My friend can't join and play with us, it won't connect for him. New player and he restarted PC, verified and all that.

Dude I have the same problem. Has your problem been solved?
What do the log files say?
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\DeadByDaylight\Saved\Logs\DeadByDaylight.log
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\EasyAntiCheat\gamelauncher.log
Also make sure to turn off any RGB lighting software since Easy Anti-Cheat wont let you play if any are running.

No. Attach the log files here after you have you recently launched the game so the error shows up in the log files with possible additional information.
Anyone have more info on this? I have the same issue. Re-installed game, verified files.
Also, my computer does NOT have any log files, at least not by the same name. The only notepad things I could find was a file repeating '0% 1%" up to "100% EAC installed successfully" - something along those lines, not exact.
The issue described - I can open the game fine, and can look around menus seemingly endlessly. Opening the store will eventually cause the game to go to the DbD logo loading screen, then the home screen, with an error "Your session has expired. Please sign in again" with no error code.
The other thing that causes that issue is getting a match. As survivor or Killer, a few seconds after I enter a lobby(with other people) I get the same thing happen.
Did you try signing in?
This isn't a forum issue. It's an issue with the game. There is no 'sign in' button. Did you read any of the posts?

There were some server issues over the weekend, I think those are fixed now but it MIGHT be related to the issue you had.
Is the issue still present?

I think, at this point, you would be best to submit a log file to https://support.deadbydaylight.com because i'm honestly stumped what the problem could be.
@KhaineGB sorry for late reply. I tried shortening steam name, didn't work. I have made a support ticket. At least due to this I get an excuse to play Dark Souls now
