Killers are unhappy now?

This Ruin update kills 5 gen 4ks for killers. I disagree that this update makes the game very much different for the top tier killer. Many good killers don't rely on their Ruin going into late game anyways, so I don't see the change as "game ending". Personally, I think too many killers (80%+) relied on this perk alone to win them games, versus lets say pushing survivors off of a gen. As a hybrid player (both killer and survivor), I'm looking forward to seeing how different games will play out. I don't use Ruin unless I'm on a low mobility killer anyway and seem to 4k every game unless i'm facing top 1% survivors, and even then I get 2 or more without playing for the sacrifice. Ruin is dead, but Dead By Daylight is just beginning. Thoughts on Ruin and how the changes will play out from the killers POV?

    all I noted is there is less killer and the waiting time is going insane

    I'm amazed at how few people seem to realize that destroying the primary tool killers had to increase game time and stand a chance against gen rushing is only going to lead to the obvious perk to use when gen rushing is unavoidable. But celebrate the fact that Ruin is gone while you can before the NOED meta comes into hard force. See which one you prefer more.

    I'm baffled anyone is posting comments like this tbh, destroying ruin is the equivalent of removing all exhaustion perks from the game. It's a massive balance change to the game and anyone thinking properly can see it s a bad idea.

    Saying that killers are uninspired because they're using the best perk that's available to them is ridiculous. Ruin is a great perk so it gets used a lot. There are alternatives admittedly, but if I could guantee that ruin would stay up all game, I'd swap four perk slots for it. That's how strong it can be. If the devs want other perks to see use, stop creating complete trash like mind breaker.

    I never need ruin to do well or get 4ks at rank 1.

    Ruin just bought me enough time to be nice. :)

    Though, to be honest, I'm having more fun making games as miserable and unfun for survivors than I ever did trying to be nice.

    The truth is this ruin nerf was to make clown viable due to his speed.

    You're goofy for this one, I use my Doctor at Rank 2 and i never use Ruin, i run Distressing, Overwhelming Presence, Devour Hope, and Huntress Lullaby and it's been rare to see the gates open with 2 or more survivors using this setup.

    the key to "victory" is different for almost everybody. My victory means getting over 2 kills, and pipping at least once. If your victory is 4king and getting a Merciless, then yes the ruin change is going to hurt you. But relying on one perk to "win" you a game is for low skill players. All an opinion.

    no, 80% of red rank killers don't play clown... they play billy.

    Yeah, key words being "good killers" i.e. top tier killers. Killers like Nurse, Billy and, ironically, Freddy remain viable. The rest of the cast not so much. Telling people they need to play certain characters if they want to play in the high ranks isn't exactly going to change anybody's minds.

    I'm more bothered that they keep nerfing my killer farming build for 100k bp a match. The build consisted with being able to hook all survivors twice, and max all other categories. With the combination of BBQ, Distressing and add ons. I was able to pull 100kbp a match and black pip while still letting the survivors all escape - which for some way even though I took the game hostage in a way, they always gave me compliments for saying they had a good time.

    The first variation of the build was with Forever Freddy, with Kids Drawing + Swing Chains, Jump Rope, or Outdoor Rope. Distressing, BBQ, Thanatophobia, and Sloppy Butcher. Then the buffs to healing others, and nerfs to Forever Freddy came so I had to change the build.

    The second variation of the build was Freddy, with Kids Drawing + No other add on. Distressing, BBQ, Ruin, and Pop Goes The Weasel.

    Both Variations would use a BP increase offering.

    Now they are nerfing Ruin, so I'll probably be moving to BBQ, Distressing, Surveilance, Ruin, or back to to the Thanatophobia/Sloppy combo. I have been testing Thana and Pop on the PTB, but so far haven't really found any build that gives positive results as of yet.

    If you find a killer named Friendly Freddy, please give a coin to your witcher - o valley of plenty.

    a lot of killers, like myself. used ruin to play nice in a way, as in 12 hooks. 3 chases per survivor. no tunneling or camping. etc to make the game fun for everyone

    new ruin does not allow this. so LET LOOSE THE CAMPING, TUNNELING AND MORIS EVERYWHERE. THE SURVIVORS WILL FEEL THE WRATH OF ALL KILLERS! (that actually remain after this update)

    I stay in the super crap ranks and pull off about 29k BP base (before BBQ or any offerings) without killing by running Distressing, Beast of Prey, BBQ, and Whispers. Even in the crap ranks I resort to slugging to slow survivors down sometimes, though, which I feel bad about but I prefer Whispers over Ruin and I'm not giving up any of the BP-boosting perks.

    I really wish they would add a 50% boost to Brutality to Beast of Prey, though. Distressing gets a 100% boost, why can't Beast of Prey at least get a combined 100%. Instead, they added the Undetectable status effect, which is nice I guess but reaching Bloodlust is usually considered a bad thing; I'd rather have gotten the BP boost to Brutality.

    If survivor gets killed without doing 1 gen it literally only means they are rank 12-20 and have no clue what they are doing. Also known as running in a straight line on the corners of the map and getting downed in 5 seconds. Or all trying to yolo save and getting downed.

    If a killer gets 3 minutes 5 gen it is not because they suck because game doesn't allow killers to prevent that no matter how good you are because pallets. You have to break them and follow the survivor to another pallet. There are few mindgameable pallets. Hex ruin was giving a chance to actually hook 1 guy to apply some pressure before 3 gens get down from the first chase.

    Also swf is overrated just by having 4 solo no potato survivors is already enough to do a 3 man escape. Only nurse and spirit can prevent that with skill level.

    It is so bad there is no perk 4 man escape squad and such as far as I remember.

    Exactly! That's why I haven't been using Beast of Prey or Hex: Thrill of the Hunt - if they just buffed them to give 100% bp I wouldn't even have to use Freddy to farm BP with his Kid's Drawing add on. I don't think.

    Ugh, I remember using Thrill of the Hunt back before I unlocked Beast of Prey... it was awful. Dull totems got cleansed so fast, and I'd have to choose between pressuring survivors or protecting the totem. It never netted me enough profit to justify using it: it just gave the survivors extra BP for cleansing it. -_-

    I like using Spirit to farm BP, because with Distressing you can fill up Deviousness pretty quickly just by phase walking around, it's beautiful. If I remember correctly, I think you can also take advantage of phase walking to get "survivor found" points multiple times in quick succession, though that might be unreliable (I know, huge surprise, things like "chase," "survivor found," and "protection hit" events being unreliable).

    Beast of prey is ok on scratched mirror Myers with BBQ, Thrill and either distressing (for a fun laugh about comments after game) or Pop with a survivor pudding it's a nice 40k-60k depending on survivor gameplay. The lowest I got was 35k using that build.

    It seems then that you don't understand the problem. You're right, killers don't expect their ruin going into late game. That then means that it's an early game perk. Exactly what it was used for. With it being a hex, it was always risk vs reward. Now, the reward is gone, but the risk remains.

    The changes, as the devs claim, supposedly make it a late game perk. However, if it doesn't make it to late game, how can it be a late game perk? If it is useless in the early game, and it doesn't make it ot late game, what use is it. Plus, it prevents other gen regression perks from working. You can't even kick gens.

    Plus, it doesn't address the underlying problem that made it so popular in the first place.

    Btw, claiming to be a top rank killer while posting on a brand new smurf account...not quite buying it. I'm guessing your just a survivor main who doesn't understand the real issue.

    I play both side, and currently Killer more.

    As Survivor, I do hate Ruin because it extend M1 time on Gen, which I dont like the game play to be like that. So as Killer, I dont use Ruin, to keep the game fresh. And honestly without Ruin the game goes really fast. But I dont care about ranking up as Killer (only get around rank 15-17), keep the new Survivors enjoy their game.

    I believe there will be patch to slow down Gen WITHOUT extending M1 time on Gen this year.
