Due to latency issues in the PTB, we have decided to postpone the server hit validation test until after the update releases on the live version of the game. We will let you know when the test will take place as soon as we can. Thank you all for your patience.

Flashlight Rework

As you may know that flashlights is one of the most strongest items in DbD. It can save your teammates multiple times and can be game changing, especially if multiple survivors use a flashlight and they're great with the timings. It doesn't feel so good to lose a survivor instantly when you worked so hard to catch that survivor. How can we make flashlights more fun for both survivors and killers alike?

Rework:

-Instead of dropping the carried survivor when the killer gets blinded after the pick up animation, the survivor that's being carried will receive a 37.5% increase to wiggling speed for any moment that the killer is blinded.

To compensate for the save removal:

-Uncommon Flashlight: 12 second battery
-Rare Flashlight: 16 second battery + Longer blind duration
-Very Rare Flashlight: 20 second battery + Even longer blind duration

Results, Math, Reasoning:

So if the killer was blinded after finishing the pick up animation, assuming his screen is white through out the entire duration of the wiggling progress. It'll take 10 seconds instead of 16 seconds for a survivor to wiggle free from the killer's grasp which is really fast! Remember that you'll have to keep blinding the killer to give the carried survivor the increased wiggling speed! Which sometimes can be hard or easy depending on your situation, survivors will be wasting more of their flashlight to help the carried survivor escape. That's why I added more flashlight battery time and longer blind duration so you don't have to constantly keep re-blinding the killer and waste more of your flashlight.

16*37.5%=6, 16-6=10 therefore it'll take 10 seconds to wiggle free if the killer remained blinded through out the entire wiggle progress.

So, if the killer gets blinded... I don't think he should let go of his prey! It's like your holding on to a ledge then someone throws water on your hands to make it harder. Just because it's harder to hold on doesn't mean you should instantly give up attempting to hold on. I want this to be true with flashlight saves because I don't understand how flashlights magically makes the killer drop the survivor, it should instead make it harder for the killer to reach a hook!

Now with a grain of salt, please leave constructive feedback not hate mail. I'm just throwing ideas out there to help make DbD a more fun experience for both killers and survivors alike! :)

If you were to take off the ability to make a killer drop the survivor with a flashlight save, I think having the killer be stunned and unable to move (except for the direction they're looking of course) would be better then increasing the wiggle speed.

This can be a rework as well, like if the killer was on a pallet but you couldn't reach the pallet in time... you could blind him in place to help you get the pallet drop save. It could work well with the NEW DS because the killer is forced a blind since he can't move which gives the survivor more time to wiggle. Nice ideas @ShrimpTwiggs :)

maybe it should just slow down the killer?
so stuff like Agitation would get an indirect buff and maybe replace one of the meta perks.
or maybe rework lightborn to fit this.

Thanks :) It's really nice to see when people throw out ideas rather then just say 'nerf this' and 'buff that.' And it's good to see positivity on these forums every now and then.

That's not a bad either, if the killer is slower then he can't reach the hook as fast which can indirectly buff transportation perks. Basically what I'm aiming at with the flashlight rework is to add more fun to using it and not be so unfun being the victim while keeping it's power.

    @ShrimpTwiggs Your Welcome! ;)
I don't care how much something gets buffed or nerfed... I just want it to be fun for both sides. If camping was fun for both sides then you would hardly see any complaints and same goes for tunneling! Personally I dislike camping both as a survivor and killer because your doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING but it's sadly needed... *Coff Coff* Gen rush.
