@TheMLR that is exactly what has happened for me too. Submit ticket, give Log file, and then they disappear. I also have mentioned in the other comments that this problem exists in Middle-East, Russia, and South America. The problem is BHVR doesn't even want to bother with this issue, they are too busy making another killer and DLC.
while shittalking on Twitter i've stumbled upon people from Spain having this issue too.
basically, all regions that are not native/secondary English are being neglected cause we can't be vocal enough. i bet Chinese also have this issue but even less people speak English there. bet if it was NA or Australia or Britain the problem would have been resolved or AT LEAST ADDRESSED in the matter of week.
From Belgium (EU) and also having errors frequently. Connection could not be established or NAT type error with the host.
Started happening somewhere around ST chapter release (also with the new lobby being released), never had issues with it before that, and my NAT type is 2, and pretty much don't have any issues in any other game in regards to connection.
You're right, but that doesn't change the fact that it's still an issue, has a very big impact on our gameplay experience, and god knows how long it'll take before Dedicated Servers are ready to be deployed globally.
But again, as I've stated, they're certainly trying, but the issues are still there, and they're definitely not the fault of the player(s).
thing is, i thought it was dedicated servers. not trying to console shame you D:
i've had Host Unreachable maybe 2-4 times for a year and a half before Stranger Things. never ever it bothered me. but as soon as they established the servers live, i can't play normal. so many missed opportunities and so much wasted time. well i thought it was dedicated servers to blame.
but since you don't have dedicated servers it only gets weirder and weirder. so here this must be some matchmaking and ping voodoo shenanigans where it refuses to connect us once we get some [BAD WORD] ping and failing to find a better spot it just kicks us.
Oh, I misunderstood then, my bad! I didn't have issues with these errors before. I'm almost certain the issue has to do with the new lobby (or at least became more apparent with it), since that released with ST, around the time these problems started. I wouldn't know about the Dedicated Servers, sucks to hear that you're still having that issue, I'd hoped you guys would be spared of this with the servers being in place.
damn, mate. servers suck, honestly. where it used to be SOME games trash with weird hitboxes now ALL games are trash with weird hitboxes. watch some Zubat vids since servers were implied, pretty much summons it up.
Today I decided to uninstall/re-install the game to see if it fixed something.
Nope, nothing. Still the "disconected from host" crash, it's virtually impossible for me to play killer, it just instantly crashes when I start a game. When I play survivor like 30% of the time nothing happens, but as soon as I hear the killers heartbeat, it lags and crashes.
@niemniemnieeem Thank you for contacting them on twitter! hope it'll finally provide us with some help. I think the issue is between dedicated servers and the lobby creation. Also, something weird happened to me yesterday. have you noticed that the mouse cursor appears right before you get into a lobby (if you don't get Host Unreachable)? so yesterday i got into a lobby without getting the mouse cursor thingy, but after we went into the loading screens (before the match starts), the loading screen got stuck and after a minute or two it said that I had been disconnected and so the game canceled without even starting. I think this kind of shows the issue is between dedicated servers and the lobby creation.
i did notice that in most cases you see the pointer on a loading screen when you about to get a lobby. but also there are some times when you don't but still get a lobby. so i don't really rely on it. don't think it has anything to do with our issue because pointer with dbd is overall bit weird. like how the game is not true full screen or something that whenever you get your character relocated(going from character select into lobby or kicked), the pointer goes to the upper left corner. this was gone for several months and came back with ST chapter.
@niemniemnieeem Thats good, but then again I've seen the people in DBD support say things like that so so many times that's I almost have no faith. But the fact that we are making them listen to us is great.
@niemniemnieeem yeah I don't mean the mouse pointer is the issue with the game. I was just trying to find out where the issue might be between dedicated servers or a lobby creation script or something along those lines. I think the issue is with the dedicated servers because in the brief period where they pulled off dedicated servers (it was maybe 2 months ago) this issue was gone for good. but as soon as dedicated servers came back, Host Unreachable came back again.
Now tasks from archives have stopped working for me. The widget on the right in the after-game menu just does not appear. I installed VPN and this problem was solved. Apparently this is the only way out. Only my VPN has a monthly free limit. So it would be nice to solve this problem...
It's definitely not dedicated servers. This issue has been ongoing nonstop on ps4 since the ST update(never stopped for me or my friend). Thanks though for getting a reply. Hopefully they'll work on this bug because it's an experience that just drains you out wanting to play games more and more as you get it.
Another thing to note is it obviously only happens when playing Survivor. As killer I never have this problem because I am the host.
@Atrushan88 It happens in Killer and Survivor matches the same way. So that part of your message is actually "definitely" and "obviously" wrong.
The Issue started for me after the ST DLC (which was the same time they rolled out dedicated servers). Therefore I suspect it's an issue with the dedicated servers. I know, PS4 doesn't have dedicated servers, but what if the issue is not directly related to the servers but to some script that is related to the dedicated servers? Maybe BHVR has changed something even in PS4 in preparation for the dedicated servers that has made this issue. I don't know exactly where the issue is and that's for the lazy coders in BHVR to find out (after almost 3 months), but it can certainly be in those whereabouts.
it happens in killer and survivor matches on pc cause bhvr is the host. when you're hosting the game it can only happen to people trying to join your lobby. @Atrushan88 is not wrong anywhere.
with the things we know it can't be some scrip or whatnot for dedicated servers because PS4 is literally a p2p system. it's not just bhvr refusing to give them servers. so it can only mean the error comes from the matchmaking system they introduced.
I don't think it would have to do with preparation for dedicated servers. I think the error messages might, but the connection problem probably not. You can also get these errors when a killer leaves a lobby as you're joining or after you join, where previously you wouldn't. Three error messages themselves are probably a result of preparation for dedicated servers, but going between dedicated servers and p2p on PC is as simple as flipping a switch from what I've heard and I don't think they would have added this switch to ps4 yet or dedicated servers would be just as simple and available on console.
They wouldn't hold off if they already had the update ready for us because that would be more opportunity for testing. I think if anything it has to do with either killers DCing in lobby before you join or in the middle of the joining process and the error messages are just to show us this is happening. Perhaps the error messages are cancelling the possibility to join new lobbies where previously it would have just rerouted us to the next lobby available or ignored the killer who dced/left the lobby.
@Atrushan88 About the "killer DCing in lobby", I have actually tested it. I played SWF, I get the same error message but my friend is in a lobby and sees that I have not been put into the lobby; so that shows the killer had not DCed, and the lobby was there for me to join, but the game somehow decided to push me out and give me "Host Unreachable". I have done this with friends in my region and outside my region and the result is the same., same error.
Yeah, that is something I've experienced as well, I was just saying that that error is likely a new error and occasionally that error is probably gotten from the killer just leaving the lobby. I get that error if a killer leaves when I join so I imagine matchmaking might also refuse to put you in a new lobby when a killer dcs before you completely connect. Not saying that's all the problem, because it never is. There's always a new bug and sometimes bugs are accompanied by other bugs. I just think sometimes that may be the cause.
@niemniemnieeem so if a VPN has solved your problem, doesn that confirm that the problem is not the lobby creation and that it's an issue with the servers? Cuz now that the game thinks you are from this other country, it gives you lobbies without any problems. What country's IP do you use? and does it affect your ping?
it somewhat does confirm it. yet i am still sure it's not only dedicated servers with the facts we have from people on console.
and yeah, it gives lag and ping is bit unstable. i connect to Finland or Estonia(i live in Moscow) and it's not so bad. i tried Germany since they have the server location there - was horrible. completely unplayable. if you try NordVPN it will choose best region to connect to for you.

@Atrushan88 and @xZeroStrike you both are on console, right? therefore you don't have dedicated servers and still use p2p? am i getting it right?

well as you see our brothers and sisters from various lands on console have the same issue. and they do not have dedicated servers at all.
Now tasks from archives have stopped working for me. The widget on the right in the after-game menu just does not appear. I installed VPN and this problem was solved. Apparently this is the only way out. Only my VPN has a monthly free limit. So it would be nice to solve this problem...
i get tons of lag using vpn. game is unplayable. i have paid NordVPN subscription, it supposed to be not bad. how do you cope with the lag?
