Is buying The Legion worth it ?

Hi ! Long story short, I want to buy the Darkness Among Us DLC. Jeff is cool -love him - but the Legion's power is ... questionable. I like them as well, for the style. But I got lost with the buffing and nerfing. In the present, is he good ? Are them too nerfed (Freddy 1.0 nerfed), too toxic, fun to play with? Are them worth the 4$ ?

Thanks in advance ^-^

I play legion for bloodpoints, almost every game i get 32k (max), run BBQ&Chili and bring a survivor pudding (100% more bloodpoints). I seem to get 92k bloodpoints every game with that and no more, so i guess i get the max. He's fun imo, as sprinting and vaulting with frenzy is cool, but he's not the best in terms of ranking up and red ranks. Survivors just mend immediately when you hit then and go after someone else but idc. I usually hit everyone, then target the last one i hit and hook then. Rinse repeat and i get 4k with max bloodpoints. The key is to make sure every survivor gets 3 hooked, dont tunnel or camp them.

Jeff isnt that great in my opinion, but if you like him go ahead!

I'm currently working on Jeff and have found that his Dissonance perk is surprisingly good if you're like me and just like to avoid the killer completely. Break Down is funny, but I don't find much use for it. As for Aftercare... just bring Bond ffs.

As for Legion - pretty weak killer right now. But his Dissonance perk is pretty damn good as it tells you where half the survivor team is when it fires. Mad Grit is pretty meh. Iron Maiden can be interesting on certain killer builds - but I wouldn't go out of my way to get it.

IMO, Dissonance is what makes Legion worth getting as it's a damn good perk over all. It's also one of the few perks that synergizes well with the killer it released with.

Well, I'm starting to make an idea about Legion. But besides slowing a survivor down (with the mending)(if you're lucky, stop everyone from doing gens for a while) and fast vaulting, does stopping the power near an injured survivor works ( for a close hit and down) ? 'cuz I can't really see any other tactic for injured survivors (the power is basically extreme mobility and fast spread of injury on nearby survivors, but only effective against not injured survivors)

(Trying to make an idea if I'll have a bad time with Frank)

If you want to play a strong killer, No.

If you want to have fun, No (i mean, for me it's not fun being harmless)

If you want a killer to pip with, Yes.

If you want a killer for farming, Meh, there's Doctor.

  • armandfm11armandfm11 Member Posts: 35

I like Jeff's personality. I don't look at his personal perks (I'll use others' teachables), I look at his style of being :)

Well ... good call with Jeff's perks. I thought Dissonance wasn't going to be that good, and Break Down quite useful (ok, for tunnelers, campers or unlucky/stupid saves). (for Aftercare, it's HUGE awareness at the cost of hook stages - not something you want to sacrifice). Thanks :3

For Legion, if I see Jane in the lobby, Iron Maiden it is :P

Harmless ? Except the ups of dealing with healthy survivors ( specially groups), he's like the Trapper, or Wraith, or, idk... A basic killer vs. injured survivors.

(Just now it crossed my mind) Wait ... does he have a lower base movement speed ? I may have completely missed that point..

  • YaiPaYaiPa Member Posts: 1,593

Yeah, that's what the teory looks like. Yet, dead hard, adrenaline, borrowed time, and such perks counter the penalty from being injured. Nowadays survivors don't heal against anyone but Spirit, and your power is useless against injured survivors, which is why Plaugue is also boring.

  • armandfm11armandfm11 Member Posts: 35

I've already got Myers (my first DLC). I considered the Clown and Shape DLCs, but I'm not that attracted to the Clown and Adam (I almost got 9000 shards, so I have a backup plan). Apart from Jeff, Legion's personality/vibe is what attracts me. But a weak killer would be of no use...

I'm still giving this a thought. In the end, 5 $ on a solo character is worse than 4$ on 2 + exclusive item that no one cares about :))

Ok, so... at the end of the day, he sucks. The power might make one's life harder for 15 seconds, if lucky a whole group, but the second phase of the chase (injured to down) will be hell. Kinda disappointed, to be honest... Well, I think I'll just get the DLC for 1. Not wasting 5$ on a single character (shards will go to Kate or Spirit) 2. Jeff is love, 3. Exclusive cosmetic lol and 4. Hopes to have a buff for Legion *looks at Freddy* . But, as all you kind people said, he sucks, so for another human being looking to buy this DLC straight up for Legion, consider this.

Anyway, thank you all for the support <3 (now idk who to give the *did this answer the question?* think (lol))... Don't want to be unfair to everyone.

(p.s. : 4 seconds of power cooldown is enough for survivors to gain distance, if I stop the power next to them ? )

  • armandfm11armandfm11 Member Posts: 35
    1. Since I focus on having every owned character at the same level (can't decide whose teachables to get first) and getting characters with shards rather than going for the shrine (not a Bubba, Hag or Clown player), the idea's out for a while.
    2. I mainly enjoy, as said above, the thrill of the hunt. Not strictly the win. Just a good chase and a horror experience.

But I appreciate the build suggestion and I'll keep that in mind. (to myself : fear the dailies )

    @armandfm11

If you desire a thrill of the hunt, than I don't think Legions right for you. His design and literally his meta revolves around the suffering of the Survivors...

This means what I literally suggested above, just constantly damaging Survivors and making them Heal THAN downing people when most or all of the team is injured and healing to avoid the speed penalty's.

But you do you man, I wish you the best in the future.

I have to give you the point on that. I liked that Frenzy in terms of "thrill of chase"; that rush of energy looked cool. But, in-game, it doesn't feel a lot like the hype you should get from those speedy chases. And, once the survivor is injured the fun goes dead. So, bottom line, I'm not pleased with him (without any perks or add-ons).

Either way, the conclusion/ what I learnt today :They're maybe playable, if handled well and with good perks. But putting perks aside, they're not good. Learnt that both ways (stubborn me). So, I wish you all luck if you try Legion on level 1 with no perks (seriously, don't. Unless you are low rank and a bit experienced with killing, don't.)

    Also should be noted :

If the chase is in a tight place (trees / obstacles), closing in to a wounded survivor and ending your power might work. Did the job well for me (too bad that was the only bit of time I managed to not get rekt)

Sprinting around the map : meh... 4 seconds cooldown and slower than Billy boi, for compassion. Maybe only for short-mid distances (25, 30m, idk).

Triggering the power early (e.g. : rushing a survivor working on a gen) might not work always, and you might end up with the holy stun on you

*just some things I think they're worth mentioning from my first trial - but it's my FIRST - don't take everything 100% sure, 'cuz I'm absolutely no Legion pro*

Well, that settles that. I'm hoping for a buff for them, but I don't regret buying the DLC, not because of the Legion, but because Jeff alone is 5$. Bad killer or not, it is a win-win situation. But, if it wasn't for the sale, Legion would not be on my killers.

Once again, thank you all for the time to help a fellow survivor ^-^

and sorry for all the nonsense I talked. I'm not a killer main. Not fresh on the game, but not the killer 24/7 kind

EDIT : Marked the answers as a summary for the ones who don't enjoy a deep talk. Also FIreHazard's answer for perks and builds to try, if are not as stubborn as me to level up everyone equally.

long story short : Without perks, BAD killer.

  • They’re definitely worth it Legion is one of the easiest killers to play next to Michael and Ghostface and if you end up not liking her/him then he/she has some really good perks to bring over to your main. All in all internet and Your FPS will play a huge part in you killing survivors. But if and/or when you “get good” none of that will matter.

Legion right now are not worth a dime

And their rework is still far away

Wait until you have the shards if you really want to buy them

Hey, wanna hear a joke? Legion

If you buy him, expect bullying and looping till daylight. He is literally worse than bubba and he also has his own tier, namely the legion tier

If it was pre rework legion i would say yes

Legion was never worth the money. Only reason I got it was because of the survivor.

  • PeasantPeasant Member Posts: 4,105

Legion is a decent killer. Don't get me wrong, they are not very high tier, but they are also not necessarily the lowest tier either.

Legion's base kit is actually pretty good all things considered:

Feral Frenzy - Feral Frenzy is very useful for spreading a "Lotta Damage" very quickly. Additionally the "Mend" action takes 20 seconds to complete when survivors do it themselves so just 4 mends wastes roughly an entire generator's worth of time. With the faster movement speed it can also be used to traverse the map in a pinch (though I would advise against this in most cases.) Heck, Killer Instinct (the spiderweb effect) reveals survivors to you after striking one in Feral Frenzy. Overall, Legion's power helps weaken survivors, slow generator repairs, and provide decent map pressure as well as information. Sure it's no insta-down, but hey, it works. "It's not about the size of the boat, it's about the motion in the ocean!"

Discordance: Easily the Legion's best perk. Knowing where half of the survivors are is an outstanding piece of information that can trigger repeatedly. It'll work well on just about every killer too so it's a sound investment.

Mad Grit: Mad Grit is okay. It's a niche perk, but it fills that niche well. Heck you can use the Agitation, Iron Grasp, Mad Grit, (Unrelenting or Save the Best for Last) combo for a machine gun swing build while carrying someone.

Iron Maiden: This perk works well on Huntress and Doctor, but it also acts as a solid counter to Inner Strength. Heck, it can even counter the Inner Strength + DS + Head On combo. It's actually a surprisingly good perk. Though I wouldn't pick it for a build unless I had extra space.

So, all things considered, I'd argue you're getting $4 worth with Legion just at base kit.

    BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!

Legion has two great build synergies:

Build Style 1: ALL YOUR GEN ARE BELONG TO US

Since Frenzy alone wastes a 1/4 of a generator for each mend it's a great stalling tool. However, this can be made stronger. Perks like HEX: Ruin and Pop Goes the Weasel can make the 20 seconds of Mending worse as you make regression much more common and more powerful. Heck, throw in Surge if you want to really want to smash gens around. As long as you can run loops efficiently you can bankrupt their pallet supply and then before long start downing as they are simply unable to finish gens faster than you're hooking people.

Build Style 2: TWENTY EIGHT STAB WOUNDS

Alternatively, if you are a skilled mind-gamer then you might want to try a no healing build. Use Frenzy to injure and stall survivors then use Sloppy Butcher and Thanataphobia to slow down healing even more and keep the survivors injured. Then, once everyone is injured and exposed you just need to mind game efficiently and you'll be downing survivors left right and center.

In summary, Legion's pretty good actually. They're a solid M1 killer and they have the potential to hold their own, I'd argue, even at rank one. I mean, the Legion Pin, effectively cancels/denies insta-heals (it breaks survivors with deep wounds if you hit them again in Feral Frenzy). They have solid perks and as others have said you can earn a lot of BP when you play Legion. If you like Jeff anyway I'd argue the Darkness Among Us chapter is worth every cent with what you're getting.

No, wait for his rework, see you in a year or so

  • IhatelifeIhatelife Member Posts: 4,374

No, they're definitely not worth it now...

  • ShrekIsHotShrekIsHot Member Posts: 3,172

Very cool design, but they practically have no power, the power is just about only good for running to gens, but Hillbilly does that better, you can use Feral Frenzy to locate people but eh, add ons suck too and are boring but they plan for reworking the add ons, probably will turn out like their rework, bad.

Basically if you want, you could, but I'd prefer a Killer with a power.

    Buy him with shards.

  • armandfm11armandfm11 Member Posts: 35

Pretty much my strategy right now :]

Considering how often I'll get to play (because of life), I'll stick to the (late) 4$ and keep my nearly 9k shards

Agree with the design, that's what draw me to ... them. But running to a gen *might not work* (if you are late; you're gonna suffer a 4 sec stun and the survivor(s) will have that gen probably done by the time you arrive - maybe it applies for a short distance)

(Metallica) Sad but True ( if you think about it... Jeff should enjoy Metallica ;) )

Felt that (to be honest, went kinda on a death wish there, not being a killer main and all...)

(then again, with the WONDERFUL MATCHMAKING -hope it's fixed by now- I managed to defeat some ranks 2 and 4 with billy. and I don't play billy. AT ALL)

    (even rank 19 on killer :l )

    (my mind = confused)

btw I'll stick to ghosty boi lol

and HAPPY Blood hunt event ... thing.

Nope. But the DLC is worth it for Jeff.

  • armandfm11armandfm11 Member Posts: 35

Agree. Like I said, 5$ for Jeff or 4$ for Jeff and Legion and cosmetic (if one's buying in a sale, I'm not THAT desperate for DLCs ).

  • Raven014Raven014 Member Posts: 3,677

Legion is... many things. They aren't immediately Lethal, but they do get a lot of information. They can see survivor locations (sometimes across map with the Iri Button), and are very punishing if you miss. They can be decent on maps that aren't good for some killers, like corn maps, but suffer on some too (Haddonfield). I think it's worth it, but that's because I'm a P3 Legion main. : P

However, Behavior has really skimped on the cosmetics for them, but all of them look great (exception being Julie's cosmetics. I like the girl a lot but she received the bottom of the barrel for cosmetics.)

Their perks are all good as well for at least one killer (Iron Maiden and Huntress were made for each other, Discordance is good overall, and Mad Grit is an amazing meme perk).

Jeff is one of the louder survivor, even when uninjured. He's got some cool cosmetics though. I'm a fan of his ugly sweater with the red jeans combo), and his perks are... something... Distortion is weak, Breakdown is alright (especially for getting the break 100 hooks achievement), and Aftercare can be a replacement for Bond/Empathy if you're good at staying off the hook. So, I suppose two of the perks are worth it.

In the end, it's more about if you think they're worth it. I do, but as I said before, I'm a P3 Legion main, so what do I know?
