My game freezes for a moment and then crashes...

cyborg10cyborg10 Member Posts: 7

Since the oni update, me and many other people i know are crashing...

  1. I tried cleaning my gpu fan and the pc fan
  2. I reinstalled the game
  3. I verified the game files
  4. I tried editing and putting a rendering line on the config file lower

The game is literally unplayable since the Oni update, i hope i get some kind of response to this, because when the dc penalty will be live i will probably get timebanned for a long time...

Since you've already cleaned out the card, try reducing the speed instead, AKA downclocking it.

Testing a theory to see if it might help.

Hi, I play on Xbox One, and I have exactly the same problem. 99% of games I launch, as killer or as survivor, randomly, the game freeze during 5 or 10 seconds before crashing. I tried to disconnect my account, uninstall and reinstall the game, hard reset my xbox, none of these solutions have worked! :( help I want to play !

I'm having the same issue, and I've addtionally tried rolling back my graphic's card drivers, re-installing them (clean install) and problem persists.

This crash occurs at random times and it is becoming extremely tedious as it is happening on 3 out of 5 matches I play.

  • cyborg10cyborg10 Member Posts: 7

Tried that but didnt help, i took a break from the game till it gets fixed, cuz its unplayable rn.

And as you can see it isnt just me having this issue which means, its the fault of the game and not the pc's/consoles.

    • Physically cleaning up rig

Any advice or suggestion is more than welcome.

EDIT: This started happening around 2 weeks ago, before that, crashes were not really frequent.

    For the PC users.

Assertion failed: [File:Unknown] [Line: 198] Unreal Engine is exiting due to D3D device being lost. (Error: 0x887A0006 - 'HUNG')

That bit? That absolutely means it's partially a problem with your system. It can mean overheating, or it can mean the GPU isn't getting enough power, therefore it starts to crash and the driver/DirectX "resets" it to prevent that.

Which then makes the game crash.

That's why I suggest downclocking the GPU to see if it helps. If it doesn't help, then the next thing I would suggest would be seeing if you can borrow a PSU from somewhere and swap out the one you have.

As for the xbox? Could be exactly the same problem, except we can't suggest things like downclocking GPU's to test out a theory.

I can confirm, toying around with the clock seems to have helped with the crashes (at least this particular error).

I've set the clock from 8000 to 7800Mhz and seems to have solved the issue. I was getting this error frequently against Freddy, and I am now able to finish matches against him. I've tested it for a few days now, and I have not encountered this issue again so far.

    Thanks for the suggestion!
