Which is more frustrating to you?

CamophloCamophlo Member Posts: 94

When playing this game I've come to terms that Solo Survivor and Killer (mainly playing lower tier killers) are both frustrating as hell. *Skip middle part if you don't wanna read ranting*

For a Solo you have to rely on yourself (let's face the facts, you can rarely rely on your teammates ESPECIALLY with the way ranking and matchmaking is f*cked) you almost always have to bring a perk or two to make sure YOU can have a chance to survive/give yourself info like Self Care, Kindred, Bond, Adrenaline or even Decisive. Leaves little to no room for fun quirky builds cause the killer has to try and win their frustrating side. Your teammates will always screw you over by 3 genning your whole team, farming, getting caught too early, afking, dc'ing and the such. And then the killer who could be the 100th Spirit you face in a row, an annoying game stalling build (looking at you Freddy mains you jerks) or the hundreth time you are slugged/tunneled/mori'd off hook that day alone. One [BAD WORD] up on your part or a careless decision from a teammate costs you your life. It's a horrible experience! It's no wonder people always group up with a team.

As killer you always have to try cause the survs you get are trying. The SWFs are trying and more times than not, while you play killer you always seem to get the survs that have all these things like toolboxes, Borrowed Time, Keys, Prove Thyself, Decisive, Unbreakable; the list goes on. If you main a low tier killer it will be frustrating unless you're good and have great add-ons (or if the survs are potato.) One [BAD WORD] up on your part and you lose the whole match. Hell even RNG can [BAD WORD] you over by how things are placed around the map and the map itself. Main a slow killer? The game gives you the bigger maps like all the corn ones and Yamoka. Playing stealth killers? Maps with rng that cause decent lines of sight to see you from afar. Don't even get me started on how much of an [BAD WORD] BOTH sides can be. Like come on guys..

Given all of this which side do you find the most frustrating? Playing and trying to survive as a Solo or playing as killer (more notebly a lower tier one, killers like Spirit, Nurse and Billy have easier times cause of their strength)? I personally can't decide myself. They both aggrivate me to no end yet I still play this game :/

Definitely killer, I hate using a BPS, and having to sweat my ass off because gens are being done at relatively fast rate.

Had a game today on coal tower ( with BPS ), with wraith and my Ruin went down super quick so I had only 3 perks to work with. That and the fact that coal tower is stupid, ended with a 4-man escape with no fun had.

not gonna critisize or point anything out because this made me go to a complete state of awe, I never realized how blind I was. the second paragraph especially gave me a better perspective when I'm playing survivor without any of my bros (which is like 95 percent of the time) thanks for posting this, good luck in the fog!

This is one of the main issues this game has. Poor map design and maps that are either surv sided or killer sided with strong tiles. Even the fact your ruin was destroyed early making a perk useless within the first minute (imma assume it was broken instantly) although Hexs are very strong they can be powered through so it would be great if they had like.. A minute or so of it's curse as a guaranteed aftereffect if broken too early.

I'm sorry you had to endure that. Truly

This is one of the many reasons I refuse to take Ruin with me on any killer. Survivors just seem able to home in on it within a minute of the match starting, especially when it's just sitting out in the open for the world to see. Hex perks would work so much better if they just stayed hidden for the first minute or two before being able to be spotted. At least then, killers would have a little more chance against genrushing

Killer is way more frustrating. Had a game tonight where a billy camped the basement and tunneled everyone off hook, no doubt trying to get the basement challenge done. I died and depipped, but it's nowhere near as annoying as getting DSed with the doors open.

Depending on the killer I am playing, killer is way more frustrating.

I could never ever be a Clown main, Legion main, or Doctor main (used to be one). I near enough only play Nurse by now, because even after her hefty basekit nerf (which I disagree with), she is still the most rewarding killer. However what makes her frustrating now, is the multitude of bugs regarding her.

Sound issues in general making tracking a giant guessing game right now. Blinks being robbed of you, turing into 1 or even 0 blink Nurse for unspecified time during the trial. The length of the lunge sometimes being longer, sometimes shorter (though, that was also pre-nerf, so I am pretty sure thats dedicated servers), and dedzones on Yamaoka making her borderline unplayable.

If the game was actually polished on a technical standpoint, and everything was working as inteded, I would find solo survivors more frustrating.

I think better totem placements is what is needed. Some maps like all of Freddy's varients and some Yamoka ones are pretty decent at hiding them inside nooks blocked by rocks and grass.

Some maps tho do need better ones. Like on Crotus Prenn, why in the right mind would you want a totem to be in the middle of nowhere next to a single tree or just standing alone in the field screaming "here I am! Break me please!"

Thankfully they are reworking each map to fix these issues but it would've been nice to have had them fixed in the beginning.

Staying hidden for the first min is a good idea but then survs would just break every totem they see and potentially break another totem like Devour. Unless it worked like NOED's totem placing

Also you forgot to mention that there is always that one rank 19 when you play killer that you kill early in the game thinking its just a high rank player who screwed up and then realize that you mercilesly punished a newby player who was probably trying to learn how to play

But I must say that as a rank one killer Ive had way better matches against swf or good players in general that what I get while solo queueung. Not saying im great at the game I mostly suck at chases but dear god there is always that one guy who gets hit and then downed five seconds later. How is that even posible? Did you stand still during the killers hit animation?

I found Killer be more frustrating because every time I play somehow I always manage to play against either purple and red ranks when I'm only rank 10 I can feel the difference in levels when I chase them and how they always manage to avoid my attack. 😦

  • MikeasaurusMikeasaurus Member Posts: 1,886

Crotus was the one reason I left Hex perks behind. The Hex just popped up into the middle of the open and I just stood looking at it for a few seconds just shocked that someone on the dev team though that was a great place for a totem to hide. You're right about the other maps though. When I play Survivor I have touble locating some. Hawkins is also a nightmare for me since I can never remember where totems can spawn

I'd honestly say the most frustrating thing in this game is the garbage tier servers they've bought. At least on peer-to-peer you'd get some solid games sprinkled in with the questionable ones. Now, since dedicated servers, 90% of my games have been consistently awful. I suppose it's nice to have something in this game that's consistent.. even if it's entirely negative.

  • JC316JC316 Member Posts: 693

I rarely have an issue with the servers. If it was on P2P, there's no way I could play the game as killer. Rural internet monopoly means I get 4.5mbps/512k, so 512K up isn't enough to be able to host.

  • PyroDudePyroDude Member Posts: 375

For me it is playing Killer for sure.

Having a bad match as solo often ends quickly but that only means to me that I can move on and try better next game.

Bad match as killer? Have fun being taunted by the survivors because your game only ends when all survors are either dead or have escaped.

And you will always be jugded by the others when you are the killer.

    @Mikeasaurus

I think hex is fine as is, yes they can be at horrible spots from time to time but given the impact they do have with little to no requirement it is an okay gamble.

  • RandomHyperBeastRandomHyperBeast Member Posts: 35

I have to say both sides. On solo surv, I am always stuck with total potatoes who don't do anything and I die because they just wall hug or do dumb crap. And usually as killer I'll be rank 11 and go against a rank 6 swf so I have to start using "toxic plays" to get kills although I try not to.(even though no play is toxic just saying) and yes I play Freddy because he's a character in the game in hes fun. Don't get mad at me for that. Not to mention I don't play toxic usually and I let last person get hatch

Solo. tired of Self-care and Urban immersion

  • BroosmeisterBroosmeister Member Posts: 282

    Just stop playing lol.

I've been playing Overwatch the last months, it's fun to finally find games within seconds instead of waiting 10 minutes to get 3 minutes of gameplay due to either a genrush, or bad teammates and get killed quickly or camped and tunneled/mori.

Sometimes i try to play DbD to see if i like it, i play 1 game and don't enjoy it at all so i keep playing something else untill i start enjoying playing DbD again. And otherwise not, and i will never play it again. It shouldn't matter.

Bad Map Design as a killer, specially infinites, and the 2 windows are a pain as well, specially if they t-bag you. I don't mind survivors gen rushing in 5 mins or less but I mean. Is it necessary to laugh at me when you're abusing an infinite?

  • pichumudkippichumudkip Member Posts: 119

Solo Survivor because if you get paired up with SWF, not only is the killer already annoyed, but if they're toxic SWF, then this killer is already going to be really annoyed and will do ANYTHING to win, and if survivors are able to get gens done, and if the only solo survivor gets down, and this is from personal experience, SWF will not give a single crap, even if they never got hooked once, and will leave through any means possible (which is understandable and perfectly fine, it just kills me on the inside everytime it happens to me).

  • MissBehavingXMissBehavingX Member Posts: 276

I play solo survivor 95% of the times. I was rank 2 and yesterday I almost deranked to 4 because I wouldn't get unhooked by the random teammates (no I wasn't doing anything to piss them off) I didn't want to use kindred because that had never happened before, I usually get unhooked almost immediately at red ranks, it was so frustrating.

  • sliptteesslipttees Member Posts: 655

    Killer closed lobby with SWF.

idea: The markmarting algorithm can group users and lead everyone to the killer lobby at once. Thus preventing the murder from closing or lobby identifying when it is a SWF.

I can't stand solo or killer for more than an hour but my cat broke my mic so here I am.

  • DoomsdayDameDoomsdayDame Member Posts: 58

Oh boy as if this forum wasnt made for me. Sit down ladies (I AM A WOMAN FOR ANYONE SALTY ABOUT ME SAYING THAT), it's time to get an eyefull.

I've been playing this game since before SWF was put in it and ever since the SWF option was added AND THEN LATER OPTIMIZED FOR PLAYER EASE so we just reload in the lobby with the friends, this game has never been more toxic. I was a killer main, everyday I ran hag and I ran hag hard. I slid into red ranks with ease and never even needed meta to get there. But since SWF has been released I cannot play killer side. It's always some toxic group of little shits that bring perks that work with their friends perks and items that compliment the perks they all brought to use together. I often see a laurie or Nea vaulting a window all game to get my attention to chase them, disgustingly coordinated saves that can only be executed because they're all wearing mics, every since player has on DH and DS and atleast two have BT and OoO. They're not even good, they're only making it to red ranks because they run the same 4man SWF cheap tricks that all of them run because it's what works. There isnt any skill left in the game, there no true honest to entity survivors anymore. They're all just bullying asses and I cant stand a single one.

I was playing survivor the other day and this one person had on Kindred, got hooked after blatantly telling the killer to kill him and DCed on hook so his 2 SWF buddies would have perma kindred so they could ALWAYS see one another. Its filthy, its cheating, and its so stupid unbalanced and survivor sided it makes me hate playing both sides.

Yet. Here I am, ready to turn on my PS4 and play. Why? Because I love the game, not the toxicity...

Killer is always more frustrating, there is no doubt.

Losing as survivor? Hook suicide and done.

Losing as killer, Being bullied, anything?...You are stuck for the whooollee match, and the elongated end game cause they won't leave till you force them out, till then they will tea bag at opposite gates.

  • WaffleyumboyWaffleyumboy Member Posts: 7,262

The only problem is when you have to hook suicide 90% of the time and wait through 10 minute queues. That's solo queue.

  • EchorionEchorion Member Posts: 1,883

Solo for me takes like seconds, it only takes 10 minutes when I am in SWF or Killer...so I mean really Killer is still missing out because after that long drawn out match they had to drag through they have to then sit through a really long queue as well.

Killer is more stressful, but rarely frustating. Solo on the other hand is the most frustating part of dbd. You stand and fall with the team you get. Just ONE boosted potatoe team mates who doesn't belong into red ranks can already be the lost case for the whole team. And since Sooo many potatoes are hovering in red ranks it feels like u can't even have more than one good game per day in solo Q.

Since some months I only play in a group with friends. I can't be arsed to deal with all the 0 IQ boosted idiots in red ranks, it's absolutly destroying my fun.

I play survivor and Killer everyday on my Ps4,I switch between Surv or killer if either of the matches gets awful. Also I hit rank 3 on killer right now, My God I'm getting constant SWF red ranks in my killer lobbies.Eventhough they are toxic And Genrushing, I'll still get 4K. Doesn't matter for me if there is bad matches or good matches. The Survivor side is the worst, Trying to get to Rank 1 On Surv, But still in Rank 7 because of [BAD WORD] teammates and [BAD WORD] Killers. After all just like you said, I still play the game everyday,Because I love it ☺.
