *laughs in Spirit*

    *literally ROFL in Nurse*

I agreed with your comment when you said the game was relatively balanced but then you went and said something crazy that I just had to call out, and you used the word "always"
